It's been 4 years, 1 month, and 3 days since Metroid: Other M's release in North America, and while the galaxy may be at peace, the Nintendo Voice Chat podcast isn't done hoping for a new entry in the series. Join host Jose Otero, Brian Altano, and Peer Schneider for a special episode where we deep dive into the Metroid games.

I feel like they forgot that this interview happened at the end when it's about the future:

So it has been a while since we released the last one and we're having discussions internally about what we can do next. So at this point we have two different types of Metroid games. We have the Prime style of Metroid game and we have the more traditional style of Metroid game. We feel that we do need to take care of both of these styles of play. And the hope is that at some point in the near future we'll be able to share something about them.

I appreciated that they didn't trash Other M too much for the lulz and kept it civil.

No I've seen that already. I get they are thinking about where to take the series and try and work on both styles.

Still doesn't mean it is a high priority for Nintendo.

Well sure, it never was in that sense. But as usual, when they say "we're thinking about," it usually means "we're already working on it" ^^

This was a great episode. I really loved hearing Peer talk about Nintendo freaking out over IGN revealing that Prime was a first-person shooter.

And it's nice to hear them say that today's Retro is not the same as the one that made the Prime series. Retro will never make another Prime, as far as I'm concerned.
