Halo 5 beta clips leak (sprint, ADS is *not* COD-style) (more clips and info added)

I don't get what the big deal is. Just don't use ADS. Problem solved. Holy crap.

Doesn't work that way, because ADS usually effects hip fire accuracy in a negative way. You pretty much have to rely on it. Now, it remains to be seen if the implementation in H5 will effect hip fire or is just cosmetic.

Yeah, and Halo Reach was one of the worst received Halo games. Right next to, oh, Halo 4. Huh.

Your point?

People who just blindly buy the next game in the series are why game devs can get away with this. As long as they focus on the casual horde, it's all good. The core fans of the series can go bend over the railing and await inspection.

Even if this is just cosmetic, or just a variation on the BR scope (I'm really hoping for this. Stupid customization is better than changies in key mechanics..), 343i has made so many mistakes already that it's hard to have much faith.

Lol. Worst received by who? My god that 91`

ADS looks cosmetic and just a new way to show off zoom. It doesn't look to slow down the game at all with a closer look at it.

So you think the player that was using ADS could have jumped, strafed or kept running while staying in "ADS" mode? I highly doubt that, and the player didn't do it, it looked exactly like a CoD engagement, moving and looking around, see opponent, ADS, slow to a crawl and focus only on shooting the guy right in front of them. If that was any other Halo game the player would be shooting at their opponent while pushing their position, at the same time. Moving and shooting is not happening in that play.

Did Halo 4 do that or did Reach? Or better yet, is Halo overall just not as popular? I'll never be entirely convinced that if 343 made the game most here want it wouldn't also tank in population.

There's so much to play and so many MP shooters that people just don't dedicate the time to one game exclusively like they did in Halo 2/3 days.

Still, this new development is...interesting.

Halo 4 did that. they messed up.

Just don't use ADS?... And be at a serious disadvantage in literally every single encounter?

You cannot be serious?
Didn't other Halo players use the zoom on the battle rifle or the pistol in Halo 1? This is the same thing, basically.

Mario is also an SP series and Halo not having ADS makes it stand out. Adding it just makes it more similar to the most used shooting mechanic right now.

I agree. That's why I said that adding these things makes it clear that Halo is a follower and no longer a leader in the genre. Adding ADS and sprinting seem like feeble assertions to COD players that Halo is still cool, guys. But those guys just want to play COD. They might buy Halo 5, but they aren't going to stick around.

Canononically, i'd say that for Spartans, the top one makes the most sense. Its a camera feed which links up to your HUD and zooms in. Feel free to add in ADS if we're not playing as Spartans or ODSTs with a HUD system, because those soldiers would need to use the scope. For people with the high tech suits of armour, lets leave the zooming to the camera feed.

The graphics looked pretty sweet though right? I can see them being worried that not having ads is going to make younger players think that the game is dated. If its purely cosmetic and has no effect on accuracy thats great; if not then I can't imagine core fans of the series will be very happy.

Then I'd argue you don't really understand Halo if you think Destiny plays like a sped up Halo.

Halo was king, now it copies the new king.

Pathetic.

And you have a right to your opinion, but I'll bet the farm that I probably spent more hours playing the various Halos than most of the people losing their shit here. My gamertag is TheActionFigure. Check the stats before popping off about how much I don't understand Halo.

That 78 on user scores though. The lack of playtime that Halo 2 and 3 had. The general annoyances that plagued users. But, oh, right. You just read an arbitrary number and base your enjoyment on that. Congratulations.

Oh jeez.... 343i is a complete and utter joke. Hitmarkers, ADS, sprinting.... Every single damned FPS has these terrible and often screen cluttering features. I especially hate hit markers... Why did 343 add them? WHY? Bungie's games had visual cues as to when an enemy was hit, some blood, physics, the shields coming down... Hitmarkers just interfere with the experience and take me right out of the game.

Halo has plenty of SP fans, but i'm sure MS and 343 would like a healthy MP community as well.
Oh yeah. I agree. I was simply curious. I've never cared for Halo multiplayer too much. To me, Halo multiplayer was getting 4 TVs connected, and having a LAN party. I've never had as much fun playing against strangers online. That's why the campaign stuff is a bit of what I've latched onto for the past few Halo games.

Looking at it positively.

There is ADS but you can play just like old Halo with skill not using ADS, downside being some team mates are rooted or slow when shooting through ADS and that Halo flow doesn't always happen. 343 want both sets of players and both are catered to. It might work.

Graphics does look great

ITT: people not understanding what ADS is and what it does to the game

Exactly, I just pray enough mainstream gamers realise how much this can break the halo formula and speak out during the beta (assuming ADS is broken, I am going to give it a chance, as I really struggle that 343 can be THIS ignorant)

the clip is too short. So we will not know. We will find out tomorrow. I have no problem voicing my complaints. Honestly I am only keeping this optimism to keep me from going into an incredible rage. I really hope it is cosmetic. If it isn't, the beta will be the only time I play Halo 5 multiplayer.

Thats not really evolving gameplay and most of your features are shallow. New grenade types? That's every Halo. Fast arena style movement? Ok. Still a bit generic and doesn't really evolve gamplay. Fast paced gunplay? Halo already has that and has had that for awhile. Perks are ancillary.

Im starting to think you guys don't know what you want. You just are fear mongering against anything that looks slightly similar to COD or BF

I do know what I want. You can't dismiss my entire opinion and then tell me I don't know what I want. You just want people to make a list so you can use your arbitrary criteria to discredit that list. You have not adequately proven why this gameplay is dated and should no longer be used. BF is just like it was 10+ years ago. Should they evolve just 'cause?

Why does Halo need to evolve to a de-evolution in gameplay mechanics? CoD is a DE-evolution in the genre that has somehow caught on.

I keep asking what would make a good Halo game that has actually evolved gameplay but everyone keeps arguing against COD. I don't think making the game like COD is the answer. (I also don't think Sprint and ADS are COD exclusive mechanics)

What I want to know is exactly what do halo fans want. Not what you don't want. What features new and old will make you happy?

Watch any Halo MP gameplay video, and see how the players move and shoot. The move very swiftly, and when they shoot they are usually jumping. When you put ADS in there, this will mean players will no longer jump and shoot and instead stop and use ADS. This also means they will probably have to increase TTK otherwise it makes little sense to have a player stand in one place shoot for 3-4 seconds.

Super serious. People just flip out too much. I couldn't move much in Destiny while using ADS so I think it's a double-edged sword. Rather wait and see how they implement it. If it still has the same accuracy on hip fire as previous Halo games, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Doesn't work that way, because ADS usually effects hip fire accuracy in a negative way. You pretty much have to rely on it. Now, it remains to be seen if the implementation in H5 will effect hip fire or is just cosmetic.

Yeah I'll be waiting to see how it turns out. Just there's been sooooo much getting upset over games that haven't even come out yet that I wonder how high some people's blood pressure gets. lol

How would U guys feel if 343 kept adding content to halo MCC forge as a kind of tradeoff? New canvasses, items etc... the traditional halo community could be satisfied for a very long time

I really hope they nail forge this time around

Have you guys considered the 'ADS' might actually just be a visually-reworked zoom that doesn't affect movement/turn speed?

Edit: See above post.

I'm not gonna lie, thanks to all of THIS I'm now pretty interested in this game. Not the game itself though, just this.
