The game has been in development for PS4. It won't be the cause of a delay. Although the game was delayed from original plans, for other reasons.

Not really. Persona 4 came out on Playstation 2 two years after the Playstation 3 was released and it did really well. I think what they're doing with 5 is the best course of action because now they're taking advantage of the install base on the Playstation 3 and creating a more attractive version for the Playstation 4 for anyone who wants that. So as a "business point of view", it's smarter to cater to the largest install base. So not PS4/Vita.

I've actually never played Catherine, but I saw a lot of gameplay videos. Sounds interesting. I may try out P4 to see how I like it.

If you have a Vita, be sure to play the Golden rerelease for it instead of the original game. It has a wealth of new content and fixes some of the bullshit of the original game, such as randomized inheritance of skills.

I was so pissed when I saw that they had taken out this animation from the PSP port.

I kinda feel like the protag's subdued understated design is very much intentional due to the game's supposed themes of restraint and emancipation. I imagine that breaking free from the shackles of modern society and finding one's identity will play a major role in the story.

Fortunately this announcement does nothing for me, I got my PS4 to play many games but this wasn't one of them, since buying it I've barely turned on my PS3, it has more than enough great games to satisfy my gaming needs.

A lot of people say this, but I have trouble understanding it. Why is being able to play a game on the big screen worse than playing on a tiny one?
If it's because you need to share the TV, Persona 5 will likely have a great story that people wouldn't mind watching you play through.

Quick boot/sleep, can play it on a plane when I am away from the tv.

It is stupid, but booting up a PS3/PS4, turning on the tv, and loading up a disc is a mental hurdle. I just like my RPGs to be on a handheld. Exactly why I never bought Xenoblade but I will get it on the N3DS

I'm sure you didn't mean it like this, but a lot of us are not PC gamers you know, some of us don't have the luxury of turning our computers into gaming PC's. For those of us who enjoy multiplatform as well as exclusive and indie releases that we really could not get anywhere else, PS4 is really becoming a great console to own.

I have about 30 games i have on my list i want to buy already counting the games announced at the conference, and i already just bought Metro Redux just a few days ago.

That's a hell of a lot for a console just barely out of its first year on market. I could definitely not say the same when i first bought my launch 360.

I agree, I was looking at the Sony hardware sales since the title is exclusive. Current strategy is good to sell to the existing base, yes, for Atlus as a game editor.

The only games that aren't Sony exclusive are the Arena games and Q. God knows why Arena is on 360, and I guess Q is only on DS because it's an Etrian Odyssey game at it's core.

I always thought Arena/Catherine were testing the waters for Microsoft consoles. That obviously didn't work but hey, Ultimax is getting a 360 release here but not in Japan so who knows what could happen.

Anyway, I think it's safe to say if you want Persona you're best off sticking with Sony consoles. It's the only sure way.
