Just found these on tumblr, are they from a magazine? If not, it should help people get to know the cast, lol.

I am in love with this picture. The artwork, world and the characters look so cool! This has quickly become my most wanted game. What an amazing picture

I expressed myself wrong the correlation I did was with the cars but true like you said it has no relation with the chauffeur. But the car did change tho
Final-Fantasy-Versus-XIII-Car.jpg

I think I like everyone's new look better except for Noctis and the blond guy. Well, and Stella but I guess we haven't seen her actual look. Facewise I like the old though.

EDIT:
Noctis can see the future? How Xeno. Heh.

Everybody in black, with spiky hair. It's good to see the modern FF games continue their tradition of shitty looking protagonist designs, but whatever, that's just my opinion. Graphics look pretty though, I will give it that. Also, I don't see the vehicles as being a problem, as it seems like a pretty natural progression for this series.

Noctis can see 'death', though we don't know how that exactly works for him.

Does he see a grim reaper hanging around someone who will die soon, or does he actually see the 'future of someone's death'?

It's not properly explained, and it's clearly more a story-related thing than any in-game mechanism.

Incidentally, Stella can see it too.

wasnt it related to his eyes changing color stuff, wonder if thats still in the game

We obviously have vehicles, but if the game is "zoned", won't this exclude airships? If the trailer is anything to go by, the World seems massive in scale!
I don't know if you've had this discussion yet but part of the "Holy SHIT!"-experience as a kid playing FF7 was seamlessly flying around in the Highwind at full speed... I never got tired of it.

we really dont know anything about that, i just dont want it to be enter airship and then choose location where to land from a menu

wow the gamersyde hq video is rad. Just noticed a heard of rhinoceros type dinosaurs walking around at the 48 second mark :O

at first I thought they were driving past rocks lol

Tales from my arse obviously, but I'm pretty confident all of the story stuff are in, as we know them. Maybe some deviation here and there, but the concept of Stella/Noctis, both possessing the light-seeing eye, kingdom getting attacked for the crystals, circumstances pitting both of them together as enemies... I don't see those getting changed.

Its repeated enough times by Nomura from 2006 till now that I feel comfortable saying that there are key tenets to his idea that stuck by him through thick and thin.

Besides, Square is clearly aiming to release this as fast a possible, so even if Tabata doesn't like Nomura's story ideas, he's probably going to roll with everything Nomura had built up before leaving the team.

dont really think tabatas wouldnt or even couldnt change anything at this point, XV is pretty much far in its development to change anything, seeing as nomura left the director chair because the thick of what he wanted and had to do is already done, tabata is basically left in charge of just bringing together all the stuff nomura already started and did

just hope everything nomura wanted to do has been done for XV

The Japanese didn't say "date". It was just something like "oh! It's [she's?] waiting for you over there, huh?"

Also, the way she referred to him in past trailers still shows a certain level of separation between them (Noctis-sama).

Overall the trailer translation was really liberal I thought.

I remember an old FAMITSU interview in which Nomura mentioned airships making a return, but this was a long time ago, before the name-change of course, anyone remember what he said?
And that's one of my biggest fears - It simply needs to nail airships (Well... Vehicle's in general). I loved FFX, but I remember how disappointed I was (knowing nothing about the game before playing, aside from it being a Final Fantasy game and therefore a must-buy... Those were the days) and eventually finding out there would be no exploration, at least not in the traditional sense. Back then, I couldn't quite figure out what was bothering me about it, since I loved everything else (even the cheesy and at times cringe-worthy voice acting), but I just realized it with time.
FFXV just reminds me of those days - I'm sure most of us feel this way - We want the king of JRPG's to return to its former glory!

Yeah, I tried not to think much of it since they obviously have more context than we would. Though someone posted a screen cap from another language earlier in the thread that had a better translation of the radio dialog.

I just wish they had Japanese captions for the Japanese version cause I suck at mumbling male voices :(

Personally I love 12. XIV is a lot like XII too and even has some of the same staff. Probably why I play it so much.

As long as the auto combat isn't back. Sure it was fun to watch the first few times but it got dull fast to watch the auto swings with no input.

She might actually be my favorite gaming composer. It's between her, Yasunori Mitsuda, and Uematsu.

That's what people call the "holy trinity".

To be honest, I've listened/I listen to so much VGM on a weekly basis it's really hard to choose a favorite. I'm about as fickle with composers as I am with favorite game music or even favorite games. A lot of people have done a lot of phenomenal stuff.

Of course, when one's music spawns dozens of orchestral concerts worldwide they're something of a step above the rest. :p

fantastic

Paging Falk for opinions

It's cool. Having heard the original so many times (Shimomura is very, VERY particular and very meticulous in what she wants out of the recording, amazing ears!) the differences/mistakes in transcription are glaring to me, but he did a lot of things right. I don't want to comment any more than that and look like an elitist jerk but it's always awesome to run into other people who are as passionate about VGM, regardless if they're professional or hobbyist.

I feel apart from the graphical fidelity, everything design-wise went to shit with every new update =/. I the old design. It's far, far less generic and superior.

