Nope. Well technically they were counted at their initial point of sale (POS). So when the owner returned it to Nintendo to fix or whatever, Nintendo fixed it and sells that unit again. But it's already been counted as a sale with the previous owner. And the previous owner's replacement doesn't get "double counted".
So really, there could theoretically be more Wii U units out there in homes due to refurbished sales, but the number is likely too minuscule to even consider.

Well done, Sony! And they achieved all this with almost no significant games throughout the summer. The numbers are going to be even better from now on with the fall lineup slowly arriving.
I for one can't wait to play all these games.

I'm not saying Nintendo needs to be the leader in that market, but instead to just sell enough units so it's not mind numbingly horrible.
What I mean is:
Sell worse than Xbox or PS with the Madden's and CODs, but still enough that games will actually get made for your system.
Maybe like 20-25% of sales for games like this instead of sub-10% to nonexistant.
For games like Lego and Skylanders, they should be leading the console sales if they want to win.
With these to supplement, the 1st party support could make up for the rest and help it be successful.
It may have come off differently before, but in way did I mean Nintendo should strive to like....have a Destiny have it sell the most on their system. That won't happen. Instead, try to have a Destiny or GTA....and it not bomb w101 style.
I think the ultimate issue with third-party multiplatform games is that the 18-35 male audience have two other perfectly serviceable consoles that cater to everything they might want. Again, what motivation would a PlayStation or XBox gamer have to get a Nintendo console over just sticking with PlayStation or Xbox if they aren't a fan of Nintendo's franchises?

Unless you have kids, I don't see that demographic getting much into Nintendo. My kids are the only reason I have a Wii and am planning on getting a Wii U this Christmas. I have enjoyed plenty of games on the Wii over the years, but I doubt I would have gotten it without kids.

I typed a long response, but it was about having 3rd party games as supplements so consumers wouldn't have to choose Madden & COD or Mario, but rather choose by exclusives, specs, features, etc. But it started to sound like the GC and/or n64...sorta. And they failed.
So...dunno. I'm not even sure why those consoles failed so badly tbh.
EDIT:
One thing though. I don't PS or Xbox or Nintendo loyalty is really a big thing as shown by the past few gens. So while a console may be"serviceable" if something better came, people would buy it, at least.
First veratassin and now the Monty chap is banned. NPD threads aren't entertaining w/out some bans, GAF needs more entertainment, while we digest the numbers and contemplate how much more does MS need to do to get back this gen, other than buy EA and make Madden and FIFA exclusive to Xbox One
