I loved it but was disappointed with how limiting the skill system is, something I hope is different in II. You have all these skills and, by the end of the game, enough points to maybe master one of them at the expense of everything else. I know part of the reason I enjoyed it so much is simply due to how rarely we get first-person dungeon crawlers, so I'm incredibly biased and willing to overlook its flaws. Legend of Grimrock II will also have outdoor areas and more varied environments, a la Might and Magic X, so I'm hyped.

This skill system was revamped as described here
It's a more standard one point per level immediate skill buy versus the allotting points down a skill line like the first one. I kinda liked the way the first one is so I'm less enthused for this one, but I understand why and don't hate it. Change is good.

So it looks like my Steam folder just completely dumped my "Common" folder with all of my game downloads/data in it.

Luckily I have a restore point on the folder from last night, but I'll probably have to manually copy every thing over, which will double the amount of space being used (due to the backup existing in the restore point). Any ideas on what could have caused this? I just don't want it to happen again...

EDIT: Problem Solved. My Common folder mysteriously was hiding out in "SourceMods". No idea. Crisis averted!

Legend of Grimrock 2 store page is updated and is ready for pre-purchase.

Holy shitballs, I am so hype for this. Can't believe it's almost out.
I can't wait either. My true love is Rebirth but I can do 2 weeks of Grimrock 2 love before that.

Someone should make an OT so we have some place to discuss finding secrets and stuff.

Yeah, the skill tree actually did kind of suck... I ended up mastering none of the skills because I wanted to test the waters and see what different skills would do. I also found it a little obnoxious that you pretty much have to choose what weapon your guy will focus on from level 1 and pump that skill, but you have no idea what weapon category will end up being the best. There was a sword far better than any axe or mace in Grimrock 1, so I just considered myself lucky that I focused on sword. Would've been pissed if I had specced for axes...

wait.. you get drunk when you play CSGO?

8 years ago or so a mate and I made up a drinking game with the help of the GunGame mod for CS:S (if you don't level up in a round, take a shot; if the other person wins the map, take a shot; and about a dozen other rules, some of which involve taking two shots instead of one). We'd planned on moving to GO once it released, but I only recently discovered that somebody finally released a customisable version of GunGame for it and we still have about a dozen or so CS:S GG maps to work through.

I almost exclusively play CSGO drunk. I have clocked 100 hours to it right now. I am 3 star guy at the moment.

edit: Goddammit, I won Darksiders 2 but apparently I own it already?? No idea when I have gotten it, I am sure I haven't gotten it from any of the recent bundles. Can I somehow unlink the gift so it can be regifted?

Why does the rest of Asia get lumped together with Japan? I don't want to hear Japanese.

unless you speak Japanese you might as well just mute the game when people are talking, or turn down the voice volume in the options.
I dunno, people watch italian opera and enjoy it much more than they would a lousy dub by noname actor. Most of them don't understand italian obviously.

Just send the gift to your own e-mail address and use the redemption URL with ModBot. You can chop off the ?redeemer portion so you're not sharing your e-mail address.

Ryse was region-locked earlier:

I was initially bummed about the lack of a pre-load, but between Styx and my CS drinking game, it doesn't really matter.

Edit: Oh, wait, silly me -- that's the post-release sub (although it was region-free). Serves me right for not checking the info tab first. ;) So, yeah, buy Ryse now if you want it on the cheap, otherwise you'll be waiting for 50% off.

50% off €39.99 is still more expensive than buying from a trader >.<

Now you made me want to get this game. How is it anyway, is it any good?
Looks like you'll get soundtrack if you pre-order it

Probably not, but I'm in the mood for a "dumb" action game, although I've historically sucked at juggling two games at the same time so I may wait until I'm done with Styx.

why are you comparing vocals in music to dialogue in a video game?
How about comparing a video game full of cinematics to, well, cinema? People generally don't question the desire to watch movies in their native version with subtitles, yet the same happens almost every single time this desire is voiced for games.

It always annoys me.

So GMG just gave me a 27% discount coupon for the Mordor Season Pass dropping it to $19ish.
I want that ish for $5 or bust, appreciate the offer GMG, but no thanks.

I'm thinking about picking up Styx, is it region free?

Jase apparently got it from a trader, but far as I know it is region locked.

I didn't think the season pass was worth it to be honest. I got it for $8.

Most of it is just challenges.

I watch all media in their native language, so naturally I do the same for videogames.

I think the only exception is The Witcher 1&2, because I played them in both italian and english, but never in the original polish. I'll have to remedy that someday.

Well just under a day until FFXIII finishes downloading :(

I bet Adam Orth is mocking me somewhere.

Anyway speaking of FFXIII-2 and the Costume DLC there one that might even tempt Jase to actually play the game.

Though he might get confused when you don't end up collecting stuff whilst you're running around.

Technically FF13-2 has collectibles.
Technically speaking.

Well, it's because games really only come in two languages; english and japanese. There are a few games made with native polish dialogue and such, but they're pretty rare. The fact that it's japanese specifically attracts a certain crowd we all know and hate, which means that the other crowd resents that and tries to distance itself from it by not expressing the same desires or even expressing the exact opposite desire.

Basically, no one wants to be mistaken for a weeaboo, so people are more sensitive about it when it comes to games. Watching movies in their native french doesn't carry the same risk of being pegged as someone who carries around a waifu dakimakura, so it's safer for people to admit.

So what you are saying is, people are childish.

I know. Doesn't make it less annoying though.

(Also, there are quite a few PC RPGs with native German dialogue)

Dude, there's loads of French games, where English VA is generally treated exactly like a PC version for Ubisoft games.

Remember Me sounded better in French than English. Just a right pain in the arse that the subtitles were so small they were impossible to read unless running at a lower resolution. That was a silly idea having them scale with resolution.

Well I turn 24 today.

Yep.

Happy B'day.

Is it me, or does the store now show user tags for titles in the Top Sellers/New/Upcoming tabs?

I'm pretty sure Linear tag for FFXIII wasn't made by Squeenix...

Perhaps they read the recent GAF discussion on how "open world" shouldn't be a positive and also concluded that "linear" shouldn't be a negative ;)

The ROW/"NE" version has dual audio now, hence the massive difference.
So from these sizes we can conclude that the game has 22 GB of videos and audio per voice and around 5 GB of all other game data.

Edit: sorry for the double post, never expected the Steam thread to be so "slow"!

This is good news for all people with smallish SSDs (like my 60GB one) - you can keep the videos on HDD, and just move the actual game data to SSD for faster loading.

Well, I just found out about this:

Surely the Japanese language track is a mistake... right?
Bummer, I hoped text would be japanese as well. Well at least there's the audio.

Well I turn 24 today.

Yep.
Happy birthday!

I won't finish downloading FFXIII until 11pm tonight. Assuming I keep my PC on all day.

God I'm afraid my PC might overheat or something
