Garo 01

This show sort of reminded me of G-Reco, and I think I know why. Just like G-Reco, this show feels like its a throwback to shows from the 80s and 90s. I did some research and found out this was actually an adaptation of a Tokusatsu show, which explains why the show has the throwback feel. While the action is smooth and kinetic, I am completely taken away by the completely obvious use of CG, and that's a major turnoff for me. I'll stick with it for now, but if the CG becomes even more grating I'll eventually drop it.

Why is there an OT for everything now?

Because anime is popular. Or more than before?

You see, there is this thread, a general anime thread, because anime isn't important and popular enough to support one thread per anime title, which would be the normal thing. For example, you don't have general "movies OT" threads, neogaf have different threads for different movies, as people want to discuss them.
But with anime, lots of threads would barely a few posts per week int that way, so it isn't considered worth it. That's why it's all reunited under a general thread. But each season, there are a few quality or popular animes that we believe they will be talked enough to support a thread by themselves.

OP is by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas? And a dubstep? Hell yeah!! I'm in!!!!

Interesting premises and I'm surprised it's a manga that ended 20 years ago, I like how Madhouse updated the look for today's standards. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.

Cool thanks for the condensending tone. Was just curious why we're needing stuff for things like Amagi, shirobako, and the like as there was no hype or anything. 80% of the posts on those OTs are just anime gaffers copy and pasting their impressions from this thread.

I didn't try to be condescending, I honestly thought some people wouldn't thought on it.

Code Geass 06

Not again.

Ugh...

Yeah I'm dropping this. Or at least putting it on hold. This is just offensive.
You're dropping this when the rollercoaster has barely gained speed.

Shiki 1-17

This show really makes your frustrated at how dumb the characters are. I don't think I've ever felt so frustrated at a show.
Well everyone in shiki is extra stupid. Everyone needs a giant slap , except like 2 characters in the show that did nothing wrong.
chaika avenging battle - 01

It's too bad that Chaika didn't have the experience to level up quick-cast. Toru and Akari did a good job handling the adds, although they had to pop all their cooldowns to do so, but Chaika got smashed pretty hard by the boss. With such long cast times, it's a wonder she hasn't been interrupted and locked down so hard before.

Toru was offered a class change afterward by Fredrica, but he's holding onto Saboteur for now. Probably has some high level talents he wants to snag before multiclassing into cavalier.

Not much else of note - Vivi's now an Assassin/Chaika, and she's put some points into longswords to better handle the loot that dropped off Gillette. And Soviet Chaika is coming.
I guess that was because the 2 saboteurs + dragons were there.
I guess chaika just meet a better markswoman/marksman than herself.

Gundam SEED Destiny 1
A year and half after the battle of orb, and a neighboring country is using Orbs leaked information for their own reasons. And of course, someone hijacks their Gundams. Looks like we have a new male lead this time as well which is weird since Cagalli and Athrun are there (although that makes sense she's the leader of Orb).

YEEES SOMEONE is watching destiny ..

i'm really looking forward to those impressions.

Saint Seiya Legend of Sanctuary (CG movie)

I went in with pretty low expectations, and the film still failed to meet them. Out of all the possible things you could do with Saint Seiya as a new stand alone film, reimagining the entire Sanctuary arc in a 90 minute movie probably isn't the best idea. The result is a fast paced but ultimately empty film devoid of character development or any real emotional impact or satisfaction.

There are things the film does pretty well. Grounding the core of the story in a modern world made the introductory parts of the movie more interesting than a typical adaptation would have. The CG work is actually pretty good here too, with really lively character animation and lots of facial animation detail. It added a lot to the humorous tone and made everyone look really expressive. Some of the comedy really works too, including a crazy random scene when Cancer Deathmask is introduced in a song and dance number.

Unfortunately that's about where the good stuff ends. The majority of the movie feels extremely rushed at the expense of any sort of actual characterization. Nothing about the world, the characters, or their motivations is really explored in a meaningful way. The entire crux of the conflict itself boils down to an event which the audience never sees, and is never really detailed, only referred to in passing towards the end of the film. Instead, much of the runtime is spent on extravagant but soulless action sequences which would not be out of place in a Transformers film. Many of the fights are also effectively pointless because they simply exist as physical spars to showcase a test of strength - the most boring sort of fights. The opening and climatic battles in the film would not be out of place as cutscenes in a Final Fantasy game, for better or for worse. The soundtrack is extremely fitting for the sort of film it tries to be, but that also makes it as forgettable as everything else.

