Exclusive GTA 5 Content Revealed For PS4, Xbox One and PC

I had the game for PS3 but traded it in for more than I paid for it. Didn't go onto GTA Online, so it looks like I will not benefit from this exclusive content.

Will there be ever Story DLC for GTA V? I will switch from 360 to PS4, so I won't get these fancy things anyway.

I don't like GTA Online, but love GTA V, and it's kind of depressing that there are only expansions for GTA Online available on Xbox Live.

Az987

all good things
So if I borrow my brothers Xbox 360 copy and link it to my social club I'll get all this when I link my ps4 copy to it or does it only work 360 to Xbox one and vice versa?

Being annoyed that content is being witheld from you for no good reason is entitlement now? Literally shaking my head at this.

the issue here is those who already own the game see this as something they earned and the rest of us are just spoiled cry babies who should just settle for the vast content they already experienced

you can't please everyone when you gate off content

the Dodo has cool GTA history tied to it, it may not have the same short wings but I feel some bitterness if I can't pay to fly it later lol

I own a PS3 and a PS4. I will be new to GTA V. Never played it on last-gen consoles.

So, if I want to play this new content on PS4 starting on Nov. 18, I would probably have to buy a new copy of GTAV on PS3 in the next few weeks and sign up for Social Club and play online for a bit on PS3.

On November 18th I buy the PS4 version, transfer from PS3 to PS4 and I get this content.

Really ?

I really don't understand this line of thinking.

You really can't see it's a harder pillow to swallow to go out a re-purchase a game that is basically the same with improvements, than first timers?

None of these things are things the game needs. It's already overloaded with stuff, that it's barely a footnote. To me this just reads like bland entitlement. You don't need to have everything.

You don't get how someone can be upset that they're not getting content that's already on the disc they paid for?

Yeah, that's a really shitty practice.

No thanks, Roxtar.

If you're really gonna reward previous players, do it like Valve - with skins. Excluding gameplay material from the majority of the userbase is not the way to go.

I own it on X360 but never played it because my 360 died before I managed to boot it up.

So what?
What a specious argument.

I didn't tell R* to not release a PC port when it was first released.
I didn't tell R* to decide to remove content from the PC port to appease the console only double dippers.

So now I'm outside of their hype cycle, and being outside the hype cycle of any game let's you be surprisingly choosy and patient about what to play and when.

So as I said I'll wait for the GOTY edition.

Come on, be honest for a moment -- if this really minor bonus to double-dippers irks you so much you're going to wait for a GOTY edition, you weren't going to buy it at launch anyway. You're just taking up a cause and arguing for the sake of arguing. Companies often reward returning customers. If you really want to be rewarded like those people, go out and buy the last gen game, then buy the new one. Problem solved.

Or, you could quit whining, rent the game for less than the cost of the DLC, get the returning customer bonus, and have nothing to complain about.

Well put. I'm not sure if I'll wait (depends on if it is a gift or not) but it's stupid.

It's on there as a bonus to the people who paid way more than you. It's not for you. Until they release it as DLC. Because of course they will.

It's the same as the Mewtwo in Smash thing, people are freaking out because double dippers get freebies that will certainly, inevitably be available for purchase later anyway. It's dumb shitty whining.

Seriously, GTAV is such a ridiculously awesome game it is boggling my mind right now that so many of you who already waited so long for it are passing on it on account of a plane and a gun and a mission. You know there are lots and lots of all three of those already there, right?

You will still get this content, as long as you were signed to Rockstar Social Club. Which you can still do.

Social Club is cross platform.

Too bad they couldn't add in more heist, even if optional and gave rewards that were not money in case that was an issue. You know, more houses, cars, clothing, you name it.

I really wanted more heist.

I paid for PS3 version of the game but never played GTA Online. I won't get it.

You don't have to play GTA Online, you just have to sign into the Social Club -- it tracks single player progress. Just boot up the game and log in, if you never have. You should be good to go.

It's just a punishment for second guessing rockstars decision to release a next gen version in my eyes.

As someone that does own the PS3 version, I completely agree with the people upset that content is locked from new players. On disc DLC is always a shitty practice especially if it's gameplay content. If they wanted to reward old players they should have offered the game at a discounted price for those players, not lock new content away from new players.

I don't know what the social club is. I traded the game in for GTA V on PS4 while there was a bonus at EB Games. I don't recall the Social Club.

