Assassin's Creed Unity - PC Performance thread

I'm not, I'm just trying out the game maxed atm. As I said in the OP Ill try it with different settings later on.

Ill install the Driver now, gonna try it again.

Anyways, have some screenshots in the meantime. SPOILERS

Might want to add that I didnt hit 30 the entire cutscene... As soon as gameplay hit I got to 40-50. (Without the drivers)

Awesome looking scenes. Any chance you could upload images to a place that does not compress them so much?

Honestly with a single 780 you had no chance whatsoever to run the game at max settings + TXAA and expecting 60fps.

It seems the game performs exactly as I predicted.

Welp, no AA for me then.
TXAA is the only AA option ? Haven't heard of SMAA, negligible performance hit and good IQ.

Please do the above. Flickr, minus, and abload are good.

Oh, sry yeah this thread moves so fast and I'm trying to do alot of things at once atm so I missed that. One second.

Also, guys. I'm not "expecting" anything. I'm testing it out with max settings on purpose. Jeez.

Here are the screenies on abload.

I was barely above 30fps at all times. Sometimes it dropped into the 20s.

Running a game all on max with a bunch of PC specific effects at 30fps doesnt mean the game is a crap PC version necessarily. It would be good to know how these exclusive effects affect performance.

OP hasn't installed the latest Nvidia drivers either, which is specifically for this game.

Yup. Some PC-specific effects are usually pretty heavy on the system, let's wait for more data before drawing a conclusion. Besides, 40-50 fps maxed out at 1080p doesn't sound bad at all.

Ubisoft Kiev ladies and gentlemen! Said it before and will say it again stay away from the PC version!

It's still yet to be seen how much higher the max PC settings are than the console settings, so it might just be a case of a game actually using pushing more effects and whatnot instead of running badly. AC4 ran just fine at console setting (fine as in the typical 260x / 750 ti could offer similar performance to consoles), so it will probably be the case that Unity runs a heck of a lot better once the settings are turned down from the enthusiast ones.

I'm still betting on a 750 ti + i3 running the game "fine". I guess we'll see though.

Thanks for the initial impressions. Won't be picking this up until it's cheap and fully patched up but subscribed and will follow closely, should be an interesting thread.

Considering the build up, i feel the performance is much better than expected. I would like to see some benchmarks without TXAA on though.

My card only has 1gb of VRAM. I hope the reqs were over estimating big time but sadly I don't think that is the case.

Its all happening. I can only do so many things at once. Maybe I opened the thread a bit too early - oh well.

Lo and behold, I built my 1200 dollar beast just a couple months ago. And I already can't ultra a game. Feels bad.

maybe it's need for me to finally overclock

Well he is talking about max settings plus the nVidia effects (PCSS for example is taxing) and TXAA which is also pretty damn taxing and he's on a powerful but not brand spanking new GPU.
I think it's still a bit poor performance but we probably need more benchmarks.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
Post more gameplay screens pls. Cutscenes look better than actual gameplay.

The screenshot with the whole building doesn't look hot like the other ones.

With that being said, my Vita with Remote Play is ready to play this with no aliasing at all with the supersampled image coming from my PS4.

Dat 5'' OLED.
Dat eye strain.

Never do 4xtxaa. Too blurry, stick to 2x.

There's no 4x or 2x setting. Its just "TXAA" in the options. Anyways Ill disable it and go with 4x MSAA and start from the beginning again. Gonna see what changed, my Internet is slow so downloading the driver takes a couple of minutes. Just gonna benchmark it without the nVidia effects.

Oddly enough I cant find a tesselation setting.. maybe its enabled by default.

30fps with 4xTXAA does not seem badly optimized to me. People are too quick to write this port off.

Same. This performance is genuinely not bad at all considering it's one of the best looking games available. Only Ryse and Crysis 3 i feel outdo this game visually.

If you wanted ultra settings you should have aimed a lot higher than that. Can only blame yourself really.

It's only expected that "maxing out" game will require multi GPU setups.

You're running 4xTXAA, like ACIII.
TXAA = MSAA performance wise.

You dun goofed! (I do appreciate you doing this thread of course)

But so much doom and gloom based on extremely limited data.

Ah, I see...dang, seems a tad blurry like that.

Hmm.

Thanks so much btw, still got 4 days before I can play :/

Damnit, now with the last minute SLI drivers, I wish I had got this for PC instead of ps4... I wonder how my 690 would do with it.

Can you try with everything maxed with no AA and no nVidia specific graphical features like PhysX and PCSS?

There is no Physx.

Extreme overreactions in a PC performance thread? Surely not! :)
Unfortunately, along with the classic "my brand new PC can't run this at max, crap port!!".

Same old same old, if only people realized what settings they're running there would be a lot less disappointments.

I just bought a stupidly expensive gaming laptop with a 870m in it, and it won't even be able to run it properly by the looks of things.
Honestly, what's the point in a PC version when they cut off a massive chunk of their market by demanding tech barely anyone has to run it?

Ah well, at least those screenshots you took were pretty, OP.
