Exclusive GTA 5 Content Revealed For PS4, Xbox One and PC

Every GTA main game has been released on the PC. The series began its life on the PC.

It really upsets me to see the whole series is not on PC, though. Primarily the Stories games, as Vice City Stories has a far more fleshed out game world than Vice City. The same especially goes with Liberty City Stories compared to III. Bonus points for them both having fully functional cameras, too.

I can understand Chinatown Wars as the scope and scale of the game clearly was designed for portable play, but both Stories titles were more of getting a console experience on a handheld, which I felt was accomplished.

I've never played online and never logged in the social club IIRC, I guess that means I'm fucked?

Save files and PSN uploads/trophies are worthless then...

Really nice way to provide incentive (unnecessarily in my case) to buy the updated game if you'd already played the previous gen. Bring it Blaine County!!

Gonna buy used if this is the case. Either give this to new owners + previous owners. This is like ND saying, if you bought TLoU on PS3, you get Left Behind free on ps4 else everyone has to pay $15 as usual.

As a PC gamer, I have to call bullshit because -wait a second...

*looks over to PS3 copy of GTAV*

Did I say bullshit? I meant awesome!

The only bullshit is the wait :(

To get to bonuses you only need to log into social afaik. The online stuff is only about transferring your online character, which is self-contained.

I imagine you can just create your social now and you'll get the bonuses when the next gen releases.

Duke O' Death looks amazing. I wonder if we will be able to have it in GTAO. Probably not.

Still no word on Heists. They should just come out and either give a release date for heists or just announce they cancelled it. I am sick of waiting.

Don't really like the sound of this. I get that everyone who bought the prior release is stoked but (shoddy analogy incoming) this is kind of like telling people they can only have the extended editions of TLOTR trilogy on BluRay if they bought and registered the theatrical DVDs.

I think I'll wait a while and see if they ever release a complete package for new buyers. Not a problem for me. Might be a thread title change is in order too if it's truly not new content for everyone.

This decision really made you not buy the game now or were you really not that excited for the game anyways?

This "content" is so miniscule that it is ridiculous for people to not buy the game because of it. and I don't see a "complete" version coming anytime soon because nothing is really missing anyways.

Say the PC ver had a special edition that cost an extra 20-60 bucks and it gave you a small extra mission, some weapons, some vehicles, and $1 Mil in extra cash?

I bet most of you would just pay for the vanilla version -I would.

The bonus content isn't that substantial. The console ver even had a code for a blimp (to lock out the used market) and I swear I touched that blimp once.

Who cares about a submarine and a hatchet?

And if you really do, you have until January-whatever to go to a friends place and make a R* Social account to get that stuff for free.

Well, similar aspects of GTA Online follow this premise, but are actually time limited; they have actually released content that had to have been accessed in a particular window and players failing to jump in could not get the content at a later time. There is no way of getting that content otherwise, nor has Rockstar given any indication they'll allow it again. The July DLC had a rocket launcher in particular that was only available during that timeframe, and I believe it outclasses the regular one in strength.

For a lot of the stuff they announced here, you can bank on a PC modification that unlocks it, or it eventually being available to all people at a later date. Both GTA V and GTA Online presently feature content that can only be unlocked via Social Club as is, so this is not a new model they're trying to rig people into using. In fact, doing it in GTA Online was rather important as all you can get at the start of the game is a pistol, and you have to level up to get machine guns. Linking to Social Club nets you an exclusive machine gun, for no ingame money I believe.

I'm not a fan of this being a burn on people who waited on the game, but I also have a hard time imagining they're really going to sit on and lock this content away from users who have not jumped in. Even so, one can very easily circumvent all of this by finding a friend who has the game and borrowing their copy - or even game platform if one lacks a PS3 or 360 - for literally 30 minutes at max.

I was going to buy it, but now they have given me a reason to wait which I don't mind doing. Most of those additions look worthwhile to me.

This is a curious move and I don't think it's ever happened before (it may have but I don't recall anything like it.) Usually they will stack a game with new content which will bring back returning players AND give players who had previously held out more incentive to make the purchase.

I don't know if it's going to net them more return buyers than it will cost them new buyers who might now feel like they are getting less than others.

It's tempting but I think I'll be passing until online heist or single player DLC is added unless I find it on sale during the next two months.

I love the outrage. How dare Rockstar give some reskinned vehicles and a new weapon to say thanks to the people who already played the previous game and double-dipped.

How DARE they.

Your welcome, that is the system we chose and if a person pays more they get more.

Just FYI my post was sarcasm and I actually object to capitalism in very major ways, but that is the system we live under and if you don't like that unfortunately the majority of the US and world is against you. Moral quandaries do not fall in with market societies very often anymore, the more you pay means that you deserve more, and that is just the way our society is (which is sad btw).

You act as if this was automatic and Rockstar had no say in deciding this, simply because capitalim. Even in capitalism it is fully up to companies what they do and how they act. There are companies even in gaming industry that treat all their customers better than this (4A, CD Projekt..). We should want all companies to behave like them, instead of excusing bad behaviour with notions like "this is capitalism, brah".

I literally don't know anyone IRL who still has a last gen console or isn't primarily a PC gamer.

