Final Fantasy Legends: Jiku no Suisho and Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius screens & info

Quick overview of both titles:

Well since there's a thread now I'll do a short write-up for readibility.

The new Final Fantasy Legends game's subtitle is "The Space-Time Crystal", and the main story theme seems to be about magic allowing time travel of sorts, kinda like Chrono Trigger. There will be various different eras and locations in the game, and it will be a story-centric RPG.

The general director for the game is Takashi Tokita, and Naoshi Mizuta is composing the music. The character design and illustrations are by Ryosuke Aiba. There will be new key visuals by Aiba for each story chapter that they plan on releasing monthly, the entire game is f2p and the main story can be completed without paying. Mizuta says the soundtrack with be as comprehensive as a normal retail RPG, with over 50 tracks, and different themes for locations, and world map music, etc. He also mentions a vocal theme song which will tie into the story.

Brave Exvis is by the Brave Frontier developers and looks exactly like it, so I think that's far less interesting, other than the crossover aspect where they'll have new original sprites for tons of FF characters from throughout the series as possible party members. :p

Final Fantasy - Brave Exvius

Doesn't look as awful as i was expecting.

I hope the gameplay isn't overly dumbed down

Really want a mechanically rewarding and interesting mechanical RPG again

FFL seems to be an example of those "phone games that offer a console experience" that they promised earlier this year.

Yes, that definitely seems to be the case. Hopefully it is actually good, and it is successful enough for them to try more stuff. Tokita says that the game is being made from the mindset that they are creators who have worked on the FF series, making a new FF experience. So at least in terms of PR, they're trying to make it sound like they're putting an emphasis on the core experience.

The second one (Frontier) looks better to me

That weapon sprite from Legends is making my brain hurt

Then again that Environment scene with the crystal in Frontier also looks horrible

The enrvironments sure

Characters are OK..... weapons though... maybe would be better to hide them and just let them come out when they swing FF6 style lol
Okay looking at it again Legends weapons do look pretty bad lol. Exvius certainly has that edge. Both games look pretty good though.

I think the graphics are way less important here. One game is going to be an actual RPG where you can walk around, talk to people, select commands for each character in battle, etc. The other game is going to be mostly menu driven with really nice 2D sprite animations for auto-battle garbage. :)

duckroll please be civil.

You're right though.

True but I would really like 2D games to at least match or look better than what they put out over 20 years ago

I mean cmon man

Indeed. Hopefully we'll see Legends in the West (maybe as FF Dimensions 2, who knows).

Will definitely give it a try if it comes.

I think both LOOK good, but I'm only interested in the Dimensions style follow up. Just hope the F2P shit wont ruin it.

They both look nice judging by the artstyles, and FF legends actually sounds like it has some ambition. If it's not free to play there could be hope for that one.

Imagine if free to play didn't exist.
That all the free to play games that are ruined by never ending energy meters and in app purchases were actually free to just be good games to their full potential. One can dream...

The shocking part is they're actually making 100% brand new sprites for this.
That's what I'm excited for. The SNES style sprites of 7-13 characters they made for All The Bravest were cool.

Dimensions interests me, seems they ditched the cheap RPG maker look from the first one. That style was such a turn off that I never played the original dimensions.

The Brave Frontier game would be cool if it didn't revolve around the fremium model BF does. I'd rather pay money for a full game in that style than a freemium gachapon/stamina game. I was having a lot of fun with BF till I hit a big paywall.

Wow, the faces on the sprites are done in the style of their old illustrations.

Though I'm really skeptical at them saying that the game can be completed without paying. I don't know of any free-to-play game from Square-Enix that doesn't total out to a ridiculous amount of money in practice.

Gotta say, not a big fan of the art style, particularly the artwork pieces and the interface buttons/boxes. Reminds me of some F2P card games I've tried with high saturated, hyper-fantasy style artwork all around.

It's an improvement over Dimensions, or whatever it was called, that seemed like a weird-upresed version of the classic games but that's not saying much.

I've softened my solo campaign against all mobile games as of late so I'm a bit more accepting of these games.

Legends is looking pretty interesting and I'm loving the artwork in the screens. Other game? Not so much.

And that's the Brave Exvius's one? Too bad... the artstyle seems a bit more interesting to me :\

I hate smartphone games for the mere fact that it's impossible to muster any enthusiasm for them until information about the business model surfaces. Once it does, typically all hope is lost anyway.

Here's hoping that Jikuu no Suishou is a complete game that can be enjoyed with a single up-front purchase.

The simplistic menu-based gameplay that can be gleamed from the screenshots of Exvius already tells me that it's most likely going to be some stamina-bar, gem-spending nonsense busy work wrapped up in pretty art.

Wow, FF Legends looks better than I thought.

Brave Exvius eh.. didn't like Brave Frontier so probably won't like that one either.

Final Fantasy Legends looks very interesting, going to keep an eye on that, liking the art style.

Dimensions is a pretty damn solid mobile title.

The other one, eh...

FFL looks better than FFBE. The second one looks more like your generic low tier deviant art Korean reject F2P iOS game.

That's what exactly what it is.

Except the reject part.
