Hyrule Warriors: new playable characters revealed during livestream

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!
So, if I get this correctly, we have 3 characters for free, and other 3 characters by buying the packs.

And it seems pre-ordering DLCs, is going to be a thing from now on on eShop, sincd this is the second time it happens, after Mario Kart 8. At this point, I'm wondering when we're going to be able to preorder games as well through eShop. It can't be that far off, come on Nintendo.

Pre-order starts on September 30.

Hmm, so that's what, 16 characters in the base game, with 3 more as DLC? Which should bring us to over 25 styles.

That's less disappointing, yeah.

MAJORA'S MASK!!!

Please let one of the playable characters Makau.

Edit: Forgot about Fierce Deity. I'd also be happy with Fierce Deity.

Betting on Hero's shade for the TP character and Tingle as one of the MM characters.

Might be more likely as a costume, unless they really wanted to make use of the Golden Wolf. Though I guess that'd also rule out Magic Armour, Zora Armour or the nigh-essential Sumo outfit...

Tingle and Skull Kid pretty much confirmed! Amazing news! I wonder who the TP character is... Maybe Hero's Shade?

Also, about 30$ for all the packs... That's kind of a lot compared to MK8's DLC.

Different companies deciding the prices, this is Koei not Nintendo.

I still want to play as the most powerful person in all of Zelda Lore.
The Shopkeeper of Mabe Village in Link's Awakening.

One of the two TP characters was Agatha so I wouldn't say anyone is confirmed yet. No one in a million years outside of as a joke would have picked Agatha if I said "2 TP characters"

I really don't think Tingle will make it considering Nintendo's attitude towards him... Majora's Mask has many other candidates for playable character anyway.

Fierce Deity could work as a weapon that changes Link's appearance, like how
if you use the Great Fairy weapon you basically play as her, not Link.

But Gold Mario in Mario Golf!
It's the 3rd time.

30$ dlc for a 60$ game? That's kinda too much, but I don't know how much content is that.

Can someone please tell me how much content is that compared to the game?

Thanks.

Well, new adventure maps are a pretty big deal there. There is only one in the main game.
We don't have detail about the new scenario but only that should double the game content.
Then new characters/movesets are always nice.

$30!? Geez, that's a lot. Do we think that pricepoint may be somewhat different outside Japan? I know they have bigger prices sometimes. I mean, I don't know how much content this will add, but $30 seems pretty steep to me unless these added Maps and Scenario are significant additions.

Woah, what? Has this been said? If true, I guess that means the price may not be that bad if we're getting over half the content of the original by pre-purchasing.

I hope Skull Kid is one of the MM characters, but I doubt it. Hyrule Warriors secret character spoilers"
When you play as the GreatFairy, one of her attacks summons the moon from MM.

That was a season pass, here it seems you can just preorder the packs you want, including all three of them, getting a discounted price and Dark Link skin. The same as MK8.

Hopefully, they start doing this with full games as well soon.

Not asking pre-downloading for now, 'cause maybe it'd be asking too much :lol

=O wait, do they potentially mean an entirely new map with all new tiles? like an adventure mode map of the TP overworld, or whatever pack it's in?! =O

Hm, isn't that pretty much exactly what a season pass is, though? The only real difference I see is that you outright pay for it upfront in Nintendo's version (granting that this will be like MK8, anyway).

Aren't you paying upfront for all season passes everywhere? All the ones I bought did that. Isn't that the whole point? Getting the benefit of a reduced price because you committed to buying them all upfront?

Oh well, I may be showing my ignorance then; I've never actually bought a season pass for games. I always assumed it was like buying one for TV shows, you committed to buying it and got the content as it came with a discount when it arrived. Am I wrong?

EDIT: And everyone seems surprised by the fact that you had to pay for the Mario Kart 8 stuff upfront, so I just that feed my assumption.

Nope, Hyrule Warriors DLC is exactly like an season pass. You pay a discouted price upfront, and get the content when it's released.

The price looks kinda steep, but I'll wait and see how much content there is on each pack before judging. Also, the price is only for the tree 1200 packs, or is the Ganon pack also included?

The difference between this and other season passes is that you know what you are getting. A lot of the ones people have a problem with basically say there'll be DLC coming without any hint as to what that DLC is. So you are gambling that the DLC will be worth the initial down payment.

Well there're 3 DLC... also we should wait and see for an offcial price anoucement for the West.

I'm very happy about all this DLC news. 3 new characters on top of the Koei Originals is awesome. And if I am correct when they say new Adventure map I believe they mean a complete new map full of stages for Adventure mode which is gonna be crazy.

I hope one of the MM characters is Fierce Deity.

The 3 characters are probably Skull Kid, Tingle and Hero's Shade. Cool DLC, but I wish it didn't take that long to release.

Thanks for the helpful info, I usually skip games with over priced dlc and wait for them to get a discount. Hopefully it's worth it cause I really wanna play this game.

Right, but we pay ~12$ for 1 character, a weapon, a map and 2 costumes. I guess it's really not that bad but Mario Kart 8 offered imho more things for less money. I feel weird having to pay more than half the price of the full game for DLC.

I guess this is pretty common though... I'm just not that accustomed to this.

So, it's 6 (3 villains + 3 unannounced) total + dark link?

Or is it if you miss the sept 30 update, you have to pay for the 3 via DLC?

Playable Cia...wow that's a surprise.

No, her not being playable already was the surprise. Why would you create entire movelists and special attacks full with animations and voice acting, then not have her be playable. It made no sense for her, Wizro and Dragonbutt to not be playable.

But if it's free DLC, that makes more sense, it was probably a time issue, I am okay with this, Hyrule Warriors goes back to 18 playable characters at launch which is fine with me and pulls it out of the "It's the first iteration so of course the cast is small" weeds.

Good.

This is good.

Nice 6 new playable characters. The villains and three new unknowns. I'm curious as to what the scenarios will be. Taking place in the game's story or something completely new and separate.

To be fair, there's probably a lot more work put into one HW character compared to one MK character.

Silly question but when they say weapon do they mean a new moveset for a character or a new weapon skin for an existing moveset?

Cool, there's DLC for this game :). I can't wait to see Skull Kid, Tingle, Hero's Shade and FD Link in the future :D! I would have loved a Three Masks Link character but we already have a Gorron and a Zeruo character in the game (plus Duku Link represented via Duku Staff weapon), so that would have been redundant :(.

I do wonder if any of these DLC packs will include Wind Waker characters. They do clash with this games look, but having some of the characters from that game (like the Ship of Lions, Terra, and Toon Gannndorf) would be cool :).

They are even added another Adventure map! ....From what I saw from the reviews, that is huge enough by itself....that just getting a whole other map to use....that is a lot of new content.

Great news overall :).
