Ooof!

... western support leading to more droughts, and bad sales.
The bolded are their problems..

Why would having weak hardware or ignoring publishers who mostly make games for young western men matter to kids, families, and casual gamers who want nothing to do with that part of the industry? It doesn't make any sense to list that as a flaw in their plan. Weaker hardware leads to lower hardware and software prices which is very appealing to non-young male gamers.

Also, how would the 9th gen Nin consoles have droughts if the company could essentially put out big 1st party software (like Kart, Luigi's Mansion, 3D Mario and Smash) on 2 or 3 pieces of hardware at the same time while also having a steady stream of big to small downloadable releases and a few ambitious Japanese titles? You two aren't making any sort of sense on that point ...the whole idea of unifying their hardware and software teams is too get rid of the droughts and make it easier to support 2 or more pieces of hardware.
Sounds like a stable plan as far as I'm concerned.

I did not expect PS4 outselling One and 360 based on the Sony press release. But I guess companies do not tend to be specific when combating a particular company.

If the CoD bundle was $399 I'd say the X1 has a chance but it's not and I don't think it'll win November

Yea that decision made no sense to me whatsoever. Here you have bundling rights with the biggest franchise in gaming and rather than use it to push sales at a value add price over the competitor instead you add extra HD space and price $100 over your competitor?!?! Does not compute.

Something tells me we're going to see a new console from MS or Nintendo sooner than expected. This is the PS2 era all over again.

QOL comes out in 2015, right? Probably 2017 for the next regular home console from Nintendo, right at 5 years from Wii U. 3DS successor is the question mark. I'm not one of the group who thinks Nintendo will make a hybrid system, giving up on having two revenue streams.

Flop? Since when does selling over a million copies of anything and being generally very well like by both consumers and critics count as a flop? Wow...

Maybe flop isn't the right word but I think its been forgotten. I also hate to say this but I believe its a damaged brand being associated with the losing console in NA/Global. Microsoft did well for securing this as it most definitely helped their sales figures - EA - not so much.

PS4 has been winning for the 7th straight month but that's all gonna change when EA Access lands on the Xbox One All in One Entertainment System and Ryse of the Tomb Raider is released NEXT WINTER.

Nintendo? Yes, probably so. Nintendo absolutely needs to have a healthy console in the marketplace for their company to survive.

Microsoft? That would be very tricky without providing BC with XBO games. There was a TON of R&D dollars and marketing deals and game development and everything involved in the XBO and this is from a company that really doesn't need the XBO as it is seen as a money-losing boat anchor compared to the revenue generated from their other ventures.

There is not the same level of desperation at MS over a struggling XBO as there is at Nintendo over a struggling Wii-U. Gaming is pretty much all that Nintendo does.

Any chance we get some updated LTD figures for some Vita games? I'd be curious to know what games like Killzone Mercenary, Batman Blackgate, and DanganRonpa are at. Hell it'd be nice to know what Vita's top selling game is in the US.

I'm confused...by a few things actually.

So you're saying Nintendo shoudn't try to have games like GTA, Madden, Minecraft a comprable COD, etc third party games...because they appeal to young western gamers?

Hm, firstly, the market is mostly those people so why wouldn't you want to appeal to them? Secondly, those games appeal to everyone (even when some shouldn't), so getting the Maddens and Minecrafts is not only for young men. Everyone buys these games.

Japan is pretty dead, so not having western third party game have a strong presence on your console puts you in a bad position. There are a lot of casuals and families, but they haven been proven to be volatile, and are on mobile currently. The first party games appeal to the family market anyway.

And lower software prices? Nintendo? What?

I also don't really understand the unified console thing, but that's on me. From what I hear, it seems like a Mario Kart would run on both a 4DS and Wii3, right? So only one Mario Kart gets released then. With lower sales? I must be misunderstanding something though.
