Well..... It's puzzling that they don't but they do have the women league in UFC. I would hope they would try but I'm sure they won't. This of course is pulling teeth for them.

Can't believe EA using the Ubisoft excuse. As it implies here that even in the future they wouldn't add women. If it would take multiple years to implement and women's football got popular suddenly they'd be years off or rush female heads on males bodies. Might as well start now and spreading the cost over years then have a big ad campaign once it's near ready.
because most of football fans buy football games to play with their favorite football teams and football players.

They play in separate leagues. You wouldn't see female teams matching up against male ones.
At least not in any realistic "career mode", maybe just as an option for custom games.
I can't name a single NFL player, so I guess EA shouldn't bother with those Madden games either. Who's this Madden guy, anyway?

Haha, Handball is immensely popular here in Germany, especially in the north of Germany. Every German kid has played Handball at some point in their life. I was in a "Verein" (a club) for several years.
It would be nice if they include this but somehow i think the costs for development would be very high and to tell you the truth i doubt they would get anything from it.
Women's football is still far undervalued to have any impact on the game sales sadly, so i'm not sure should i even sign for this petition...

around here Handball and Volleyball are two popular women team sports. In quite a few countries, handball gets crazy attendance numbers in the past few years, decade or so.
Both have professional women leagues in many European countries.
But when it comes to Women soccer, it is really not popular in Europe - handball, volleyball and of course individual sports are a lot more popular. Considering FIFA is mainly targeted to Europe, I doubt it makes sense for them to do a proper Women FIFA.

There isn't much puzzling about that. Women fight on the same card as men. So if you tune into a UFC event to see Jon Jones fight, then you may see Ronda Rousey as well. The only time women's soccer seems to be in the spotlight in the US is during the Olympics or the Women's World Cup. So people could go years without hearing about players that they hear about when those events come around.
I concur. One of the reason why the PES info patches are so popular. Even if I think PES is a better football, there's no way I would play it without the fan patch.

I do wonder whether this is a situation where an untapped market hasn't been found, or perhaps more likely the market isn't given a chance to form BECAUSE "it's not there."
At any rate what's being talked about is fundamentally adding another feature, not a whole new game just for women's football, the former seems like it should be relatively low cost and possibly broaden the market eventually, whereas the latter is more likely to be an irrational risk. Maybe the effort needed is underestimated and if it really does go out and out unprofitable than fair enough, but it does seem sort of like hoping the market just suddenly pops up without giving any reason FOR it to pop up.
Isn't this petition to have female players integrated into the regular FIFA releases? In that case, all of your favorite teams and players will still be there. And if it weren't, then you wouldn't have to buy it either. Either way, you don't lose anything here.
Sure, but it doesn't mean it'll make financial sense though. I mean if I spend $100 making a product and I have the option of spending another $20 to add in a feature, why would I do so if chances are that I won't be making at least $20 extra than if I were to just go with the base $100 product? Even if they're making boatloads of cash either way, I don't see a company like EA being too happy with it. But yeah, would be interesting if they just added in a small number of women's teams to see what happens.

Yeah, aside from USA, Japan, Germany and Brazil, it's almost as if they just tell one of the girls to wear gloves and try to stop goals. It's almost as if they don't get any trainers or proper knowledge of goalkeeping in their NT's. It's so damn weird.

Well, I don't think a women's league game is going to fly but adding some women's teams to an existing game doesn't seem like asking for too much.

I'm not against having female football players but it doesn't make sense for EA to add this if it will be played by only a small pourcentage of their userbase.

Well, I wouldn't necessarily bet on "it doesn't make financial sense".
If it's true that female football has an abysmal following, on the other hand I could easily see the first franchise including female teams getting a lot of free press coverage out of it.
And it's not hard to imagine that even people who don't follow those female teams would try them out of curiosity.

