Rise of Nations for 3$ on the Steam store or the Injustice @ Bundlestars?

I'm a big RTS fan so the former is right up my alley but the latter would go to my collection to as a stopgap / layover gaming between long RTS playthrough. And I play other games so that I won't get burned out on one genre. I currently stopped playing RPG games since they were the ones I have been playing for the first three quarters of this year. So what should I buy?

Do you only get like $4 pocket change from mummy once a month? Get both.

How can I check which version of Rising Storm I own? I see on Red Orchestra's page that depending on the date you either get Rising Storm full or only with one rifle.
On Rising Storm's storepage it says I do own the game but I can still wishlist it, so I am confused.

Right click on it in your library and click view downloadable content, it should be listed as "Rising Storm/Red Orchestra Multiplayer in your library. I own RS and RO2 Deluxe Edition so it shows these for me.

Red Orchestra 2 - Digital Deluxe DLC
Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad - Single Player
Rising Storm
Rising Storm - Digital Deluxe DLC

Even if you just own RO2 it will still show up as Rising Storm/Red Orchestra 2 in your library, and you can just use the rifleman class on the Rising Storm maps.

so my question is... who upvote games they don't plan playing and what's the point? Oh, I know about free games for voting thingie, but I still find strange that most MMOs and multi only games are greenlit with ease when basically there is oversaturation with those kind of games and seemingly nobody plays those, at large.

Until a couple of months ago Valve was Greenlighting pretty much every game. I doubt it would take more than a few hundred votes and a Greenlight page that doesn't look like a scam (and I'm not sure on that second requirement). People who voted could be interested or it could even be the developers creating multiple accounts (because who will bother to check?). It could even be folks who vote for everything on Greenlight and maybe some who prescribe to the philosophy that there's no harm in voting yes on everything. And of course some people (like those who vote for Grass Simulator) might do it 'for the lulz' because they have the IQ of a cabbage. Then there's the voters who come in from Greenlight bundles that happen twice a week these days.

Alright, so you just play and randomly get stuff which maybe is worth something? Sounds not bad actually. And casual sounds noob-friendly as well.
Those mission are only available with those Mission Packs like the new Vanguard one right? To my shame I have to admit, I bought the last one but never played ( ._.)
I have to get this from the market to have access to missions, right?
Thanks man!

Yup that's one. And yeah, casual modes are pretty noob friendly, at least compared to competitive

So uh, I know this is the steam thread and all. But where can I get Dragon Age Inquisition the cheapest? The cheapest I found is about €36.

It's still about buying games, so... :)

you are sorta wrong in this. There are 2219 games submitted, but only 1357 greenlit, it's still a lot, but not all, no.
OTOH creating multiple accounts to upvote own game? As far as I know, there are a lot of voted needed, not couple of hundreds, I remember this from 100% OJ greenlight process time, I doubt anybody has time or will creating hundreds of accounts for this.

I was more in a train of thought, that maybe there are less voted needed for multi games or something? (><)

Oh thank you so much for these tips! I'll get it from the client then.
Btw the guy in your avi makes me uneasy for some reason.

Oh sweet! Just crafted CSD badge for friend slots and got this.

Didn't know it's worth that much. Nice. Vanguard gonna be cheaper now.

Add Rising Storm to your cart. If you can buy it for yourself, then you only have Red Orchestra 2. If you can only buy it as a gift, then you have both games.

Also, happy birthday WinterDemons!

I'm sure a developer would be suitably motivated to create multiple accounts for this purpose ;)

As for how many votes are needed... maybe it's a couple of thousand instead of a few hundred. The relevant point is that the requirements has dropped drastically over the life of the Greenlight program. If you remember, when Valve first started Greenlighting games, they used to do it with 10-20 games every couple of months. At it's peak they were doing between 50-100 games per month. That's a huge difference.

I don't think there's a lower requirement for multiplayer games. There's no reason for Valve to make that distinction. For some reason, a vast majority of indie multiplayer games just can't pick up any sort of user base on Steam. I remember this game called Loadout that released earlier this year on Steam. Free to play multiplayer game with a cartoon TF2 type visual style. It launched with quite a bit of hype and was pulling in 30k concurrent players in the beginning. Today the game is out of the top 100 most played games and doesn't reach a 1000 concurrent players. People just don't seem to have the time to play anything other than big MP games.