This would be a valid point if the PC version had been released at some point in the 12 month window of the initial launch.
Content gating PC owners for not buying a PS360 game is the exact same thing as content gating PS4 or Xbone owners for not owning a WiiU.
If anyone tried that, you would be screaming the place down.

That'll show em!

Not really.

Like every other AAA title that delivers a late half-assed port they'll just blame piracy of the PC platform as a whole and absolve themselves of any blame in not offering a compelling purchase to legitimate customers.

I'm actually done with my 360 version of the game if anyone from the UK actually wants it so they can get these features PM me and it's yours.

It's just gonna gather dust, I would rather give it to a gaffer than sell it to GAME (I'm mostly digital now)

Well they've added probably 7-8x more content than this new stuff since release via free monthly DLC updates... That's a lot of new content to bring back new players who left after just beating the game at launch. Many of those are a lot more unique than these, too. Game has added, what, 24 or so new unique cars, 8-9 new weapons, 2 map/mode editors (which has added countless of player-made maps and tracks), and a lot of new official missions/maps/tracks, too. Plus now the exclusive special/collector's edition items are also now available, so that's a little bit extent content, too, for all.

Combined with probably a similar amount, if not more, new content for the remaster available to all players (they said they're adding lots of new cars and at least generic missions/events), they probably figure that's already a ton of content and this return player content is a rather tiny portion relative to that. I guess at least... it is a bit more than I would of expected, granted. I'm not sure when you'd have to "wait" to get it though... maybe a year if the launch exclusives are any indication. I'm sure PC modders will make mods available for it within weeks though.

I held off on buying the game for a potential next gen version, and now I miss out on content because of it.

Can someone just answer my question?

If I go out to GS in the morning and get a new copy of GTA V for PS3, sign up for Rockstar's Social Club and play GTA Online for a bit and save my game, will I then be able to have this extra content for the PS4 version on Nov. 18th ?

Well, I guess there is always Redbox.

This was my plan too. Grabbed a PS3 copy from Redbox with the hope of installing it to link the social account and nothing more. Couple hours later of trying to get it to install, and no luck. Pretty sure the disc is scratched too severely. It locks up and freezes during the mandatory 8 GB install, never progressing beyond 1.9 GB. Back it goes to Redbox. I'll have to ask around and see if I can borrow a copy.

I believe that's how it works. Might be worth playing a few story missions too, then just check your progress on the social club and you should be golden.

I've just done this (as I previously played GTAV under a different PSN account)

Signed into Rockstar Games Social Club, linked my PSN account (you have to remember to do this) then installed GTAV and played the prologue and first mission and now my social club account under games and GTAV shows I've completed that stuff.

Exactly this! It's normal they try to give incentives to the +30 millions people that already bought the game.

Totally forgot that I still have GTA V installed on my PS3, so I went on and joined Social club without any hitch :p

This. I forget where I saw it but I'm pretty sure I saw you have to have to Prologue completed. I can't even remember if you can directly load into GTAO the very first time (it should let you switch between loading SP and MP in any other case) or maybe the very first time GTAV ever loads, you're forced to at least load into the Prologue directly. Complete the Prologue and then connect to a Social Club and you're golden.

Doesn't that sound right though? You're not particularly doing Rockstar a favor when holding off on buying their games. A lot of people went through the same thought process but ended up biting the bullet, and they are getting their reward for it.

That being said, it's such a non-issue due to how easy to circumvent the problem this is.

I have my account from Red Dead so I'm good there. Went back to link GTA4 to my PSN account and WTF'd at no trophies... until I realised I played and completed the game before they patched trophies in! Always means to go back but never got around to it.

hmm
not really enticing for me.
I'd much more welcome a better price to ...reward me for buying the same game two times (or three if you add the pc ver down the line)
so
meh

I don't quite understand how they verify that you're a returning player.

It makes sense that it'd be handled by the Social Club somehow.

*confused*

That's exactly how it's going to work. When I go to the game tab on the social club it recognises that I've played RDR from my linked PSN account.

I look at this like Rockstar throwing a bone to early adopters. Which is a super classy thing to do. The stuff mentioned isn't amazing, I was going to buy this regardless, but its a nice cherry on top.

A slightly off topic question, (my google fu is weak) does anyone know if the timed exclusive event GTA ONLINE DLC and collectors edition DLC (which I don't think ever became available for purchase) will or wont be useable available in the PS4/XONE/PC versions?

I hope they are because I quite like the collectors edition roadster.

Wait, there isn't a monster truck in the game without this pack? If so, I'll have to give my brother a call and borrow his copy so that I'll get that car in pc version.

Special Edition and Collector's Edition exclusive items will be available to all players in the new version (they become in-game purchases).

Timed GTAO DLC... I'm not sure. Stuff like the Vapid Liberator monster truck or Western Sovereign bike were removed or unavailable after the event but that was a bug. Pretty sure even those who fully patch up but missed that DLC event still get access to it, at least in SP via the Garage special cars menu. I would assume event items like that will be available. But stuff like the 'event weekend' Manhunt t-shirt? I doubt it but I'm sure Rockstar will recycle a lot of events next year again since so many are calender based.

Game already has a monster truck. This new one is just a re-skin. Basically a Picador body on top of the Liberator chasis.

Locked content?

Guess I'll wait for the Steam sale then, as I do with all games that have these bullshit policies. When I buy your game, I should have the same content as everyone else.
