The Witcher 3 - New screenshots

Also those who think the graphics in screenshot are what you are actually able to play with should go and take a look at the pc screenshot thread. Those are for show and the actual games are almost never playable with those settings at least at the time the game was released.
Don't say "almost never". Any decent multi-GPU setup can provide a decent (30+) framerate even at bullshot quality settings.

Should we really need to do detective work to figure out what settings or platform these screenshots are showcasing? Why not just... tell us?

Man, screenshots sure can work people into a fervor.

PC version will be great and I will probably have to upgrade (again) to max that puppy out. =) CDP has my faith.

Which is why it's concerning. Typically one shows off the best version of the game. This is what they are showing us now so is this what the best version (presumably PC) is going to look like? If so, what are the PS4 and Xbone going to look like. I'm not sure those screens would be very impressive for a next gen console version. Thankfully the art direction is still amazing either way. It would be nice to know what these screens are from also.

Yea, it does. I think if a big enough stink was made that was creating bad press or something, they would make a statement about it.

So far nothing has been said on the Witcher 3 forums as of yet.

Shhh.... let them go at it. It's very fun to watch.

haha- ok ignore what I have said

I just want the game damnit-

Ok, so how many percent of all PC systems are multi-gpu setup? And decent as you said?
Also, decent framerate can be defined differently. As what I can see, most enthusiasts with multiple gpu setup won't accept any lower than 60 fps.
So yeah, almost never is my opinion.

Well, it isn't a screenshot like others, but a capture taken from a video. Of course he didn't clarify that or his narrative wouldn't work as well.

I looked for a capture from the VGX trailer, same part, gamersyde quality:

Then again compared to the 30 minute gameplay gamersyde quality:

These particular screenshots look bad, generally low detail and sub-1080p blur but that doesn't mean that it has been downgraded and it's not representative of how the game will look in motion anyway.
My only hope is that CD Project tries to push the game on all the different platforms it runs on as much as they can.

Wow, I thought Skyrim looked kinda rough on PC at times (with max distance LoD). Jesus christ, last gen went on for way too long.

Skyrim on PS3 can look beautiful as well. It depends on what you're choosing to show, you can make bad screens out of the most beatiful and technically advanced game.

The first screenshot was taken from a trailer, as you say, so a high quality source video and a tiny slice of footage that doesn't necessarily need to run perfectly for a full demo playthrough. It features a time of day that was likely chosen for its more dramatic look. And it also looks downsampled for an ultra-clean IQ.

These things can make a big difference.

While true about being able to make bad screens out of even a beautiful game, Skyrim on last-gen is definitely dated looking. It can look beautiful by last-gen standards, but I think much of it has to do with the immersion, scale and art style rather than technically proficient graphics.

Witcher 2 was overrated graphically, likely due to its timed exclusivity on PC. The sharpening filter and bloom on human textures was hideous in my opinion. Witcher 3 seems like its getting alot of hype for its visuals, even though apart from the compressed gifs nothing actually shown has looked nearly good enough to warrant the hype around the games visuals

I'm just dying for some console footage because I know I won't have a PC that will run this on ultra for a long time.

The Witcher 2 for 360 was a pretty great port right? I trust CD Projekt with handling the console versions well.

Uhhh.... these screenshots are not sub-1080p. If anything, they've been downsampled from a higher resolution. They're perfectly crisp with 0 aliasing (except for that vista shot maybe).

This isn't terribly impressive visually, IMO. Doesn't really look better than TW2 to me, although taking the much vaster environments into account of course makes it more impressive overall.

Not the same place (just the region), not the same time of day, different Geralt hair and armor, and different levels of brightness/contrast.
And let's be honest, the first screenshot looks like they had a sharpen filter and pumped up the contrast to make it "pop out" more.

Pffffffft those graphics are so average.
..if you're blind and cannot feel the scope and breath in everyone of those beauts

That looks.... Kinda bad?

What happened?

Possible scenarios:

1. They accidentally took a bunch of screenshots with the settings on low. Released them anyways.
2. Purposefully took screenshots with settings on low but decided not to tell anyone. Apparently it's a good idea to let people come to their own conclusions? (fyi - no it's not)
3. These areas are just not up to par with the other locations shown so far
4. Downgrade

The screenshots reveal definitely was a mess. First the official twitter account accidentally posts the same pic twice, then a dev comes and posts the real pic.

Disappointing, even if this is on low PC settings or if it's the Xbox One version. That wolf looks mediocre even by LAST gen standards, and no it's not just because of the lack of Hairworks. The branches and twigs in the snow screenshots also look bad.

If this is on low settings then CDPR needs to take better screenshots.

The demo they showed recently already looked like a step down from the Sword of Destiny trailer. While I'm not yet convinced that the game was actually downgraded, I think those folks who are claiming "downgrade" are justified in their concerns.

In the case of TW3, CDProjekt itself elevated the expectations with past trailers and screenshots

I mean, from this:

Is kinda brutal.

Could this be a bigger downgrade than Watch Dogs? Gah damn

Not sure what first page thought is impressive about those shots.
