Nintendo reveals the "New Nintendo 3DS" and "New Nintendo 3DS LL"

Lost one and upgraded another.

The only annoyance was the length of time it took for a CSR to call me back. (And my lost MoHun/SMTIV progress)

Still shouldn't be this hard though.

even with having to wait for a CSR to call back, it is still a vast improvement over having to have both systems present for system transfer.

I really hope noa provides an upgrade service. That would ease a lot of my issues with this new line of 3ds devices.

Nah, call it first :) , since they already show a clear 3DS, also the atomic purple ref is the GameBoy Color, I'm right?

This is one way to lose consumer trust. Like how Sega ditched their CD periphal for the 32x, then ditched that for the Saturn. Then they cut western Saturn support. By the time DC came out, consumer trust was way too low and Sega was already too much money in the hole.

Ah man, so many memories, first system was atomic purple GBC.

So the 3DS early adopters had the pleasure of paying $250 for a system that Nintendo supported for 3 years. XL owners got 2 years. Man, fuck this shit. MS and Sony better not do this.

What are you even talking about, lol. I wasn't around here when the DSi got revealed, I wonder if the reaction was the same.

I bought the 3ds day one.
I upgraded to the 3dsXL.
I want to upgrade to this. I truly do. But my 3dsXL is the Animal Crossing Edition and no way am I abandoning that.

If you kept the 3DS basic, sell it, save a bit and buy the new one. My little cousin have the AC one (beautiful edition) and I was torned to buy it but I was waiting for something worth it (second stick was my main wish), here we are!

I did the same but I still have both the OG and my Pikachu XL. Will be upgrading my OG to the New 3DS because of the colored buttons and swappable plates.

I really hope 0.33in bigger screen is significant. The OG screen was a pain to look after getting used to the XL.

Can someone tell me where's the SD card slot? I re-watched the video and it only showed the MicroSD and you have to remove the back cover as well? That's going to be annoying.

I need a white LL. I never bought a 3DS because it never released in white in the US. It is time.

Colored buttons make me so happy.

The one system that has been stolen from me. It wasn't my favorite game but it was one of my favorites on the Gamecube so the franchise itself was special to me. At least I still have my box. D:

I'm fine with their support the last few years, and was ready for the dated-feeling 3DS hardware to get a bump (in fact, I wish we weren't getting a DSi-style half-step, but the next platform probably isn't anywhere close to ready, especially if it's the console/portable hybrid structure people are expecting).

But speaking of the first year, they did flop that initial 3DS launch hard. The eShop in particular not being available until months after launch was pretty impressive. Nintendo efforts were generally short (Steel Diver, Pilotwings) or low on content (Nintendogs + Cats, only three cats between the three games in total), the ones that weren't were bringing back old N64 games for another go around (Ocarina of Time 3D, Star Fox 64 3D). They were supposedly giving the 3rd parties a clear shot. But the 3rd parties phoned it in at best, or didn't have enough time to prepare quality titles for the platform. (Probably a bit of both in some cases.) And when the titles started actually coming, and the system finally looked like it was getting decent, they cut 1/3rd the price off. I'd spent $80 extra to play Dead or Alive Dimensions, Ocarina of Time again, and fiddle with the AR a bit.

"But... but you got NES ROMs! And GBA ROMs!"

Of games I mostly owned and played as much as I wanted to play them years ago.

I guess it's better we're getting a platform refresh that theoretically improves future games while retaining compatibility with older 3DSes, as opposed to a rushed, barren launch again.

microSD only.

Damn, that kinda sucks. Looks like I'll have to buy a new one. Oh well, I'll probably just use my SD card for my sister's camera or just use it myself. Not a dealbreaker since SD cards are cheap.

How can this happen ?
Don't they know how to read ?

What annoys me the most is that some people think that their 3DS/3DSXL are apparently "useless" when the system can still play almost all DS games and all 3DS games except for Xenoblade. It's like the end of the world for some people and they feel like they're forced to buy the New 3DS because the regular 3DSs won't have anymore support.

The more I think about this, I'm almost positive this will be called one of the following outside Japan:

3DS Advance

or

Advance 3DS

Well, the n3DS comes with a 4GB microSD if that is of any help.

Then people will be like:

WHERE ARE THE GBA VC GAMES!?!?!

Way too confusing, regardless of how cool it sounds IMO.

Uh, well I think it's fair to be annoyed over a game that you can't otherwise play. That's kind of the whole point of many poster frustrations.
