Nothing assuming a big release doesn't come in the holidays or during a price drop. Smash Bros would, but it probably launching in December in Japan which would have been over 30k anyway.

And damn my predictions were pretty close! HW beat me by 9K and Wii U was right on the money. Pretty satisfied with that, wasn't expecting a huge bump. I'm more curious to see how HW does in the West, even though it probably won't do well enough to get picked up by NPD. Still, maybe it can break 200K LTD in Japan. If it does like 350K LTD WW, would that be enough for a sequel? I'm not sure how musou games generally sell

That Yokai Watch 2 game....Level 5 must be pretty darn happy no? That thing seems like it has legs. Of course, I don't know what I'm talking about. But I haven't seen a title sit there like that for a while.

I was honestly expecting around double that for HW. That doesn't seem too great for a major brand like Zelda :/

Then again, isn't Zelda more popular in the west than Japan? Could it do better here? Hope so.

I don't think you realize what MH Frontier actually is.

It's a subscription based MMO, you can download the client for free. This is just some collector's edition.

Good for HW and YW2 seems to be on its way to break 3M before the end of the year. I hope Nintendo will be able to bring a price cut in september to push up the WiiU baseline a little more. But I know I'm fooling myself...

Uh, what? Sony isn't willing to extend the same sweetheart deals it gives to indies to Japanese developers to get it going over there?

When single digit person teams can release games on the platform, I'm guessing development cost isn't the issue. Publishing physical games and other costs seem much more likely.

According to Famitsu it's the longest any title has ever held the first place spot since Monster Hunter Portable 3rd which was 3 years ago.

I can't see that helping. I have seppuku on my phone as it's much easier to play on a touchscreen. I can't see people buying a console to play an inferior version of a number puzzle.

Funny thing is that they were at their peak when they made games they wanted to make instead of thinking globally like they do now.

Sony should push efforts to make the return for "B" level games, not everything needs to look like the latest and greatest.

If someone came out and made HD looking RPGs, for example, at between the PS2 and PS3 levels then I'm sure their audience would eat them up as long as they were great games. Thanks to the shift to handheld and mobile gaming they are after all used to lower level visuals. Style also goes a long way.

They need to get back to making good games basically instead of trying to match/copy the west.

Not to mention if DLC plans ends up having paid DLC I know lots of people will gladly pay it which would contribute to it.

Dont expect a price drop this year - they will bank on Bundles and Smash again. 2015 is the year for a price drop, on handhelds as well the WiiU.
