Azure Striker Gunvolt |OT| thunderbolts and lightning, very very frightening

Can it be on the same mission over & over, as long as the song plays? So far, I can only get 1000+ on the very first stage.

different stages give different song though. There are 7 songs in total (1st stage and other 6 bosses missions) ie.Subaquatic Base unlocks Nebulous Clock , Media Tower unlocks Azure Door etc.

I would recommend getting Lethal Lavaliere+ first (increase kudos by 20%, unlock by crafting Geist Locket, about 180k credits to craft ), it would make your life much easier. Also remember to use offensive or go through check point once you reach 3k in case you may mess up something

Damn, in true Mega Man fashion, the final boss is hard. Does anyone have any tips for beating him?

I love how Mighty Gunvolt's
final boss is the guy you didn't get to fight in the main game. His mirror abilities were really cool.

I was actually looking forward to that fight since I played Mighty Gunvolt first and it was the coolest boss in the game, but then it never happened haha

I can make it past the first phase of the final horsejitt boss if I use my healing cooldowns, but then the horsejitt Gundam kills me. I don't get how I'm supposed to dodge all that horsejitt in the human phase. This is horsejitt. How do I get the robot anime angel to turn me into sage mode super saiyan when I die?

Nova's first form is way harder than his second. I recommend using your cooldowns on him ASAP. As soon as I open his shield I hit him with the sword, and that gives more time to hit him, and he's pretty open on his last health bar segment.

As for the second phase, you just have to keep dodging. Make sure you tag both his helpers then open up on his core. It's good to have the double jump item since it gives you more time to react to the left helper's wave move.

Tips if anybody needs them.

I didn't use Naga (5 tags allowed) when I fought the final boss. However, that will help the second form.

Try to predict what attacks the boss will do by associating the battle cries with the attacks.

First form. Early note - Be more restrained with your tag, train yourself only to shoot when you have an opening. This is the first fight where you really get penalized for indiscriminately shooting, as opposed to previous fights.

If the boss laughs, he will do the dashing attack, and the dashing attack always sweeps the ground. just jump over it. The boss always travels a set distance, he doesn't always head to the walls or the center or something like that.

When the boss sends out rings, this is your prime opportunity to disable the boss's support and to tag. That there are two patterns of rings doesn't 'really matter, because ideally you are on the other side of him when he sends them out. Do note however, that the boss's position can vary wildly (left, center, right, etc.) when doing the attack, but he will always be off the ground. This should be a tell.

Once his first gauge is gone, he'll do the attacks that send out orbs. He always starts in the ceiling.

The non-homing orb attack where he dashes across the ceiling is easier to avoid than it might look at first. The space between the points where the orbs hit the ground is quite big. They are also always perfectly spaced. You'll want to note that there's a lot of "free space" below him that the boss doesn't attack once he reaches the opposite side of where he started the attack. You might lose your tag trying to keep up with him but that's okay.

The homing orb attack can be dodged handily when you're constantly moving but when moving with purpose. Ideally, move forward at first, because if nothing else you can watch the spacing and timing of the orbs as they hit the ground. I make a habit of moving straight in one direction, climbing up a wall, then climbing down. Do not rapidly climb up or down the wall unless you are crazy confident in this.

The boss's final gauge attack is straightforward. When the diagonal orbs come out, dash in either direction. When the vertical/horizontal orbs come out. full jump either left or right. the last attack will home in on you once it forms.

You want to save your SP for the second form for a couple of reasons...anyway, I really like this fight.

Does anyone know where the gems in the Biochem Plant and the Submerged whatchamacallit are?

SUBAQUATIC BASE
In the section that floods -- it's in the third upward climb segment (after the room with the shutters) behind a missile-pod enemy to the right after you climb two sets of platforms.

BIOCHEM PLANT
Inside the plant, after the emergency room with the lava pit in the middle and conveyor belts on the sides -- You will immediately come to a large pile of assorted boxes of all four types. Note, this is a puzzle.

  1. Destroy the first two heavy boxes and the two light boxes under the leftmost explosive box. This will cause the first explosive to fall.
  2. Tag it with one shot and it will destroy the light box under it.
  3. Move to where that light box was and shoot the other light box that was directly next to it, as well as the heavy box that was behind this one. This will cause another group of boxes to drop.
  4. Shoot the explosive box that is now on the ground directly in front of you.
  5. Move up and tag the heavy box just in front of the gem.
  6. Back away once you've tagged it before you use Flash Field and then destroy the box, causing two more explosive boxes to fall down.
  7. Hit the explosive box and you can now access the gem.

I fought the last boss... without headphones (3DS on mute).... (i was commuting)
this sounds like it would make things much easier...

Ok so I don't really know much about this game other than it's apparently Mega Manish? And Inafune is involved? I know a lot of people were hyping it up.

Is this actually any good or was it overhyped? How long is it? Worth it for the $15? Looking to jump into something.

It's kind of like the Mega Man Zero games on GBA and DS, but there's no sword. You zap everyone with lightning and you have a handgun. It's not an arm cannon, although you can get gear that will let you charge it. It has 12 stages. I think it has about the same content as those games. It's a good game.

I'm fucking loving this game, so much that I feel the time for me to say this has come:

Fuck off Capcpom, we don't need to (pointlessly) beg you to make Mega Man games anymore.

S+ ranks are so haaaaaaaard!