Would not recommend to anyone looking for a good film. Might recommend to die-hard Saint Seiya fans who must watch everything in the franchise.

P.S. Saori's VA was fucking awful. AWFUL. BAD. TERRIBLE. :(

Log Horizon 7

Well, I've seen enough episodes now to be able to say I really dig this show
and that the OP song is trbl. ED song is meh
. This is not really exclusive to this episode, but I really like how the mechanics and ways of the world are explained each episode. And Shiroe is a gotdamn boss. Homie's got plans and strategies for days.

Aikatsu! 103

Both of Yurika's Loli Gothic songs have been my favorite songs in the series, and now that Sumire's taken up the mantle, her first solo song is pretty great. This was really more about Sumire than it was Akari, since her having a day as Ichigo's manager did serve as a nice callback to when Ichigo and Mizuki did the same thing, but by this point their relationship is pretty well established. Sumire's belief is more along the lines of astrology than it is tarot, which I suppose ties into the zodiac motif from the previous season. While this year is tairy tales, like Sumire channeling her inner Princess Kraehe.

Hinaki, from the preview, has my interest, and she uses Mikuru's brand. I think they intentionally chose these three brands to play to fans of the most popular characters. To which I say - keep doing it, it's working.

Please tell me there is a Lost Canvas S3 announcement at the end.

Urgh I've completely forgotten how they butchered Gold Saint designs. Shaka :(

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru 4-6

Teacher is the best. Narrator is good. That tanuki (?) and his interruptions can go to hell though.
I've completely forgotten that the porn deleting scene was from this. Still great.

ED is lovely, got it on repeat, that akardeon.

Not too much I can add to this chorus of praise beyond echoing it. This story wouldn't work without being well-animated, so it's great to see Madhouse bringing these unsettling aliens to life.

since it's an adaptation of Tomihiko Morimi's novel, I'm interested in The Eccentric Family.
did anyone watch it and is it good?

Rage of Bahamut: Genesis - 1

Randomly decided to watch it, and found it really good. Afro-MC seems like a cool dude, and the animation was really nice too (Really loved that fight near the end of the episode). Hopefully this keeps up in future episodes.

The Kimiuso OP is looking pretty great. The official twitter account has been teasing screens from it. It's directed and storyboarded by Ryosuke Nakamura. <3

*frothing demand intensifies*

I'd love him to work on another full show or film again, but I'll take what I can get. Thanks for the heads-up - looking forward to watching it later.

Denki-Gai 02

Wouldn't be an Akiba show without Momoi making an appearance to liven up the festivities. Thursday is the most relaxing day of the week this season, and having the two shows about anime culture start it off couldn't be better. There was a lot more dong going on in this episode than I expected. The midnight release for the light novel made me realize that for every Harry Potter, Japan has people who will do that for everything. (The Devil is an Idol, let me know when that one is animated. I'd watch it.) I think Fuga is pretty much the anime version of Tina Belcher, going off this one episode.

Shirobako 01

Based Mizushima Tsutomu, only take him 24 mins to save PA Works.

Btw being anime staff is suffering.
And this shows have bunch of anime industry, like is that Production IG lol?

Subete no aware
Ah,okay. Yeah, I was referring to the prince. That actually reminds me now of the guy whose name is something like "wise-el" but they pronounce it more like weasel. Just combined somewhat with his demeanor and I guess they want you to originally think he's an antagonist. I think the film maybe forgot about him for a bit though? I personally actually don't recall, haha.
Oh yeah, I forgot where that joke was from, but I've heard it before. It's one of those clever British wordplay jokes that would not go over in America. lol

There's a game I'll be playing during this show - "How many of these shows within a show would I like to watch?". The reference to G-コレ suggests that it's taking place in something more or less analogous to our world, but unlike our world, there's a magical idol show on the air. Exodus is something I'm looking forward to in this layer of reality one level down, because of course I am.

Funny how the two shows most in tune with anime culture are also workplace comedies. (Though this one is more of a dramadey.) The beginning in school was nice, and I can't wait for the girls to reunite. Aoi is pretty good, and the two I want to follow the closest come from the areas of anime that I care the most about. Writing and voice acting. Having next episode sit in on a recording session sounds great. In some ways, it's like REC, and though I haven't seen Animation Runner Kuromi, I know that also covered this side of the industry, while Love Getchu was concentrated on the voice actors.

This isn't really new ground, per se, but the show still feels like its own thing. Exodus to tomorrow! I like what I see and hope that I have more shows in this reality to look at.
