66th Primetime Emmy Nominations Announcement

Anyone else angry It's Always Sunny has never been nominated for anything?

Not necessarily. I don't watch It's Always Sunny other than a few stray episodes, but this award shows definitely go for more mainstream comedies over the offbeat ones. That's why you get the god-awful TBBT and Modern Family, as opposed to Parks and Rec or Community, or even It's Always Sunny.

Using that logic, The Walking Dead is superior to most HBO programming because it has huge ratings.
Was talking about the "overblown praise" comment, not ratings. And isn't AMC more accessible for the average person since it's basic cable?

Basically every show in existence has some number of fans out there calling it the greatest thing of all time. Hell, every single piece of entertainment in human history has fans like that. But that doesn't make all praise of something "overblown". Not everyone is hyperbolic like that. Just need to ignore the crazies on both ends of the spectrum. Practically nothing out there is the greatest thing ever or the worst thing ever these days.

I think it got it's first nomination last year in a throw away category and lost. The show is so dark and has such an unrelentingly bleak view about human nature I can sort of understand the Academy shying from it. But it's a real shame that none of the gang ever get nominated. I don't think they've ever even gotten a Golden Globe nomination either.

And then the LORD David Bowie saith to his Son, Jonny Depp: 'Go, and spread my image amongst the cosmos. For every living thing is in anguish and only the LIGHT shall give them reprieve.'
I can understand peoples' problem with True Detective. It's a disappointment if you go in expecting the greatest crime story or something that does innovative things with the procedural format. It turns out to be pretty standard stuff in that respect, but that's not really why I watched. The characters are amazing, the writing takes them to great places, it's got more of that going for it than any show on TV.

True Detective was fine but it was no Fargo, that's for sure.

Which brings me to my surprise with Alison Tollman as a supporting Actress. Not lead for her?

The idea is that by entering her in supporting actress, her chances are higher at winning, and judging by the choices, it's probably a lock for her. It's FX juking it so they get more wins over the other networks.

Missed the entire nominations. Nice to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles somehow get a nomination with all the big boy programing.

The Miniseries category is an absolute joke that the Emmy's really need to figure out.

Apparently a Mini-Series means three different things:

-A single season of a serialized anthology show. (American Horror Story, Fargo, but not True Detective for some reason)
-A one-off season of television. (The White Queen)
-A season of an on-going series that is less than 6 episodes (Treme, Luther.)

I dunno, these all sound like super different things to me.

The category is an absolute embarrassment, for sure. They really need to (re)establish some rules, make an "anthology" category, or rename it to "short form storytelling" or something. Cause right now it makes no sense.

She's going up against Kathy Bates (an Emmy favorite), Angela Bassett, Ellen Burstyn, and Julia Roberts. I'd say she's far from a lock.

"EMMY WINNING THE BLACKLIST RETURNES TO NBC THIS FALL! BEST SHOW EVA GUYS! -NBC

In all seriousness, how in the world does a show like The Blacklist win over a show like GoT that has an episode that is clearly an hour of just stunts?!

Maybe they thought more than 4 in the technical categories was too much :p

Oh yeah GoT did well tonight no doubt, but just looking at the list of noms for that field and it seems like one of the bigger no brainer picks.

Even if you pulled GoT out of that category, I don't think I would pick The Blacklist tho.

How does that shit even get nominated? I mean, do the people choosing the nominees even watch television? My god.

How does this category work for returning shows? Just added cast in a new season?

I think so.

I was just thinking Game of Thrones is really not a character driven show, but if anyone is a good actor/ actress in that show its Cersay
