+ Newcomers overall are pretty wonderful and I'd say better balanced than Brawl's.
+ Content in general looks great. Love the new classic mode and the whole game looks packed.
+ Game just looks great. Gameplay and aesthetics wise. Both of those things I'm ready to be done with Brawl on big time.

- Some very odd and even off-putting character choices.
- Devestating cuts, some taking entire gameplay styles with them, and me personally losing my favorite character. Wolf was also a strong favorite of mine.
- Certain problems still not addressed, particularly with veterans and Final Smashes.
- Dark Pit. Fuck Dark Pit. His face is stupid.

I still can't wait to get my copy. I need to play it for myself to see how fun it is. I hope the gameplay is fine tuned enough so I can overcome these negatives and make this my definitive Smash game.

There are 5 clones. That's not really a lot when the roster is over 50 (counting all three Mii characters.)

There are also, by my count, 11 sword characters. So, only 1/5th of the roster. Most of those are veteran characters too.

"We have no plans for DLC [a year and a half before launch]" doesn't mean "there won't be DLC soon after the game is released."

DLC can come out tomorrow and it wouldn't have to be on disc/on cart.

I have a LOT of people at the office who will be playing Smash on 3DS during breaks, so local only is no problem for me.

Wario is definitely my main, but I'm glad my Melee main is back so I'll use him a lot too. Bowser Jr is my favorite newcomer as well and I plan on using him.

Also does anyone else think DHD looks shit (graphically) on the 3DS?

I thought he look really low poly in comparison to other characters and the textures seemed a bit bad (mainly talking about the dalmation alt here, the screen resolution doesn't do it any favours).

ROBs new Final Smash shoots a massive laser forward.

It causes multiple hits, the laser stops and then ROB shoots a burst that has high knockback

thats it :p

I'm pretty happy with the roster. Considering Nintendo's DLC initiative with its evergreen games, I know it'll get some new characters in the future.

Duck Hunt and Bowser Jr. look like really fun characters to play.

There are some weird character choices that were clearly chosen to just fill out the roster and I'm still kind of miffed at some veterans (particularly old clones) not getting new moves.

So where does that put me?

Local Only Smash Run is a darn shame. I was worried about that since the Smash Direct.

However, I already knew that I'd still have fun playing with computers despite it. I also have a few friends to play with every now and then.

How is this at all a fair interpretation of what Sakurai said? This is someone who was working (late?) on his birthday and has literally worked until he nearly lost use of his hands. He's not perfect by any means, but he certainly does not strike me as lazy.

I think a fair interpretation might be, it's similar to saying, "After we meet our key milestones and release date, then we can consider what else we can add. Until then, we are focusing on core requirements."


For everyone talking about R.O.B.'s final smash, but no one describing -- can anyone please describe it?

Regarding lag, due to North American internet infrastructure in particular, I'm literally not sure if there is ANY possible way to avoid lag problems completely, since there will always be people with wifi, or poor connections, or routing going through congested nodes, or whatnot.
