TLOU remastered selling so well tells us something about how console exclusivity hurts sales.

After all, a bunch of folks never owned a PS3 so the PS4 version is their first chance to buy it.

Can everyone harping on about the wii u atleast acknowledge it sold 29k last July? Thats a pretty big year over year increase..

29k is a disaster number

81k is still a laughable number

Yeah, the YoY rise will give you a notorious % to post in your monthly PR statement, dosn't mean both numbers are terrible, just one way more terrible than the other.

Yes :D

She said I can get a few more tomorrow. She just got a good deal with the others.

You are a lucky man! Tell your wife that neogaf thinks she's awesome. I'm sure that won't be creepy at all :p

Polygon did an "analysis" article on historical Mario Kart game sales and tie ratio's with previous Nintendo Consoles and predicted MK8 would only have 1.2M lifetime sales worldwide. The game already surpassed that last month and is on the verge of beating it in ust the US alone.

Thanks as well. I was lost about it myself.

And yet is still well below 100k which is a pathetic number.

Never said the baseline wouldn't be higher than before. I'd said that the jump would be barely noticiable and still pathetic, and here we are.

Indeed being below 100k is not good, but your snarky comment about momentum is quite over the top when a console that is anyhow dead is selling 81k compared to 48k before with no other retail games until September. This is all just MK8 momentum.

Edit: you can laugh as much as you like, but at list do it with the right argument, that the Wii U is dead.

Yeah but they had their biggest franchise launch last month, and now they are already back down below 100k. They do have a steady amount of first party releases coming up, but the system is looking quite sickly.

Two reasons:
  • It was such a good game, people felt it was worth the asking price to doulble dip to play an even better version.
  • People who own a PS4 that didn't have a PS3 last gen and wanted to play last years GOTY.

3. PS3 owners like me who were happy to wait for a superior PS4 version.

There is no stopping Sony now, I just hope they don't return to that arrogant Sony.

If there is a couple of million people like me that jumped ship to the Playboat then is no surprise TLOU:R is at No. 1.

Fucking game has the best god damn gunplay on a third person shoter right now.

Wii U is more than doubling its previous sales.

Did people seriously expect Mario Kart 8 to boost Wii U to consistently being above 100k? You've got to remember how fucking bad Wii U was doing previously.

(replying to this one because it recaps the other ones)

The second one is perfectly logical and good imo, i'm just surprised people from the first reason double dip day 1 and don't wait for at least a small pricedrop (
it's not a nintendo game staying years at the same price after all
). Great game, very good remaster, wouldn't have been as much surprised if this happened a year or two later I guess.

Yes the numbers are still pretty bad. Point is, it did get a "bump" and baseline increase from kart. I don't see how you can argue otherwise.

I would guess Mario Kart 8 and Minecraft 360 are probably 2 and 3, but not sure about the order.

I remember that ppl were expecting a way higher baseline and effect of MK8 word of mouth. I don't see how laughing at that is wrong.

People are laughing at Polygon shitty pie chart too...

This is like looking at the MoM increase for Vita in May and saying "hey look it's a pretty big increase, stop saying these are bad numbers!"

We've been getting constant restocks on the game since it came out, and it keeps selling well. This remaster has definitely paid off big time for Sony.
It certainly has. I personally don't know how many times we had to restock the game but man it's been selling out quick over here. Gonna see how many copies we have of the current stock left tomorrow since I haven't worked since Monday.