Here's an article you might find interesting (with some numbers) - Getting Your Game Greenlit In 2014

I fear for Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Have no fear. This is vaporware. Ubi has been stringing us along for years.

10 years and it's the same stuff we've seen time and time again tbh. Part of me wants to buy it in HOPE that it'll actually amount to something one day soon, however most of me thinks it'll fade away once the Early Access hype flutters off into the wind.

B-b-but there might be a chance of a decent wrasslin' game in the world today!

I'm not sure this article is correct, I remember someone (from Fruitbat Factory, I think), posting that you need to be in top 30 to be greenlit, or something along these lines. And at least 6000 votes, if article is correct, is no small amount, meaning I still don't understand how those games nobody literally is playing get greenlit all the time.

Oh wow. I won Shadow of Mordor on reddit. That giveaway was posted 5 days ago, I only posted my favorite number and why I would want it. 2 hours ago, PM, I won ?! :D
Now I'm in a dilemma, I still have my GTS 250 in my PC, looked up requirements, it's totally not supported and I wanted to buy a 970 in the future, but not now because I also have to write my bachelor thesis in the next months... Sooo I guess I should sell the game and rebuy it on a later date, no ? Better than to let it rot in my account :(

Today is pretty much the 19th so it's my 20th birthday and one year anniversary on NeoGAF!

It's been around five months since I found the Steam thread and as a result, I gained 750+ games to my Steam library (haven't been able to play much though, why did I have to take seven courses this term OTL). Thank you all for the game recommendations and reviews! I really enjoy my time here! :D

Here's something back. Mostly bundle stuff, but hopefully there's something for everyone.

Also, please be my friend. :)

Happy birthday buddy!

Selling a won prize might be against their rules and result into a ban. Check before you something wrong

Congrats anyway

Rise of Nations is my favorite RTS of all time and the Steam version is great, I highly recommend it.

But you knew all that before entering. Selling it wouldn't be cool imo.

I'll give you 2 keys!

That article seems to be a few months old so it could easily be dealing with outdated information. Valve have constantly loosened the requirements for Greenlight, especially over the last one year.

Don't overthink it. Redeem the game onto your Steam account. Play it when you can :)

750+ games in five months? I don't think I've even heard of so many games in these months :p

Happy birthday and thanks for the great giveaway!!

Ok, so I looked at RS/ROMP's DLC tab and it only shows this:

I got it when it was given away for free so I guess I have the gimped version. Ah well.
Add Rising Storm to your cart. If you can buy it for yourself, then you only have Red Orchestra 2. If you can only buy it as a gift, then you have both games.
Ooh, nice trick. Yep, looks like I am on the only-rifle boat with this one. Wishlist it is.
Thanks peeps.

Casual is absurdly terrible though, I'd recommend playing deathmatch or arms race if you don't feel quite ready to jump into competitive and want to practice aiming with various guns, then check out competitive once you feel ready. Matchmaking will make you play with other beginners after a few calibration games anyway.
I'm on mobile so I can't check right now but the pass is also available for purchase directly from the client, likely for less than on the market.
Yup that's one. And yeah, casual modes are pretty noob friendly, at least compared to competitive
Haha, two wildly different opinions on Casual. I'll just try. Thanks folks.

I wonder how many people didn't buy Far Cry 4 because of the AC: Unity debacle.
That would be unfair though. FC4 seems to be very decent and polished on PC. Ubi does many things I really dislike but black and white thinking ain't good. I know you are not like that, I am just saying to all people.
Btw, how you doin man?

Max Payne 2 is 1 buck and change over at Nuuvem. I loved the Xbox version back in mid-00s, so I'm looking forward to a replay on Steam.
Tempting but I'll wait for a cheap Max Payne Complete bundle with all DLC.

Forty five cents short of being able to buy Pro Wrestling X.

I can help you out. Hit me on steam and I'll send you some cards.
Hope you won't get burned as it looks preeeety early in dev.

But it's only nine-nintey-nine!

Awesome, congrats! I say keep it Kiru my man. Shadownet seemed to enjoy himself plenty with it.
Also, Reddit has giveaways? Care to link/explain, please? I don't do reddit and the site confuses me.
