I think it's clear with the PS4's upcoming lineup that it could potentially see a pseudo-PS3 revival and reach like 8-10 million...maybe.

Not specifically you, but I've seen something along these lines thown around some. Whether it's 6-10 million or whatever for LTD PS4:

Do people then think that the PS4 will outsell the Vita in Japan? Because that's what it's kind of sounding like.

My answer is no right now. But maybe new evidence will force me to change my opinion.

While I'm not going to do every game since that's a bit time consuming and they usually get threads or information in the thread anyway, would people still like me to cover the newer mobile games (especially the bigger ones) as they get announced?

I ask since I notice some previews are starting to come out about what people actually showed off in TGS conferences on the mobile front, since most places focused on console game reporting at the actual time.

I might do a slightly different format since I can't read Japanese and some of these are probably better explained in a different format. I can try to do a more informative job with less titles to boot.

I'd rather you didn't, personally. It's too depressing to see something that might look cool, but to know that A) it's probably full of IAP and monetization and/or B) it's probably not gonna get a US release.

just throwing it out there since vita seems to be getting some mobile spinoffs what are the odds of dq1-dq8(ios versions) coming to vita?

As intriguing as a high production value home console DQ XI may sound -- and despite how we all love to interpret any small hint on the matter in that direction -- I'm still firmly convinced it'll be 3DS because it's really the only thing that makes sense in Japan besides mobile.

makes perfect sense since DQXI is definitely on PS4. DQX will also be ported to Vita to get ppl ready for DQXI port after PS4 release.

why do you seem mad? just asking a question. i think people predicting dq11 possibly coming to playstation 4 is rubbing you the wrong way.

Really depends on how much work that has to be done. There might be a collection down the road for some system(s), or a bundle (does DQ1-8 exist for iOS?).

Why the PS4? You mentioned the WiiU earlier :p =)

The biggest game Vita is ever going to get, barring a massive surprise from Capcom or S-E, is a multiplatform God Eater game.

That should tell you everything about the chances of PS4 outselling Vita.

If FF, KH, MGS have a much larger impact on PS4 sales than I currently expect I can see the system selling 6 million units total.

Realistically, especially with it's start showing baseline interest, I don't expect PS4 to get any higher than 4 million units. I don't expect all three consoles combined to get any higher than PS3's total.

If I was going to bet I'd say DQXI is heading to 3DS or PS3. There's not likely to be any viable home console this generation.

Ps4 will definitly outsell vita dut to big IP that are absent on Vita

I can only really see the point of DQ on PS4 if the intent is to try and aim for global markets.

Or I suppose from an artistic standpoint if they simply want to achieve a particular game that requires console hardware.

If it's going to remain a Japanese-centric title it would make far more sense on handhelds, mobile or multiplatform on a combination of the above.

On a tangent... I think we obsess far too much over where DQ will go as if it will be some sort of gamechanger.

#DRIVECLUB is probably the most expensive out of the bunch, but Japan is the least important market for it.

Onechanbara looks like it's made up of stuff from the PS3 game and it's D3. It probably has the lowest budget of the three.

Omega Quintet it is.

Isn't Phantasy Star Nova expected to be much bigger?
Probably not a million seller, but maybe like 700k.

Can someone explain me why Phantasy Star Nova predictions are so low?

God Eater 2 (also available on PSP) sold 400k on Vita, there's no reason why PSN would sell less than that, it should sell a lot more, or at least match 400k.

It doesn't have online multiplayer.

Lack of Hype I guess compared to God Eater which always hailed as Vita savior.

The fact that the game is also announced too early maybe cause the hype for the game diminish.

Plus, if I am not remembering wrong, the demo is not having really a good word to word impression there.

I think GE2 points in comg stores is highter then PSN in the same time frame

Btw, Wii U has no software releasing in October in Japan? I guess there's some HW DLC, but that's it? Seems like they're stuffing Nov/December in comparison.

Probably not a million seller, but maybe like 700k.

No, 400k tops. God Eater and Phantasy Star Portable were very similar sellers on the PSP.

Why are your predicitions so high? God Eater was about the same size on the PSP as Phantasy Star Portable. Besides being called PSN I think hurts it and the Vita has built up a userbase for God Eater type games...while they're somewhat similar, this isn't as much the case as with PSN. Plus the hype just doesn't seem to be there this time around.

God Eater outsold Phantasy Star Portable 2 for example (the last mainline exclusive release for the system in both series)

Since when have that mattered for Japan?

Actually do we know how active the MH4 community is online? This is by far the highest an online MH has sold, with only MH3 Wii preceding it as a mainline online MH game, and that only did about 1.1 million.

The series' popularity was born from it's local multiplayer.

It could. It really depends how much Final Fantasy and KH push the system. Honestly I used to bet against it but the PS4 does have much better sellers lined up than the PSV ever did.

Denpa Men FREE (3DS) has surpassed 1 million downloads: http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/000/935/935799/

Genius Sonority has been doing REALLY nicely despite not being on many Pokemon games these days, then again, Colosseum, XD, and PBR weren't huge hits.

They do really, REALLY need to do something of a grander scale. A new IP again, this time maybe attempting to resurrect that Wii RPG they had cooking in 2008 for Wii U or something.

And to PLEASE get back to making console Pokemon games. With Pokken Tournament far, FAR off in the horizon, and not even confirmed for Wii U yet, we're kinda starving for one.

Rumble U by Ambrella is not exactly much of an appetizer. Luckily those are once per platform so no matter what, we'll get something new I'm sure, and hopefully soon.

Hell, I'd kill for Hey You Pikachu 2 on Wii U, there I said it! Make it happen Ambrella! You've had a built-in mic since the DS, what are you waiting for? :p

Also any idea on how much DLC has affected legs in the past. Has it helped?

Here's an idea, let's try to list what 3rd-party games we know of, at least on Wii U and 3DS since those seem surprisingly (well for 3DS) scarce.

Wii U:

Lego Marvel
...

Yeah

3DS:

PoPoLoCrois Farm Story (no date period, but I'd be really surprised if it was this year)
Devil Survivor 2: Break Record
The Legend of Legacy
Lego Marvel

Not sure of what else from the top of my head.

Would've added Kamen Rider Summonride Wii U, but surprise, it's this year.

gamechanger to what? PS4?

DQ is a bigger franchise than FF in Japan and seeing how much of a system seller FF's have been for Playstation home consoles, I think people are assuming that a DQ PS4 would sell even more PS4's. Sure that may not be out of the question, but only if DQ11 is a PS4 exclusive which is unlikely. Nevertheless the prospect of the DQ series (not just mainline DQ's) being on PS4 will certainly help that ecosystem.

Honestly I see FFXV as being PS4's most important title.

I don't think Phantasy Star Nova is going to sell very well at all. It just doesn't seem to have any hype around it at all.

Sony/SEGA could really do with pushing it a bit harder these last couple of months.

It's still two months out. I'm sure they'll start pushing it before then. It's pretty much the holiday vita game

Pretty cool that Denpa Ningen no RPG Free! managed to get 1m downloads, though Nintendo pushed it via SpotPass, that's understandable. When you think about it, Nintendo should do that for other 3rd-party F2P games, like that Initial D game. I believe they already did it for their own stuff.

Game seems to be doing pretty well, hopefully they'll be able to bring it to the West.