Women's football is not particularly popular. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, but it's just not really viable nor will it affect sales. It's a waste of development time and resources because the sport just doesn't have the fan base or TV figures that make the transfer to a game viable. Until the sport its self gains more popularity, I wouldn't imagine why anyone would think adding it to FIFA is a possibility.
I wouldn't say that. I don't follow women's football that much but I can name quite a few female players, especially German ones. The wide-spread success of the German Women's National Football team and Women Bundesliga clubs on the international stage led to some female players like Birgit Prinz becoming quite famous here. Of course it doesn't compare to men's football but the US is not the only country where Women's Football is quite big.
To be fair, even smaller (men's) leagues and teams have a much larger fanbase than the most popular women's teams. Last year the German Women's Bundesliga had an average attendance of only 1,100 and it's probably one of the most popular leagues in Europe. It's sad but you can't deny these facts.

EA is not a charity or a social progressive organization. So do all of these things would actually cost them extra money to do just like the spokesman said. I have no doubt that EA would do it if they thought it would make them money, I mean this is fucking EA we're talking about. Don't suddenly forget how much they like money simply because they say something against something you want in a game.
It'll cost them money to get the Women's FIFA license, extra dev time to make all of the teams, extra mo-cap time, extra time to research all the teams and get information on the women. All of this extra man power for what? Where's the profit considering Women's Soccer just is not that popular in the countries this game is marketed it? That is a simple fact. Don't like it? Then ask your fellow countrymen and women why they don't watch women's soccer. Don't expect a video games company to waste their resources trying to make something unpopular popular.

This sounds like a good angle for Pro Evolution to include and advertise. Even if the player likeness isn't amazing, this could be a good niche market considering how huge Soccer is worldwide.
While all that is true, average attendance of women's football even in Germany is pretty small. A bit less than twelve-hundred last season for the Frauen-Bundesliga, compared to six thousand for the third Bundesliga in Germany, even some of the fourth leagues have higher average attendance. Then again, they could just start small and see if it pays off.

Well, mostly because you can recycle models and animations with minor custom tweaks to create those additional teams (which is why even modders can add them) while adding female teams would require entire new body models, animations, facial features and so on.
I'm not saying they shouldn't do it (in fact I'm actually all for it, for what I care about football games in general) but the comparison is apples and oranges.
They'd pretty much have to program an additional game. Women's soccer looks VERY different. It's strange, because I never get that feeling when I see a women's basketball or volleyball match. But women's soccer really seems almost like a different type of sport.
Just putting female player models in the regular game wouldn't do the original women's soccer justice at all.

To be fair, i think some 3rd league teams here in Germany have more fans than the womens national team plus i think in Germany 1-3rd league are all included in the Bundesliga license.

I agree, and since it's not something EA is doing, it means that Konami could get all the licenses that they need to properly represent each league and player. It may very well be a market that exists but developers just don't realize it because no one really tries to speak to that market.

I don't know any precise numbers, but you certainly get the feeling that men's lower leagues are more popular than the top echelon of women's football. Obviously, once you also consider that core gaming is still a predominantly male activity, it is no surprise that EA implemented four divisions of English football long before implementing a single female team.
Also, it's worth mentioning that adding a second division to a country in the game has benefits even for those who don't play with the teams in that division, particularly in Career Mode. Even if you're playing with a top division team, having a division (or multiple divisions) below you actually makes the experience more authentic. If you get relegated, you obviously encounter those teams. Each year, some of those teams get promoted. They appear in cup competitions. You can buy and sell to those teams, as well as loan players out to them.
None of these things are true of the women's league. Adding a men's league, be it low league or a foreign league, improves the career mode experience for all. At the beginning at least, women's teams would likely have to be treated like international teams (not really the main event, not included fully in many modes).
I don't think we'll be waiting that long to see women in FIFA, certainly in the next decade, probably in the next five years, but this is certainly a case where their exclusion is for the right reasons. The number of sales gained by adding women's football to the game would be extremely small.

I'm talking about it being on par with the male's football, so with at least the 10 biggest league with at least 3 division, every major national team and cup and mocap for the stars too.
Having female's Football might be a good way to play with only skilled people online since everyone seems to pick the best team or create a new cup where you must represent both the male team and the female team.
