lnd why then are all multiplat games constant worse then on the rivals console ? Listening to users ? Like the shitstorm over DRM and the backpaddling is now a plus in MS books ?

I'm not impressed with the exclusive list either. Shooters and Forza is all I see. Not very rich in variety

yeah right ,let's forget about: D4, Project Spark, Dance Central, Ori KI Season 2, among others

Why so aggressive? And listening to users, hmmm, maybe they were referring to their feedback site, where you can bring up issues and vote for things others have brought up.

The focus on numbers is crazy! It's like the marketing department just went "we need numbers, numbers, numbers!"

The only numbers they cant brag about are the ones that matter. Sony goes "10 million ps4s sold" MS goes " 400K steering wheels turned in forza 5 and 100 million zombies killed"

Wait.

I have no stake in Halo, but the Master Chief Collection includes a "percentage" of the MP maps from each game?

What the rolling fuck is that about? Firstly, list the number of maps. Besides being filthy with marketing technique a percentage figure is meaningless unless you're a died in the wool Halo fanatic willing to do math in your head. Secondly if you're doing the work to optimise the engines, why not include all the maps?

I was under the impression if you bought the Master Chief Collection you were getting the complete experience of all 4 mainline games, apparently not.

I don't know why but that bums me out.

Sunset Overdrive continues to look awesome in the dumbest possible way.

Dunno, maybe i'm still mad that gamers forgot what MS tried to pull off last year. But that's my problem and has nothing to do with this thread. My apologize

The percentages are of the amount of maps that particular game adds to the total map counts. You are getting every map. And since there are 100+ maps, they aren't going to list every map. It's not some dirty MS trick like your spinning it to be.

List is very neat. Halo:MCC, Sunset Overdrive and FH2 are awesome looking. The fairly botched launch of DriveClub has left me thirsty for some racing, so FH2 oddly enough is the standout there.

Still, can't justify owning another system based on three games. Also, all of my friends have moved to PS4 or PC, so I dunno what I'll do playing solo on the console. Still, I'm waiting to see what Scalebound really is, and that might end up tipping my hand.

I just bought an Xbox One just for FH2. Let's not kid ourselves here.

Out of those four games, one is a remake of a shooter(s) that everyone has already played to death and whose formula has run stale a long time ago, another looks promising but is made by a developer whose track record was utterly shit last gen and finally, we have a multiplayer-only game that can be bought for cheaper on the PC and whose community has long ago dwindled into insignificance.

I have had the PS4 for two months now but only just unboxed it because there were no games to play for it. It was a gift. I was hoping Destiny would be something but it wasn't. I only took it out because I was setting up my TV rack for the X1 and I thought it'd be convenient to do it at the same time. Given that the best game for it is a rehash from last gen (TLoU) and the only game I am looking forward to playing on it is also a rehash from last gen (GTAV), this gen has been absolutely dire in terms of quality games thus far.

It's such a state of affairs for the industry.

That's a compelling website. I wish I could get my hands on the Master Chief Collection. Was a fan of Halo 1+2 back in the day.

Anyway, #4ThePlayers (isn't that it) vs #WhyIGame, which hashtag is better? These are the important questions this generation.

I'm not gonna lie. Sunset overdrive looks fucking balls to the wall fun.

I think it looks like a lot of fun as well. A lot more fun than Bloodborne. I don't mean in terms of gameplay (I have played neither) but I find the way the colors pop out with that over saturation really nice in Sunset Overdrive. It looks like a game that could be fun to play for many many many hours.

Still I think Microsoft needs to have more than this. There needs to be at least 3 more upcoming new franchised stellar looking next gen looking exclusives that are not coming to PC, before I will have to choke on my own cardboard and go out and buy one.

Nothing for me to spend money for a new console on (yet), but Killer Instinct, Dead Rising 3, and Project Spark interest me.

It's the same with the PS4, and how it doesn't have enough that I want to shell out money on a new console at the moment.

Both will get interesting, but after Microsoft burned me with the RRoD on the 360, I'd probably go with a PS4. (Plus I prefer Sony's IPs.)

Oh well, I'll end up playing it friends houses tho.

Such a stellar lineup of AAA exclusives. 2014 truly belongs to the ONE.

Also why so much fuss over the definition of an "exclusive". For all intents and purposes if a game cannot be played on the rival consoles (PS4 and WiiU) it IS an exclusive. And this goes for games which are available on 360 as well (Titanfall and FH2). Anyone who has played both the versions can attest to the fact that the 360 versions are NOT the same games at all.

Nothing wrong with pimping out their console. This is the same shit as 4theplayers thing.
As an owner of both consoles, I still think they have the best exclusives as of now. Might change as of next year depending on how good are Bloodborne and The Order to me.

lets also not forget a lot of so called xbox Exclusives end up on PC eventually.

ryse son of rome, dead rising 3

and last gen almost every timed exclusive including bioshock and Mass effect made their way to pc and ps3 eventually. so really with MSs track record I don't see a reason to buy their console for anything other than budget price.

