The app is for the Assassins mini game, think Kenway's fleet, Brotherhood missions etc. Its loaded into an app rather than built into a game.So what's the deal with this companion app?
Is it just a way to throw advertisements at you? Get you to buy stuff?
Talk about a game breaking moment. Oh I climbed out of the way to get this chest! Hopefully I get something good!
"Please download our app to receive the treasure inside"
Fuuuuuuu!
Wait, it has microtransactions??
Is that a series first?
Man, Ubi. :/
How about not giving them any money? Could we rally around that instead?
Please stop buying their games. Don't let them get away with this.
that's worst than low framerate and glitches
Its sad to wish failure for the hobby you love but the gamning industry needs a massive wake up call. These companies have lost touch with what gaming is all about and just see it as a way to further increase their pockets with money. The cost model of aaa gaming is unsustainable so they do this. I can't wait for the industry to collapse on itself.

- pre-order bonuses
- release-day embargo
- microtransactions (of up to $100) in a $60 game
Maybe Assassin's Creed Unity is actually a parody of modern AAA gaming.
Pretty much this. I'm afraid of what this means for The Division. I want to play that game, but I'm scared.$99.99 in my $60 game? fuck you

Indeed. This is the kind of thing to conjure a storm over. I can deal with technical problems in games that are otherwise pretty enjoyable. But this shit in a $60 game is beyond deplorable.
It was good to see that the game didn't get a streak of great reviews, but now even those 2.5/5's and 7's are looking to be far too lenient.
It's crazy isn't it.Horse armor feels like such an innocent thing by comparison these days.
It's alright. Indies will save us.The cost model of aaa gaming is unsustainable so they do this. I can't wait for the industry to collapse on itself.
Indeed. This game is basically like the Trojan horse of every horrible game design direction that has been occurring for the past six years
Press F to pay your respects for 9,99 (best deal!)only if you can press f to pay your respects

It actually works better that way. I only ever did Kenway's fleet from the app rather than in game. And just like in AC4, there are rewards for completing the missions. Literally nothing about this is new.
We got Shadow of Mordor and the full version of Lethal League, though, so it wasn't a total loss.
But yeah. Between all the games that got overhyped and the Gamergate insanity, this year has been kind of shit. :/
i don't see why it can't be both. if i'm to spend my $60 i don't want to be nickeled and dimed, nor do i want to be given an unoptimized product
