Just Cause 3 screenshots Leaked [Update: New microtransaction hell screenshots]

Naw, if Saint's Row had a F2P edition, they'd do something hilarious with it, like make it so when you try to enter an area you haven't paid for, an overpowered thug pops up and breaks the fourth wall, holding you up at virtual gunpoint to pay for the zone.

Saint's Row wouldn't be that unoriginal. (Dragon Age: Origins beat them to it years ago.)

I stopped playing DA: O as soon as that happened.

I really, really hope this isn't stuffed with microtransactions/paymium/freemium/shite. Hopefully some new leaked screens will emerge which show it in a better light, and which aren't completely ravaged by excessive watermarks.

So will the game still screw over people who just want to play missions?
Really hated how JC2 had what 5 story missions and to get to them you basically just had to screw around until you had enough chaos.

Oh dear God, I was so excited until I saw the microtransactions.

Why must every Japanese game company just poke the corpse of their value IP's with sticks instead of pulling out the defibrillator?

Square Enix. Making everything online F2P is their plan for their western properties going forward.
So far Sleeping Dogs, Legacy of Kain, and Just Cause.
Next is Deus Ex, Hitman, and eventually (sooner rather than later if the next one doesn't launch on other platforms fast enough) Tomb Raider.

Looking at nosgoth..that panned horrible. Looking at Triad Wars..another one that is beyond something i never wanted. And now this? Good job Square kill everything in the process.

Just Cause 2 was (and still) is my ish. I LOVE this game. Saw the thread title and immediately started gasming.

Then microtransactions was mentioned.

My heart...

Square pls. Don't do this. Not like this.

I don't want to drive the free cars in Just Cause 2, why would I ever spend actual money on them in JC3?

Why would you do this, Square?

Mods were pretty much the only thing about JC2 that made it fun, take away that and I don't give a shit about it.

not a huge update from last game at least from those pictures, the player model looks much better but the hill in the distance etc look sameish.

definitely excited though, just cause 2 was my favorite 3rd person open world game even over GTA5

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Everyone is jumping on the F2P stuff but JC2 looked pretty amazing right when it came out considering the scale, especially if you flew up really high and looked down at everything.

These screens to me look worse than JC2 though. The lack of foliage, or really much of any detail in the distance. It's early pictures but wow, it looks really rough.

Might be GTAV comparisons, but even ignoring that pipe, those screenshots don't look very impressive at all. Is anything upgraded over JC2 PC even? I only played JC2 on PS3.

Maybe the diamonds are like the coins from John Wick, where cash will buy you regular stuff, but the diamonds are rare as hell and only the really good stuff can be bought with them, and the diamonds are very hard to find and even if you find them all, you'd only be able to buy a quarter of the exclusive items; you'd have to choose what to buy.

...

I can dream, can't I?

Take notes developers/publishers. This is how you ruin good games/series.

Fml! :(

I hope there's an SP campaign and Avalanche takes the time to ensure everything that is tied into the completion percentage actually adds up to 100%. Even after modding into JC2 the missing collectables and water tower I still had to settle for less than 100% despite Map Viewer confirming I'd done everything else.

Both worry me equally tbh. I there anyway we could let devs know we won't put up with this shit? Aside from just not buy the game.

My comment was sarcastic. A game that's basically an f2p title that you also have to pay for up front is like the worst of both worlds since you don't get a lot of the benefits of f2p, yet get all the drawbacks.

Hopefully this isn't really microtransactions and just some in-game joke!

Now I'm worried about whatever might happen to DeusEx :(

Paymium title? Why? This is the weirdest type of game to put that kind of stuff in. Interest lost, considering Just Cause 2 was really fun.

A F2P Just Cause game?

This is the worst idea ever. Hopefully this leak produces enough backlash that they can change it before an official announcement.

I don't think this will be F2P. It will be pay up front and "enhance game experience" with real moneyz, but will let you grind in-game money.

I don't care if it's F2P or just has pay elements, I'm out.

Not paying £40 for a game that then goes "HEY GIVE US MORE MONEY FOR X" every few minutes.

JC is dead to me if this is the case.

I would be TOTALLY FINE if it were F2P and JUST LIKE JC2 Multiplayer with:

-no story
-2000+ person servers
-custom building elements
-stupidity everywhere!

Square Enix: "Well I guess people just don't want more Just Cause, we'll never make it again"

Exactly what makes situations like this so frustrating. I wish devs would stop just looking at the sales figures and decide that no one wants to play the series anymore and hire some people to actually find out why people didn't want to play the said game. They might learn something. Dead Space 3 is a pretty good example of this. Just kept changing the direction of the game so far away from what made people like the original and then they pull the plug because it came below their forecast. For some reason it didn't appeal to the fans as much and apparently the CoD audience that they were trying to appeal to already had the CoD experience in it's purest form every year.

Just getting a little frustrated about publishers doing these seemingly unnecessary changes to their games, having them perform poorly and burying the franchises.

Thread title should be "Just Cause, 3 screenshots leaked" because that's not the Just Cause 3 we deserve. :(

Mmorpg like? Monthly costs? Digital release only?

MMO-ish would make sense -- based on the screens, it doesn't appear that they've upgraded the graphics or world design significantly from the previous game. Maybe they spent most of their development with MMO stuff; quests, online functionality with lots of other players, etc. Also, the blurred out text next to the logos in the background of the first picture might indicate some sort of faction/guild system?

Since the games have had such huge worlds, lots of different vehicles and stuff, maybe they thought it'd be easy to turn it into an MMO. If they implement a decent quest or mission system it might be fun for some people. Unfortunately, then it'd just be another "MMO" with, I assume, some fun mechanics, if they manage to implement the grappling hook and parachute, or similar mechanics.

Part of the reason why I liked Just Cause 2 so much was because it had a huge world for you to play around in with some awesome mechanics -- and, while MMO's tend to have huge worlds, they rarely have interesting or varied mechanics (Probably because of possible delays due to ping, as well as the general game design of an MMO -- playing with so many people requires structured and streamlined game design and progression in order to make it rewarding for everyone.), and it's just not the same when availability of the game is dependent on servers hosted by the publisher/developer.

If they are indeed going with an online type of solution, then I really doubt they'd expand on the very unique mechanics in the previous games, which is what I was hoping for, along with a more detailed and varied world. Mechanics like a more complex grappling hook system, wires, a physic system, more destroyable objects, etc. would have been awesome.

I found JC2 incredibly boring however I was interested in seeing what happened with JC3 but...those microtransactions. I'll be avoiding this game completely.