I've put all the games available on Xbox and Playstation that I'm interested in in a sorted list based on my preference. While it is true that the Xbox exclusives average better than the Playstation ones, they both fall short of the cross platform games.

For example, while I would like to play Sunset Overdrive more than I'd want to play DriveClub, I'd still prefer to play Shadow of Mordor, GTA V, Dragon Age Inquisition, and Far Cry 4 over either two. Those exclusive games are about equal with my interest in Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Evolve, and The Witcher Wild Hunt. Not being able to play an exclusive is really not a big deal. It'd have been a toss up if I played them anyway. If Destiny hadn't turned out to be such a dud this effect would have been even more pronounced.

TL;DR; Doesn't matter because cross platform games are now more dominant than exclusives.

Why should that matter though? People keep rehashing in so many threads on how they're getting the ps4 version when there's a better pc version but they still buy the console for various other reasons (and some quite valid) so why wouldn't it be the same case here?

Stuff like "MS exclusive" is just made up to fluff up lists. Exclusive means you can't get it anywhere else. Drivclub is exclusive, LBP3 is not. SO is exclusive, TF, Halo collection, and FH2 are all not (they can all be played in one way or another on different platforms). Admittedly, the case could be made for the MCC, but I still wouldn't count remasted games as exclusives (this includes stuff like TLOU. Or at least, if we are going to count them, then we should also count PS4/PS3/PC only games like FFXIV and a multitude of indie titles as "exclusive" (but then you see how using that term doesn't make sense).

"But PC is a Microsoft platform!" That way you can erase names from the adversary while keeping yours. List wars at its finest.

As for the line-up on both platforms, why would a new buyer just look what's available this holiday, instead of the past year and the next one? Making a purchase decision on just few holiday titles would be incredibly shortsighted.

I believe because it's likely that either those games, or sequels to those games, will appear on the PS4 if Microsoft doesn't own the IP. It'll be extremely hard for developers to perpetually ignore the larger PS4 install base for marketing deals from Microsoft. After all they need exposure to the PS4 install base in order to win over fans for their other games.

This is smart marketing, especially with Sony WW Studios having such a mediocre to borderline weak start this generation. Quite a turn from the early "TVTVTV" days...

Wait a minute! Dragon Age Inquisition gets DLC first on XBOX!!!
Cedric-Daniels.gif

You are reading that wrong. It just highlights it as a MP title. Look at things like BF4 and COD it has the same thing. They are not highlighting one month exclusive type deals on actual exclusive DLC/titles.

OT - Nice infograph a bit of a pain to navigate. They sure are pushing MP a lot understandable.

How can you compare Bloodborne to Sunset Overdrive? Both look in their own right. But both are no where near the same.

It's exacty the opposite for me. The last gen, about half of the games I owned were exclusives. Things haven't changed, looking at my PS4 games; four exclusives out of eight retail titles I've bought so far, and six exclusives out of seven smaller digital titles I've played so far (including PS+ titles).

This is an industry analysis forum no? This is just a look at marketing strategy and it also shows quite well how there´s been a shift in Xbox strategy. You can find similar threads on Sony and Nintendo marketing here all the time too.

If you enjoy the games/OS+apps experience, go for it :) This early in the generation consoles are easy to sell for a pretty good price too. That´s why I buy every console when they are launched. I was supposed to go PS4 only this generation for reasons I´m sure you can guess, but after enjoying the PS4 during the launch period I bought a XB1 as an impulse buy and to my surprise found out that I prefer it especially due to the controller/first party lineout/OS experience. You can build a philosophical case against buying any console in the end.

Fair enough - I did interpret some additional meaning to this thread OP, but the actual discussion here has mostly evolved around marketing.

Since I only use my Xbox platforms for exclusives, there's not much for me in there. However, D4 should totally be on there if it isn't! The game oozes with style and charm from the looks of it, they really, really should be boasting about it more!

Having said that, the Xbox One exclusives I'm looking forward to are Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, Massive Chalice, Ori & the Blind Forest, Scalebound, White Night and most importantly D4 :D

Do you mean Sunset Overdrive? That looks pretty awesome. The comedy does seem very silly in it, but the gameplay seems really cool :D

As someone who owns both consoles. Hands down the xbox one is the best place to play this year. Great exclusives and great third party support. If you want better running third party games stick with the ps4. If you want the best arrangement of games in multiple genres there is no doubt that MS has killed it in the consoles first year.

- a shooter for teenagers
You mean, SO looks like an action-platform-shooter with a sense of humor. Teenagers are too busy following orders, practicing murdering each other and committing crimes in GTA and CoD for later life. They don't want a sense of humor 'cause they're too cool for that and that colorful shit isn't edgy and adult enough for them.

As for people complaining about the topic being a shill/marketing thread...well, welcome to every fucking thing on any enthusiast message board for commercial products where we celebrate consumerism and a blind loyalty to brands by bashing each other over the head textually and with image macros and video demonstrations usually lovingly edited and encoded from official marketing materials. And we repeat it over and over again for no real benefit for ourselves except that we love that shit.
