Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Anyone know how transferring data works between the PS TV and the PS3? I want to start Chrono Trigger on the PS3 and transfer the data to the PS TV.

Why the hell would some PSP games not work? Makes no sense?

SCEA probably wrote some contracts that limited use to actual PSP systems or something equally dumb. Vita's PSP/PSone situation isn't that much better either, but few games are fully locked out (RIP Crash + Spyro).

I'm considering one since memories of celceta and P4 Golden work. Now just need to pray that they patch MGS Collection and Wipeout

Did we get any word if Sword Art Online will work yet? I believe I remember hearing for the Vita TV it works, but would probably need a US patch.

Ys and SAO don't work currently. Ys needs a patch for the game to be issued, not sure if that is the case with SAO.

Also regarding Lumines, I had a look through the JP compatibility list and it does work hence why James Mielke stated so. Menus can only be navigated with touch and you need to touch the screen to use special powers so I have to wonder if they either patched the game, or Sony just whitelisted it due to Dualshock 4 controllers being able to play fine.

If Wipeout was supported, that would be enough to push me over the edge to pick this up. Probably the Vita game that would most benefit from playing on a bigger screen with a controller. As it stands, I'm on the fence. Need to try my remote play from the location I'd place the PSTV to see how well it works at that distance. Given the spotty Vita compatibility, that would be the reason to get it.

I'll be getting this and Senran Kagura on Tuesday, but SK won't be ready to work on launch >_< Well, at least it'll come.

I hope they patch it; Neptunia Re;Birth is my current Vita game of choice and I was pretty disappointed that I would not be able to play it on TV.

Don't quote me on this but I saw someone on another forum mention it not being planned to be patched. There was no email image or anything though so I dunno how legit it was.
But if you're really concerned you should contact IFI. They answer within the day and are super quick about it.

I have a peculiarity question and I'll go ahead and guess the answer is no but please prove me wrong. Back in April, I downloaded CTR and other forbidden PS1 games to my 32 gig card. I want to copy those games to an 8 gig card for use on the PSTV. Can I?

This is a crushing blow. I wonder if they'd go back and make patches for any PSP games? Seems kinda unlikely

I don't believe there's a technical reason why any PSP can't run on it, it should just be a matter of adding it to the whitelist. Whether that'll ever happen...

All I got for the Vernal Equinox was this stupid tag

The PSP games I did the same with did not work, but I don't have PS1 games like this to test.

Thanks; I sent them an inquiry. Makes no sense that it doesn't work, especially since the Japanese version does.

So I must have gone insane, because TxK and Jet Set Radio both work without a patch. Spelunky also works.

No patch up yet for Borderlands 2.

I tried the game using a PS3 controller, so I'm not sure if anything changes with the PS4 controller and its touch pad, but the controls have been fully modified to work with the PS3 controller, so you can use L2/R2, click the analog stick to run, and melee kills are handled by moving both analog sticks in the same directions that the arrows point in. The controls are great.

Killzone Mercenary looks really good blown-up to 720P. It's nice having the good Killzone game finally playable on TV!

I knew it was coming but I hadn't heard about the KZ patch being released, I'll have to check it out in my Vita. Anyone know how the other features work like the hacking and touch screen vanguards? e.g porcupine missiles

Picking it up mostly for the ps4 remote play, and to stream NHL GCL since my TV doesn't natively support the app.

A little surprised the ethernet is NOT gigabit, but it's evidently still the best option since the wifi is only 1x1 which will net less than 100Mb anyway. I already have ethernet running into the room this is going to.

Both Killzone Mercenary and Sly Thieves In Time get new control mappings that use the dual shock R2/L2 buttons and analog stick click functions.

The Vita NHL GCL app hasn't been updated for the 2014-2015 season yet. It's being promoted on the store page, so maybe an update will go live soon?

Amazon has shipped my order! Can't wait to play Persona 4 (along with other titles) on the big screen.

I was charged not too long ago. Now I wait for Tuesday.

Well, already have on a 32GB card:
-Killzone Mercenary
-Sly Cooper Thieves in Time
-Soul Sacrifice Delta
10GB just those 3 with all current patches.

A cart with UMvC3.
Now, to continue looking around the list to see if there's anything else I'd prefer to play on a bigger screen and with a DS4. I also have a Vita (OLED) as my main Vita with a 64GB card along Tearaway and a few others. And a Vita (LCD) with a 8GB card mostly as a remote play device my TV is LCD, so the colors of remote play are closer to the TV).

