Mega Steelix is Steel/Ground and has the ability Sand Force.
Mega Glalie is pure Ice and has the ability Refrigerate.

People called Romanes they go the house?
Damn, we're getting a lot of megas.

Hyped for Glalie, if and only if it raises the chance of getting Mega-Froslass.

Seeing as Steelix is like a top 5 pokemon for me I feel I should be more excited by this, instead I find myself kinda indifferent right now.
Maybe I need to see this design in motion.

Nice beard Glalie is rocking there.

Glalie is now Gengar.

Someone needs to make the famous "YOU GET A CAR" Oprah moment into "YOU GET A MEGA AND YOU GET A MEGA"

For someone who hasn't played a Pokemon game since Red, can someone give a quick run down on mega pokemon?

They're really going to need to change how Megas work if this keeps up. 1 per team and 90% of the stones being post game (at least in XY) means most of these are basically nonexistent in normal play.

Steelix: Awesome

Glalie: Derp

Basically.

Kinda glad I got out of Pokemon when I did. Megas are just (IMO) crazy stupid and lazy design.

Then again I think they should've stopped designing new Pokemon a gen or two back and just refined the game mechanics.

A bit late, actually. Pics were already posted there: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=912086
You should've put a ring on it AKA put it in the title.

Mega Pokemon are like SUPER EVOLUTIONS and are interesting because you can further enhance fully evolved Pokemon. Their stats can go up, and they can get new abilities. They are not always definitively better than their non-mega counterpart, it depends on how you want to use them. You can only use one Mega Pokemon per battle, so no you can't just have an entire team of Mega Pokemon (well you could, but only one could transform each battle). They give a needed boost to some forgotten Pokemon or allow popular Pokemon to be used in different ways.

Onyx (rock) > Steelix (Steel) > Mega Steelix (Steel/Diamond?)

So basically their bodies are made of harder material each time they evolve.

Holy crap, Mega Steelix looks amazing. He was already one of my top 3 favorite Pokemon ever and now he's all the more awesome. Has his type been confirmed? Those crystals make me think he's either Steel/Fairy or Steel/Ice, either of which would be awesome.

Mega Glalie on the other hand.... eh. He just looks absolutely horrifying if you ask me. I'll stick to Frosslass thank you.

All it takes is a look at Steelix' stat spread to see why he needs an upgrade. That, and he's a classic Pokemon that could use some dusting off.

Kinda interested in seeing what Gamefreak does with Mega Glalie. Pretty much almost anything with make it slightly better and Gamefreak can do something interesting with it.

Oh who am I kidding, they'll probably give him a typing to give him x4 weakness to fighting and make it slow enough that anything will one-shot him.