Nope. Was going to pick it up at launch; now I won't bother.

Fans of GTA 4 probably don't understand...For someone who felt the last game was a waste of time and money, GTAV is just another videogame. I hear it's better than the last one, and I'd like to play it. But I don't like supporting publishers who withhold on-disc content. I'm not annoyed that they're rewarding fans; I'm annoyed they're doing it by punishing newcomers. It's entirely possible to do one without doing the other.

And no, I'm not going to jump through a bunch of hoops to unlock the content. I'll just play something else.

Just a question: did they ever say it was on disc? I don't see that in the announcement. It could just be a day 1 download.

I think it's great that they're giving people even more reason to buy the new versions.

But still no heists after they hyped them so much on the current versions? Come on Rockstar.

Being annoyed that content is being witheld from you for no good reason is entitlement now? Literally shaking my head at this.

It is. How is it not entitlement? Somebody is complaining about how things should be, thus they think they are entitled to somethIng. I am a bit preplexed that you actually want to argue that point?

I'm not a double dipper, but I think it's great they get something for buying the same thing again, with a small amount of improvements. I don't presume to think I deserve everything like the concept of fairness is just something that is a given from my point of view.

From the perspective of someone who bought the game before, they have spent a lot more money on it than I will. I think it's fair the developers made something for them. This is not like gating DLC or content that was a part of the original game. This is a thank-you present for old players. Acting like everybody deserves presents, just seems like entitlement to me.

But so what? Is that even interesting to debate here. Who isn't entitled in some way? I'm just saying that I think it's weird how Aske is so sure that nobody is deterred from re-purchasing the game again, full price unless they get a little sense of appreciation. I think plenty of people appreciate that the devs made something, way way way post release, just for them. As I said, I'm not a double dipper, and I don't support DLC, pre-order exclusives and other stuff for things that was supposed to be in the original game, but this hardly seems like that to me. I might be wrong.
Was these things actually planned for the original game and held back on purpose to make more money on double dippers? Well, if the truth is something like that, I certainly feel they had an obligation to explain that pre-release of the original GTA5, but it doesn't seem to be that, with Heists not even being out now. This must have been something they cooked up later.

Nice that there are some bonuses. Looking forward to finally playing this, though on PS4 or PC, I'm not sure. We'll see what these ports come out like. (I'm concerned about how CPU bound this will end up being and whether it had been better optimized for a large number of cores.)

Please elaborate on how you're being punished.

Giving a customer a bonus for prior purchases does not equal punishment. If I'm in a sandwich shop and someone gets a free sandwich for getting a frequent customer card punched, I shouldn't expect a free sandwich also -- even if there are sandwiches on the counter.

Minority.

You think so? I suspect very few of the millions of casual players who bought the game last gen will double-dip day 1. And when you factor in how many double-dippers will be locked out of the content because they didn't bother to sign up for Rockstar's social network...

I'd be very interested to know what percentage of day 1 buyers unlock this content.

Maybe I am okay. I made a Social Club account and then I linked it up with my PSN account. My statistics from the PS3 version now show up online. All of my 5.98% and 01:49:48. Would this be adequate to receive the exclusive content? Still BS for everyone else.

I see this as two customers buying the same sandwich, but the onions are removed at the cash register for the guy without the punchcard.

So they're gating off a bunch of content to people who didn't buy the 360/PS3 version?

Will wait for the GOTY edition then. You already made me wait well over a year for the PC version, it's not going to be hard to wait another 6 months on top of that.

Even worse, they're gating it off for those who own a last gen version and don't want to buy a new system and a rerelease to play this extra content. Not even an option to buy it as addon content on those old systems. Not everyone is ready to spend on next gen yet.

It makes the wait for the GOTY edition real fucking easy.

You're just taking up a cause and arguing for the sake of arguing.

Thanks for deciding my position for me Captain Strawman.

Companies often reward returning customers.

Defined here as "People who bought the PS360 versions of one particular game", not "People who have historically purchased previous titles"?

If you really want to be rewarded like those people, go out and buy the last gen game, then buy the new one. Problem solved.

Or, you could quit whining, rent the game for less than the cost of the DLC, get the returning customer bonus, and have nothing to complain about.

"Whining" = "Wait for a better deal as a customer" now?

EDIT:

Apparently you don't count as a "returning customer" either. Because fuck you, give me $60.