The PTV will be more of an additional console, sonce I also have a PSPGo with a DS3 to play PSP games with it on my TV. Though the PSP games in here are full screen (the PlayStation 3D TV has a PSP Zoom mode, which is nice but have to change it back to Full when I quit a game).

It also acts as a second PlayStation 4 in another room of your home for only $100. Granted you can't use both at the same time, but for that alone I may pick one up eventually.

I'll be excited to be able to play Diablo 3 in the living room and the wife can just join right in from the bedroom after she is done watching her shows or whatever. Not to mention being able to use the DS4 to play all those beautiful PSP/PS1 games. And my 30 or so Vita games. I plan to buy one at launch and then 3 more for my kids at Xmas. Basically upgrading their TV's into Smart TV's plus video gaming goodness. And with Minecraft coming I don't see them doing much else this holiday season.

PAULINK

I microwave steaks.
Can't wait to pick this up during the midnight launch. Really considering getting another 64 gig card for the convenience of not having to turn off one of my vitas to switch cards though. But when I think about it, my collection is mostly physical, I don't really need a huge card besides for patches.

Noooo!!!!! The Sly Cooper Collection is not on the compatibility list. I thought it would be considering Thieves in Time is. I just ordered it from Best Buy a few minutes ago since they have it on sale for $9.99.

I'm only getting one if it ships with lower than firmware 3.30. That way I can transfer the exploited games from my Vita, and play any PSP or PS1 game hassle free.

Otherwise I'll import one to guarantee a lower firmware.

I'm super excited to finally be able to play Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions on a large screen. Hopefully the casting slowdown isn't as huge an issue

-Tried both my Japanese and American accounts. Account switching is easier than on the Vita since the stupid introduction video does not play, so the process goes quicker.

Thanks for the great info :)

Can you clarify for me, I'm tempted to get a UK one when it's released so the kids can play PS4 upstairs either to finfish the game they are currently playing or just play games in general.

So, as it stands we have around 5 accounts on the PS4. I'm finding the VIta is a pain as only I can log into the PS4 (we then use a DS4 to switch accounts which is far from ideal, but at least it works).

Will the Vita TV work for me? You meantion switching accounts is easier - what's the procedure? Can we just log on as whoever is playing easily?

Thanks in advance :)

Well amazon charged me, though my order status still says "pre-order"

Hopefully it actually gets here tomorrow like they say it will. Pretty sure I had this same experience with the PS4 where I didn't even have a tracking number until launch day.

Yeah I've run the update now, was hoping there would be some sign of the new functions in the handheld mode but there's no sign of it. Even still makes you touch the screen to start!

Wait Borderlands isn't supported? And Celceta isn't..? Thinking about getting one for Xmas but if half my games don't work it's pretty pointless.

I heard sometimes if you are close, they do not ship it until the night before. In my experience, it always took 2 days to fully ship something to my location. I am glad I got a shipping notice because that means it is street date shipping. If you do not get any notice tonight, then you may want to contact them to see what is up.

Didn't the Vita TV get a firmware update in Japan on launch day which added a whole buncha games to the white list? If so, maybe that'll happen with this release as well.

I updated the firmware on my imported Vita TV last night and I can finally log in to my US account. Downloaded my cloud save for P4G and now I'm ready for a run through on new game plus. Now all I need to do is find some time to play it.

Can i use my digital Vita games on it?

Also, is the PS4 streaming limited to 30fps, like on Vita?

I am very tempted to buy it even if only for the PS4 streaming and Netflix, so i can finally retire my PS3.

The way I look at it is if they don't meet the "Guaranteed delivery by: Tuesday, October 14, 2014 by 8pm", then I'll probably get the shipping costs refunded.

It would have to be UPS or FedEx next day at this point, as USPS is closed today.

Lyte, can you confirm that you can party chat while in remote play for the Vita TV? The Blog said it works, but I have my doubts. On the Vita, when you join remote play, the party app quits.

Do we have a list of media streaming apps available yet?

Wouldn't mind picking one of these up, but if it's not got at least the BBC iPlayer I might just look into an Amazon Fire TV box instead.

Im sure it has been answered before but i have 2 vitas already and the vita tv on its way. Will i have to deactivate one of my vitas or does it count as a separate device?

When PS Vita TV launched in Japan, SCE updated the activation limit to 3 portable devices.

SCE hasn't shared a list of compatible media apps yet.

Vita doesn't currently have BBC iPlayer. That might change in the future with PSTV being a thing or things might stay the same.

Assuming they're compatible with PSTV's controls, you can use your previously purchased digital Vita games on it.

I believe it is capped at 30.
