Edit:

Hi again all! Great news for some, promising news for others:

It's been quite a bit of back and forth regarding the cross-buy for SteamWorld Dig, that is, getting a discount for the Wii U version if you already own the 3DS version. We're pleased to reveal that NOE has been able to implement this today. Everyone in the EU, AUS and NZ who owns SteamWorld Dig for 3DS will get a 25% discount when getting SteamWorld Dig for Wii U.

Unfortunately, NOA (Nintendo of America) does not have this mechanism in place - a cross-buy like this isn't possible yet for our American customers, and we don't know when they will have it. Sorry, nothing we can do.

It's taken us some time to get this in place... we consider it at least half a victory. :) Happy gaming!

List of changes:

HD graphics: Beautiful, high-resolution (1080p) graphics
Eye candy: Animated character portraits, bloom filter, tweaks and polish
Customizable screen interface and controls
Languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Russian
Clutter-free HD graphics. The map and other interface elements are now displayed on the Wii U GamePad
Off-TV Play. Continue digging on the Wii U GamePad even when your TV is occupied or turned off
Support for Wii U Pro Controller
And maybe there’s an Easter egg somewhere?

Coming out next week (August 28) in Europe (including Australia) and the Americas. There's also some screens here!

Hadn't they mentioned previously they were looking into crossbuy promotion (discount) for people that already own the 3DS version? No update on that, huh?

Any prizing info? Are they still doing that thing where if you own it on 3DS, you get a discount on Wii U?

Edit: lol seems like that's the question on everyone's mind

At least you can talk. Who are you?
Last I heard about crossbuy was that they were "looking into it", maybe they decided against it or they couldn't go about it. But for $9.99 / €8.99 / £6.99, that's not a bad price at all.

Well, we'll know next monday with NoE's weekly PR for downloads :)

Bought this game randomly knowing nothing of it. It was so damn fun and charming. Its short and sweet I loved it.

Ask me about the GAF Notebook
Sort of want, but not paying even $10 for it when I own the 3ds version.

If people haven't played it though it's a great game at $10.

Howdy folks,

We'll have an answer for you on the crossbuy (discount for Wii U customers that already bought SteamWorld Dig on the 3DS) by TOMORROW THURSDAY AT THE LATEST. Getting this clarified has been an interesting little loop. :)

The PS4/Vita/PC/Mac/Linux versions all run at 60 fps (provided you're not using the ancient excuse for a PC that is rotting away next to my desk), and we've clocked the Wii U version - it's definitely at 60 fps as well.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free

Thanks, looking forward to it - a WiiU discount for 3DS owners would be very cool.

I'm surprised it wasn't 1080p/60fps on all platforms on day one.

Looking forward to firing it up on my U... err, in a couple of weeks when it comes back from repair. If that cross-buy is enticing enough I may pick it up for 3DS in the mean time, so I'm all ears.

Are there any plans to add multiplayer (coop or otherwise) to this game? I'd love to be able to play this with my roommates.

Can't wait - glad it's 1080/60 though I expect to play the bulk of it on the Gamepad! Cross buy with 3DS would be nice but eirher way I am getting it.

Did the 3DS release have Russian? It is just when I think Russian translated games on Nintendo systems Mario is about the only thing that comes to mind (yes even Mario & Luigi Dream Team Bros with its huge volume of text).

Seems like there is no cross-save between 3DS/WiiU version.....which made me realize - is Monster Hunter 3U the only game that offers cross-save functionality on 3DS/WiiU ?

Will double dip! Game was amazing on the 3DS. I just wish the was some sort of promotion/price reduction for the people that already own the original.

It does, but I believe you need a special tool for it, no? Probably too much of a hassle for the devs, especially since this version comes out much sooner than expected.

True, you need the MH3U transfer tool to cross-save. I really hope that Nintendo offers some kind of cloud-support in the future like Guacamelee and co. offer on PSV/PS3. I know they have Pokemon Bank, but a general cloud save system with every NNiD or system having having a couple megabytes of cloud space would be nice for the future.

Ah, cool! Totally missed your answer :(

Added to the OP!

I really wonder why NoA doesn't have the mechanism for cross-buy discounts...

Very sorry to see that the discount won't be applied to NA owners of SteamWorld Dig. Can't quite justify paying for it full priced twice.

That being said, anyone who hasn't bought it yet really needs to. Its an absolutely excellent game. One of my favorites from 2013.

Oh yes! Also nice if our console dies, at least our saves will be fine unlike now!

This is much needed. I can rebuy games or console, I can't rebuy the time I spent playing them and unlocking stuff. I really hope they get on this!