A very IGN/EA way of thinking. The extra content alone should make the pill easier to swallow. Or does knowing first time players can't enjoy it make it even easier? If so, Rockstar's gamble on pettiness may have been successful.

I'm not annoyed that returning players get rewarded. I'm annoyed that the reward is day one, on-disc content that Rockstar ensured new players can't use.

First of all, to assume IGN/EA's way of thinking is somehow tied to the idea you can't reward loyalty for early adapters, which is something that countless of companies do across all industries, when asking players to re-buy the same thing, is just downright juvenille. EA has thousands of employees, many who are just hard working people who don't make choices, and who may, or may not disagree with their marketing and content distribution. It's silly to look at this like some black/white thing.

Secondly, "make the pill easier to swallow" is an inane statement considering how over-loaded the game already is with vehicles. You haven't even played the game so you have no idea. Take my word for it, when I saw that this is a bucket of water in the ocean, and is barely a footnote compared to the breath of content in this game. These are new models and skins for existing stuff.
This is not a new campaign, or some new actual story build content. This is so insignificant that there is no reason to be jealous of them just getting a little something as a thank you.

I see this as two customers buying the same sandwich, but the onions are removed at the cash register for the guy without the punchcard.

But, they're not the same - one is a repeat customer, the other isn't. A better analogy for your checkout metaphor is one get free extra cheese for being a return customer, the other does not. Again, the cheese is there, the store is just rewarding loyalty.

You think so? I suspect very few of the millions of casual players who bought the game last gen will double-dip day 1. And when you factor in how many double-dippers will be locked out of the content because they didn't bother to sign up for Rockstar's social network...

You're right on this. Very few will double-dip, hence the enticement. That's why they're offering a bonus for people to pay again for a game they've already played. I'm sure they've done the calculus to understand how many potential customers they may alienate with such a promotion. I think far less new players would refuse to buy the game than old players deciding to buy the game again because of the bonus. Net sales will probably go up because of it.

I see this as two customers buying the same sandwich, but the onions are removed at the cash register for the guy without the punchcard.

yeah but one guy paid 120 dollars instead of 60 dollars for his sandwich.

Your analogy doesn't take into consideration that the new version will canabalize the online portion of the original game. hurting it's online community's lifespan, thus either forcing people to remain in a dying online game because it's on an old platform. And this is the fault of the developers as they get a portion of the community on a different platform, thus splitting the community, thus forcing people to buy the new version to remain relevant with the new community. It's shitty practice to launch something marketed as a living, breathing online world that will continue to thrive for years, and then do something like this, without compensating it.

For better or worse, GTA5 was released at the end of the last generation, and many people felt it should have been re-worked for the new consoles, ala Star Fox. They choose not to do that, and this is the result you see before you.

You may have missed it, but I specifically said "it's not wrong". I'm not saying Rockstar should or shouldn't do anything. I'm saying announcing a slew of exclusive content for day one players that is withheld from a large group of consumers will irritate people; and it would have been entirely possible to reward returning players without irritating newcomers.

You can feel free to think of the fans being given an extra cherry on their sundae. I'm afraid that I can only view this as Rockstar removing the cherry from new players. And viewed from that perspective, it's far less about the cherry than it is about the ice cream guy being a douche. I'd rather just buy ice cream somewhere else.

Wait, are you guys telling me it's already too late to even rush out and get a last-gen copy for $60, make a Rockstar Social Club account, create a character, play GTA Online for a few days to be ready to really start playing on the new gen version with the new content ?

Or do I still have 3 weeks to be "a returning player" ?

Sound great! I'm really hyped for GTA V. I gave away my 360 after getting the next gen consoles and haven't played since.. Can't wait to go back to San Andreas again.

So OP information is wrong?
New Events & Rewards
- Encounter new events happening all across the world, and complete the challenges they present to unlock exclusive new vehicles like the menacing Imponte Duke O’Death and that veritable GTA classic bird of flight, the Dodo seaplane.

Murder Mystery
- As Michael, follow a trail of cryptic clues to unravel a grisly murder mystery. Put the clues together and you'll unlock two Noir Style Filters, which will give your Story Mode gameplay and Snapmatic photos the feel of a gritty old school crime classic.

that sounds like actual content.

Lol then my point was right, you weren't going to be buying anyway, but you want to argue about something that wouldn't affect you. There is no issue with waiting for the GOTY edition, it's smart financially. My point was, you were arguing without ever having the intent to purchase at launch in the first place.