He looked like a Cloud/Sora mutation. Not much of a fan of the current character designs, but they're probably better than that.

Would people mind if they have CGI in the game for the important scene? I always liked that a CGI was a treat to the player for reaching a certain point.

I think it's safe to say that even if the game sucks, the music will be fantastic.

So far all the music's really classical based, opera inspired and classic melodic pieces. I love that over heavy dance-beat inspired stuff with a LOT of electronic music tossed because.... MODERN TREND. This kinda gives FFXV a rather fanciful feel(which I MISS seeing in a lot of JRPGs, because the modern trend seems to push the music towards more dance beats or pop music sound).

This gif shows Noctis' and Luna's best outfits

yup for me the original was better.

I do agree with you on that. However Noctis actual outfit isnt bad either... I mean, the charactes outfits were worse on the last trailers, they redesinged for better again. But still this 1st desing was the best, imo.

Not really. New Noctis looks smarter to me, while the old costume makes him look like wearing garbage bags. As for Stella, nobody knows her final design yet. She just keeps changing.

The same guy who recreated the first part of the trailer music uploaded the second/superior half:

Soooo good. <3 Shimomura <3

So good!

Do someone know where can I download those old FFvsXIII CGIs trailers? Those amazing trailers with a damn good song that started with a shakespear quote if Im not mistaken!

At high quality if possible!

Edit: ya, that one on that gif for example! Amazing!

Here's a good set I just noticed while grabbing the links:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACSpgGAjGfM

It also includes the one included with Advent Children that had the unvoiced early meeting scene with Notcis and Stella.

i'm always amazed when people can pick out tunes like that, getting pretty close, with all the other sound around too. it's real dedication.

any word on the actual classic Final Fantasy theme? we've got the prelude, are you allowed to talk about that piece or will we have to wait till the demo?

At a functional level, I think it's really difficult to implement airships for Final Fantasy's approach to the overworld in the current gen.

Part of the magic of airships was that you travel the entire globe with airships in FF. FF games don't have global travel anymore because the planet map is sacrificed with overworld maps.

The overworld approach allows the games to feel seamless from city to battle to travel, because you are not suddenly pulled out from how it looks to something different. But that also restricts travel to that zone, since you're not seeing the mass world anymore. And in that setting, airship would be really restrictive because you're confined by the limitations of how much assets you could make for that world.

IMO, the only way for airships to work in the traditional sense for 'open zone' games like FFXII and FFXV is if airships travel are their own map that you cannot land on places other than designated landing spots.

Basically, you travel across the globe, but unless there's a landing zone, you can't land there.

Everything that's not public is strictly NDA as far as we as outside contractors are concerned lol. For example even with KH2.5 less than 2 weeks away we're not talking about it at all yet.

Sorry.

I miss the Final Fantasy theme playing during the credits. It needs to always be there! Not some pop song.... or at least put the FF theme after the pop song.

I prefer Noctis's new outfit.

His old outfit looks more epic from an impression's standpoint, but it felt very much like a costume as opposed to clothes, imo. It gave a nice first impression of badass, but then you realise no one else in the Lucis clique is anywhere close to wearing something with that mild gaudiness.

His current outfit actually looks like a reasonable looking casual clothing. It looks less impactful, but it meshes better with the overall enviroment that he's part of.

His old outfit feels like it would've been better suited for someone from a different country in FFXV, like Niflheim.

Play Final Fantasy XIV, bro. Soken is amazing.

I played it for a few months and I did enjoy the music quite a bit (I loved all the classic FF songs played at the perfect moments), but I want it back in a singleplayer entry in the series. I guess Lightning Returns had it being played by one of those street performers, but ehhh...

Strangely enough, looking back at the ancient 2006 trailer, the game seemed to have a darker tone with blood coming out of the enemies while Noctis impaled them. When you attack enemies in the recent trailer, the blood doesn't seem to be there. I wonder if that's because they wanted to make the tone lighter.

Well Dragon Quest VIII begs to differ. IMO, how that's how XV should approach the design of it. You get a vast, closed open world that seamlessly connected between field area, town and dungeon, and approaching the mid-endgame, an airship that goes over the top view from the skies that is capable of landing on clear area, indicated on the ground.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I predict by the time FFXV: Episode Duscae releases, there will be a lot of Noctis x Gladiolus x Ignis fanfics and fanart.

Nice FFV nod! Same exact design too!

At first I didn't know what they were, but pausing the video when one walked near, they are old school FF Goblins(and I mean OLD SCHOOL):

This really is a modern take on a classic FF world.

These are awesome finds. Thank you so much!

Look at this 1st trailer! So epic! I really hope that they deliver those scenes and that darker atmosphere, that would be the best Final Fantasy ever!

After that Noctis wasnt looking so bad ass, and it still is not. Maybe its because what has been showed is happening before the attack? I don't know... but I really hope that they bring that personality back.

Oh man, I completely forgot about how large DQ8 was, thanks for the reminder.

Yeah, DQ8's approach would be nice too.