I repeated Merak's stage for about 4 hours last night. I only manage to make it to the end without getting hit about half the time, and when I do, I just cannot manage to no-damage clear the guy. Either his Blodia-punch comes out on the side I didn't expect, or he Dhalsim-punches once more than I thought he would, or whatever. One time, I even missed with Luxcalibur for the final blow - and the time after that, I hit with it, but it didn't kill, and I got bodied by Lazy Laser as I stood there in shock.

And despite all that, I'm still pretty sure Merak is the easiest robot master to no-damage clear. Copen and Nova are easier, though - I've managed them already.

It's fantastic and absolutely worth every penny, but it's not Mega Man. There have been a couple of posters so far in this thread who went in expecting Mega Man and came out disappointed, so be wary. Its similarities to Mega Man are all superficial: being a sidescrolling action game, choosing which level to go to, and the Zero / ZX-like aesthetic. When it comes down to actual gameplay, the difference is clear: Gunvolt is a time/score-attack game. The challenge isn't in beating the levels or bosses, but in doing so with style.

I'm pretty happy that most of GAF took to this game well. I had something more negative to say about how ImportGAF took to it, but the best answer here is. . . It's not for everyone. Especially if you were looking for traditional Megaman.

This game gives you a lot of room for creativity for how you want to solve all its problems. I personally suck right now at it, but im liking the dash system and the ability to follow your projectiles. Im sure were gonna see some cool looking runs sometime.

Nothing besides what a boss gauntlet ensues. Knowing the patterns and testing your mettle. Having double jump if you didn't before helps too.

Yet another question. I got Sinner's Row unlocked before
I beat the first 6 bosses
at that point I have only given 3 gems to Joule.

I finished the game, got the rest of the gems, and then talked to Joule, gave her one of them. She deosn't seem to accept the other 2, every time I talk to her the gem conversation doesn't go up. Is there something else I have to do to get the pendant?

Alright I've searched though the internet and found nothing. On the boss rush,
how do I defeat the purple lady? No matter how much times I keep defeating the 2 clones, the 3rd one comes and revives them, :|

I defeated the two at the same time, she revived them. Did the same again, and then she was done for good. I think she will only revive them once as long as you beat both of them at the same time.

She can revive both of them two times. And those two can revive each other two times if you're not quick about it. You can't kill or hurt the crazy one.

A few things i wouldve liked in the game so far: super wall jumps, enemy respawns when you re-enter a screen, and faster load times.

This is awesome so far, and I've been enjoying Mighty Gunvolt as well. A nice break from Shovel Knight which was pretty damn hard at times, but I can tell that getting A (Or S?) ranks isn't going to be a walk in the park either. Love the style, true SNES/Genesis spritework here.

As someone who used to work on sprites myself, seeing so many games which choose to use them over 3D models and animations made in flash is awesome.

Just started playing this. Beyond the anime nonsense story, the graphics and gameplay of both this and Mighty Gunvolt are my jam. I play as Beck in Mighty Gunvolt to get my Mega Man fix.

Didn't expect to get a free download code for backing Mighty No.9 - but I did, and have no use for it since I already bought Azure.

Sooooo..... who wants it? PM me if you want a free copy of Mighty Gunvolt!

Edit: all gone!

I have a code for Mighty Gunvolt, since I don't live in North America I have no use for it. Pm to claim.

Edit: gone

I missed free codes! :(

I'm still not sure about $15 for this game as I'm not big on high score kind of stuff. Is it enough content for a single playthrough of the story?

Is it replayable in terms of the game mechanics being fun to play around with?

This is interesting. There's some censorship of death in US Gunvolt? Defeating the Sumeragi folks at least first time, their swords don't completely break. Maybe that changes later, but I'm absolutely positive in JP they completely break regardless. Although, it might make more sense this way considering the gauntlet.

Thats weird if thats supposed to be the censorship since when the boss from the underwater stage returns (forgot his name), Gunvolt specifically mentions that hes shocked to see him back from the dead and the end of the boss rush reveals how they were revived.

Might just be along the lines of how Mavericks in the Megaman X series gets "deleted", as actual death is too heavy handed? The intended target audience is a lot younger? Makes you wonder though, how many Gunvolt players are 20-30 somethings that grew up with Megaman.

On other cuts, seems like they cut most of Joule's personal conversations too on top of the other banter.

This was me a couple days ago:

i-don-t-need-it-o.gif

Even though the game is almost $18 in Canada (tax included). It's Inti Creates, so might as well support them. At first I wasn't digging the tag mechanic and the easiness of the game because of Prevasion. Later though, I warmed up to both. I found it super odd that instead of equipping 2 rings and/or bracelets you are wearing like eye implants. WTF?

Now I just got the bad ending after 6 hrs of gameplay and I gotta say that Gunvolt needed some more time in the oven. The enemy variety is non-existent and while the boss fights were fun, they are no-where near as challenging as MMZ bosses. Also, trading materials through Streetpass was such a wasted opportunity. The little amount of levels didn't bother me at all because Inti Creates are great at level design, but like all good things you always want more. This game with maybe 2 more bosses and 1 more in-between stage and double the enemy variety would have been a 10/10. Right now it's a solid 7.5/10, might go up or down depending on how good the content for the real ending is.

EDIT: Also the localization was pretty shit. The dialogue was complete nonsense at times.

This is unfortunately true. They however do a great job with the placement of those enemies
in the 4 gauntlet levels, particularly the flamethrowers. A shame the whole game didn’t reach that level of difficulty.

I’ve only S ranked the first stage so far, this is going to take a while to 100% if I ever can. Yes, Gunvolt has a few faults, but it’s a great setup for a second game that hopefully fixes them, much like how each Zero game progressively got better.
