NPD Sales Results for July 2014 [Up1: 3DS LTDs, Wii U LTDs, Tomodachi]

(replying to this one because it recaps the other ones)

The second one is perfectly logical and good imo, i'm just surprised people from the first reason double dip day 1 and don't wait for at least a small pricedrop (
it's not a nintendo game staying years at the same price after all
). Great game, very good remaster, wouldn't have been as much surprised if this happened a year or two later I guess.

You can count me among the double dipper Day 1 purchasers. I probably wouldn't have gotten it Day 1 for any other game. The game is just that good, it's not one to hold out for a price drop, plus, it was something to keep the PS4 busy until Destiny drops.

yep, that console industry sure is looking doomed ;)

on a side note:

I think its safe to assume the last of us remastered opened the floodgates in terms of the amount of remaster we're going to see this gen.

God, this thread is making me want to run out and pick up a PS4 + TLOU bundle. I want to play that game so hard!

Not a fan of the remastered price tag but TLOU is an amazing game and should be played by all

I also got mine on the PS3 for $13.00 :p

I'm glad they remastered TLOU, I never played it on the PS3(even though I had one), just didn't think I would like it.

Bought it about a week ago for the PS4 and I didn't like it............I LOVED it.

I would have probably never played this had the remastered version never come out.

Basically we had a hilarious thread wherein a few posters kept making more and more insane arguments about how the Wii U could recover, and I and a few others kept having to tell them that it's basically impossible. These numbers confirm that case if it's anywhere near 83k.

Gahaha, perfect.

Not a chance, the Wii was based around a gimmick that attracted casuals. Since that's gone, what's going to draw them in now?

Support the Devs and games you love, and hold you wallet on those that seem to always do you wrong.

I was more than happy to double dip at full price for what they were giving. After all, the more of us that did, the more likely TLOU2 gets developer sooner.

The MP at 1080P60FPS(mostly) alone is worth the price of admission.

Damn, Sony is continues to roll through. I know I should have more skepticism at this point, but I wonder if the bundles will do anything to change numbers by a large margin. For now I imagine Gamescom looking like this

I mean, people don't realize now how impossible it is for Wii U. They'd now have to have something like 155k-160k every off holiday month - and do better in the holidays - to even hit GCN numbers.

It simply is never happening for the poor Wii U :(

Gies predicted 300K NPD

The game sold 988K (I dont remember the exact number from creamsugar) PS3

Did some archive digging, TLoU sold 985K, not including digital. So probably well over a million.

Doesn't change the fact that Gies was trolling hard.

EDIT: Fuck! Beaten.

Slow Strong and Steady wins the race!!

Not a sprint is a marathon, real battle ground are September, October, November and December, etc etc

They surely will win once with so many bundle and white color, and free madden or 4 in 1 remaster, surely.

Did people seriously expect Mario Kart 8 to boost Wii U to consistently being above 100k? You've got to remember how fucking bad Wii U was doing previously.

I think people often overestimate how well a giant franchise like Kart will do even on a flopping console.
It's obviously selling well and it moved a few consoles (like most reasonable people have predicted), but it was never going to "save" the WiiU. The odd hardware design, half-serving marketing, confusing branding, mismatched software ecosystem, and 8 month long 2013 drought are powerful forces that have deeply wounded this system. There is almost no coming back from mistakes like that in this industry.

Great for TLOU hitting #1, although I'd hoped it would've surpassed the million mark. I think it'll do strong next month as well. Ten million consoles/ 988k sold is less than 10%. Everyone with a PS4 should play this if they haven't already.

And has gone on to sell 7 million plus right? Totally vanished.

This is the 3rd or 4th time I have seen comments like this from Arthur Gies, having never heard of him previously. What a massive bellend, I can't imagine even GAF would debate whether or not he is completely biased. It appears he doesn't even try to hide it.
