Halo 5 beta clips leak (sprint, ADS is *not* COD-style) (more clips and info added)

Horribly ignorant question: how is ADS different than say using the BR with scope in Halo 2? Been awhile since I've played a Halo.
Its not, and thats the problem. Past halo's had only a handful of guns that slowed the pace of the game when used. ADS across the board will make all guns slow the pace of the game.

Man what is with 343. You're going to lose the Halo crowd, while not keeping whatever crowd you're going for with this mess. Just like with Halo 4. I can't imagine how they rationalize these decisions.

If it doesn't slow you down and is just toggle zoom, I'll let them off.

If it's CoD style ADS, it'll kill SP gameplay too.

It'd better just be the zoom for that one weapon.

Can someone put a that red circle with the slash through it over my avvy please? Would like that to be my avatar from now on.

Doesn't seem like it really changes much from the zooms we've doing with the BR and DMR for years. Assuming it isn't on all weapons.

How did 343i go from the MCC to... this?

Have they learnt nothing over the last two years with Halo 4? Such an incompetent studio. From day one they've tried to turn Halo into CoD.

MCC is just a collection of the 4 games with a mix of different playlist.

That's not exactly creating anything from scratch

If only evolve wouldn't mean "become like any other shooter out there." Halo has plenty of room for evolution, however evolution shouldn't be misunderstood as giving up your identity.

Problem is that any new feature that is added is seen as Halo loosing it's identity. So how would it ever "evolve" as you said if the Halo fans are not evolving themselves?

For you.
Wait till after the damn beta before complaining about it. There is a reason why they are doing a beta...

Erm, that's an extra reason to complain then. If people complain then they will maybe fix it. If nobody complained they would just assume everyone is ok with it and release it this way.

Is it possible the ADS is just a new look for clicking on the stick and zooming? As long as it behaves the way it does in the other games and isn't on every weapon then I don't see a problem.

That said if I see someone whip out an AR and look down a scope I'm done. Wouldn't put it past 343 anyway.

Wasn't 343i made largely by people who worked at Retro on Metroid Prime games? I thought they would know how to treat a veteran game series like Halo well. Guess it's just another case of Nintendo guidance bringing the best (or maybe the only good) out of people.

because it allows shitty players to have a better chance at hitting things

it's the trend in gaming and people support this shit. more coddling, more hand holding, more ways to appease horrendous players who get annoyed they can't acquire the skill sets to compete, and so they ruin it for the rest of us who actually want exciting and engaging skill-based combat.

EXACTLY!

Look at this mess,

http://a.pomf.se/bimstn.webm

This has no place in Halo. None.

None.

None.

Not sure why people are mad.

I don't play Halo, but what's wrong with ADS...? It's not like you're forced to use it.

And it's all of a sudden a cod clone? Because it has ADS? The fuck?

And sprinting? That's... That's a bad thing? You guys do realise you don't have to sprint either right?

So lost...

I don't play Halo either and even I know this post doesn't make any sense. That's like allowing the use of motorcycles in football. Of course you don't have to use them but the game will change regardless. Changing the rules changes the game. And that's what upsets people here.

How does anyone know there's ADS across the board though? The gun in the video is the BR...

Fucking hell. One of the main reasons I always found Halo likable was no ADS and sprinting ruined Reach for me.

Fuck you, 343.

I didn't have problems with ADS and sprinting in Halo 4. I had a problem with level and encounter design. That and all the weapons were the same.

The way they went into and out of it so quickly suggests it's on LT, just like every other fucking game ever.

It's certainly a feature that makes sense and is justified from my perspective. People do aim down weapon sites, and have done since the creation of the firearm. It makes less sense to exclude it than include it. I think there is too much adversity to adopting features in games that are popular and common, because by extension, it generally means a mechanic is successful, and wanted. I cannot speak to the way this may change a Halo game, as my experience with them is extremely limited.

So i have never played Halo so i don't care much about the series but your complains makes me realize how hard is to make a sequel to a series that has a very defined core. How do you make sequel that feels different enough while retaining the things that made the people like it in the first place? Because that seems fucking hard.

It's worth noting as well that on top of being a garbage way to appease bad players, it also entirely changes the pace of the combat. Early Halo titles had an amazing ebb and flow to the combat, where every engagement was tense. Now you have an entire stutter-stop flow, one where some are stopping/slowing for ironsights, and others are engaging sprint to get out of dodge. It becomes an entirely different and decidedly non-Halo experience.

Having ADS in is a total game design changer. If this is legit then Halo might as well be dead if 343 can't be confident enough to stick to what the Halo formula is always most enjoyed about. They lack the balls to truly make Halo shine for what people loved it for than going for the Call of duty audience.

Frankie you done goofed.

I would think that if the movement speed isn't reduced, then all is well, right, since the only difference between ADS and not ADSing is only how you position your gun? Idk I'll wait and see more before I make rational judgements unlike everyone else lol.

I am not against Sprint and ADS in Halo.
The reactions in here, and the thread title are ridiculous.

Oh. Well this would be surprising if they actually adhered to this, knowing how many betas worked last gen.

That's what they're going for. There's so much time until release, they could probably rebuild multiplayer from scratch if they had to, based on feedback, and still release in time.

Oddly enough sprint bothers me more than ADS. On a side note holy shit Halo 5 is gonna be a real looker aint it!

Yes you are. ADS typically means hip-fire is pitifully inaccurate and players need to drastically slow down their movement in order to hit anything.

On the off chance this is just the visual appearance of zoom as it works in other Halo games, then they only half-ruined it by keeping sprint.
Okay so everyone's assuming hipfire accuracy has gone down the shitter? Because if that's not the case, the hate is still unjustified.

And what's wrong with sprint?

Honest questions here. I've never played Halo but I understand the mechanics it had.

I play Halo and still do not get why it is offensive. No what?

Then I guess you don't play that much?

Well either way, I'm not trying to be a dick. I'll explain.

Sprint. Now, I like sprint. But majority of fans don't. And they have great points as to why. The main reason is that Sprinting requires a major change in the map design. Maps need to be larger in size, and base speed is slightly reduced. Look at the map design for Halo 4 and compare It to Halo 2/3. The size is vastly different.

ADS. Halo is a arena shooter. Its meant to be fast. Hip shooting is prevalent in all the Halos. Now fans are upset because in this video it seems like ADS was added, which if done similar to other games would slow down the gameplay a lot.

My personal views are lets wait until the beta. This is a small clip. Less than 2 months guys.

The proliferation of ADS is one of the worst things that has happened to the shooter genre. What dumb, useless mechanic.

I do like ADS for the sake of immersion, especially after firing guns at the range. ADS feels good to me, I've always found the mechanic satisfying. I understand that it slows down gameplay, which is what seems to be upsetting people, guess I just don't care. I've played Halo games, and especially loved the series on the OG Xbox, but I can't summon an inkling of outrage. A sign of true indifference.
