It's interesting that Edge have started crediting features writers recently. Used to be the case that the magazine had one editorial voice save for the guest columnists. Speaking of which, I wish they'd bring back that Famitsu PS2 editor who wrote all his articles about Final Fantasy XI.

What's the beef with Oddworld?

From what I heard it's a good review (in terms of the comments) but picks up on issues with the old-school aspects of the design. I'm yet to read it though, so could be wrong.

Was obviously hoping for a higher score.

Cool thread. Looks like this is going to be another fantastic issue from Edge as always. I bought the most recent one that focused on the Xbox One and read it on the train and thought that cover to cover it was impeccably well written and produced. What's with the review for Oddworld though? I've followed the OT and the reactions here on GAF and wider reviews elsewhere has been almost universally positive. Most reviews scored it quite highly. I thought the game was pretty good?

Is this just a case of Edge being overly harsh again?

I'm interested in the making of Strider, be it the original '89 arcade game or the recent 2014 game.

What happened with the full game? Played the game jam version and thought it was neat.

Characters that die in one chapter show up in the next, making the outcome of any given scenario (outside of win/lose) meaningless. This is unforgivable for a story-driven type of game, which it is. And it doesn't give the player enough feedback to know what is affecting their chances of success, and throws randomness into the mix to further frustrate the player.

I rather get it retail, but if I can't I'll get it digital. Some time ago you could buy the English version of EDGE here, but I don't know if you can still do it.

You'll be able to do that but it might take a while I think.
