Making The Last of Us available to people who never had a PS3 was the right move.

Exactly

PS4 has a lot of users who never owned the PS3, it is a win/win for Sony and those users. I am excited to see more people finally getting a chance to try out some truly incredible games they missed, only helps support the next one that much more.

So consistently and painfully wrong. Still gainfully employed.

Tragic.

Wii U still has a great weekly average compared to last year. August should be about the same and September will be interesting due to HW.

Well sales-age is fun overall anyway :)

Does anyone have the charts with the yearly revenue with monthly differences. If not I may make those later.

The race is over. The only question is how far behind will the XB1 be.

Total WW race is over, but MS might be able to claw back closer to 50/50 in NPD / NA.

That said, Every NPD with Sony winning is a NPD where the gap widens. MS would also have to actually offer something to consumer to chance the CW and status quo.

Cynical stuff like the TR news isn't going to play well since it only reinforces the views they cemented in their reveal and their E3 announcement.

Nice month without surprises.
Microsoft is ecen more vague than usual though.
I still don't get why/how that many people are willing to pay more than 30$ for a one year old remaster though.

There are people like me who sold their PS3's towards a PS4 and didn't get to play it on PS3. But will be able to on the PS4. It's still a "new" game to me.

Other news....I'm pretty sure Gies doesn't care how wrong he is. But he's happier staying relevant....and he's doing a great job at that.

Wii U is around 83k? Where'd we get that from, missed it?

Need to know so we can put to bed many arguments that were had last month's NPD.

Pretty sure I read a lot of Nintendo fans saying that nonsense.

Such as marc^o^. Where are you, marc? >:)

I'm incredibly skeptical of this. People treat it like 4 new Halo games. Don't get me wrong, it's a tremendous value and offers an obscene amount of gameplay. But I honestly can't imagine the average consumer going nuts for HD versions of half-decade old games. I feel like the people who would go apeshit for this bought Xbones at launch. I expect a holiday season bump, like everyone gets, but I can't see this game really moving boxes like some people expect.

You may be right, but I think Halo 2 MP in particular is what's going to bring back a lot of the former XB owners who either jumped ship to PS4 or have been holding out for Halo. Then you also have all the kids whose parents wouldn't buy them a $500 console last Fall but are now more open to it because it's $100 cheaper and they can get them 4 games for $60. I'm not in either camp, but personally I think MCC is coming out at the right time (when there really hasn't been a lot of exclusives this year on the X1) and it'll be huge for MS.

That's odd. I thought it would be like

1. Luigi death stare (wiiu)
2. Treehouse stream (wiiu)
3. Firmware update
4. Watchdoge

83k is based on Nintendo PR of 60% increase over hardware sales of 2013, up to the same point in time.

the god of war collection selling like 3 million already fatally wounded the case for platform holders having backwards compatibility, but this is like running over the corpse with a car

oh well at least the last of us is a total classic, more people are playing it and we have a technically flawless version

Ok, so at work today this actually happened;

co-worker: I just bought a Wii from Dave for $50, he had it from when his daughter moved out last week.

to which I said; You should have bought a WiiU if you wanted a Nintendo, could have got one for like $200.

.... "Why would I want to spend 4 times as much just to have a second screen for the Wii?"

Wii-U, the name that keeps on hitting.....

Can you recap? I'm too lazy to go archive hunting.

Basically we had a hilarious thread wherein a few posters kept making more and more insane arguments about how the Wii U could recover, and I and a few others kept having to tell them that it's basically impossible. These numbers confirm that case if it's anywhere near 83k.

I think it's going to sell really well to people that already have xboxes.

The Call of Duty and Madden bundles will move more boxes than Halo MCC IMO

PSV doesn´t even get mentioned on Sonys PR, mishandled from the get go.
They don't sell the Vita in the US, so why would they mention it?

I knew it!

I thought I was going bonkers for a moment there.

total sales of Wii U hardware and software have increased by nearly 60 percent and more than 135 percent, respectively, over the same period in 2013.

someone ran the numbers from their PR

Nintendo compared the first 7 months of 2013 to the first 7 months of 2014 with a percentage increase. only July is missing for 2014 so you'd just take the total from the percentage increase and subtract out June, May, April, March, February, and January

Well, I wanna know how EA access will affect MS sales down the road. Personally for me, don't think it'll bump sales significanlty to make 1.25 : 1 ratio sales of PS4 to Xbox One. Glad Nintendo is going strong. Those First Party titles never disappoint.
