So we are getting a sequel announcement soon I hope.

I enjoyed the beta, but I would like more content.

Also to be clear ... Are the games that were bundled up for free in the XB1/Kinect bundle counted, or were they "freebees"?
Lmao are you this desperate to make yourself believe Titanfall failed sales wise?

It sold well enough for Respawn/EA to continuously say they are happy with the sales and happy enough to green light a sequel, I don't know how anyone can say that was a flop, if it was a flop we wouldn't be seeing Titanfall 2.

The only way this could even be seen as a flop is possibly by MS, but they haven't said anything and who knows what kind of console sales they were expecting.

Sounds great but I'm going to have to be cynical on this one. Why not quite sales units instead of a number that is easily skewed by second hand copies, sharing with friends, etc not to mention if they're counting everyone who signed up to try it for free on Origin.

I think it did well for s new IP but it seems likely units sold vs say Destiny and other big titles is a comparison they want to duck and I have to assume the worst as to why.

EA doesn't reveal sales number anymore.

No it didn't sell as well as Destiny or CoD or Watch Dogs.

I guess with the Deluxe Edition and this PR statement, they're trying to keep Titanfall in the news, since AW was released, they don't want the game to fall back in the shadows.

I'm waiting for BF to pick this one up to go alongside SO.

I think going X-Box exclusive really hurt this franchise.. No console wars BS, I play where my friends are playing(and I have a PC), but losing every potential PS4 player as a sale and a mouthpiece about has to hurt. And now having to re-earn the interest of people who saw it wasn't on their system and stopped caring, but with way more competition then at initial launch.

I think going exclusive made this game "just another FPS" in the eyes of many rather then "The next big thing" simply because it didn't have enough eyeballs on it.

It's going to be hilarious to see the general opinion of the game change if the sequel is multiplatform.

Well deserved. It's in my top 5 games of all time and it is my most-loved online shooter ever.

I bought it for PC, 360, and just recently, for Xbox One.

As an aside, the 360 game is a technical marvel and likely the product of voodoo magic. It looks and plays absolutely faithful to the other versions.

Yeah Titanfall has easily forced its way into my all time Top 10. The gunplay and movement are just. Perfect.

It needs slide though. Every other shooter has slide except for TF. For a game that's all about fluidity, not having slide is a killer. Sequel needs it.

some of the salt in this thread lol

I know we have a bunch of Respawn guys on GAF, pls stay XB1/PC. I love the salt from Sony fanboys mad that you "ignored" their platform. GAF wouldn't be the same without it

unfortunately for me you can't feed a family with this

It's a wonderful game, so it's good to know it did well. Really sad it never came to Steam; Origin being horrible re: network stuff is why I stopped playing. Was really hard to connect to friends, just gave up. I'd buy another copy if it arrived there with Steamworks MP.

Also was bummed there was no SP. The guys at Respawn made great MP games, sure, but their SP content was legendary. COD4 is still one of my favorite games, period, and I would have loved a Titanfall campaign. Throw in a more fully-fledged horde mode, map selection, and stuff like that would basically make it one of the best games ever.

I tried the free-weekend thing on origin and I didn't like it so I couldn't care less about where the sequel is gonna end.

Wow

Anyway I'm glad it seems to have done well enough. Consider me on board if the sequel has a single player campaign and co-op at launch.

Wow. I made that back when Titanfall was originally announced. Cool to see it come back around.

However, I still will never understand how Respawn created an arena shooter with ADS mechanics. Just will never make sense to me.

oh shit you made that? we used to use it in the Titanfall thread all the time. Still my favorite image

but you fucked up on the As. I think the first one is supposed to have the opening on the left side

Well... It didn't sell too many Xbox Ones though - The seemingly lackluster staying power of the game is really enforcing the 'manufactured hype' sentiment. BF4 for comparison is still going strong payer wise, thought that has been the case with most Battlefield games since BF2

When a game sells really well the publishers always gloat and let everyone and their mother know. When a game underperforms or doesn't sell that well, it's always "It did better than we expected" or "We made this much money from it, but we can't tell you any specifics."

A Disney infinity tea. 🌚

Those are far from unique.

I bought the game twice on XB1 and on sale for PC.

I am sure a lot of other people created unique accounts on multiple platforms and the same platform.

really happy to see this has supposedly sold well for a new IP.

considering all the adversity the team faced during its development, i'm blown away by what a FUN game they've put together.

honestly the most refreshing online FPS experience i've had since CS beta 3.1 back in high-school.

i honestly don't care if this stays PC/XBone exclusive or not, i just hope any potential sequel utilizes a new graphics engine - and a single-player campaign would be nice [though i really don't miss it with how much fun i have playing online anyway].

Blah blah blah. Enough people are playing where I can play all the time. New modes are fun. Gameplay is top-notch.

Love the armchair analysts!

Clarification for those who like to assume:

Titanfall has sold well above expectations, both from to us at Respawn and at EA. I actually don't know if there's been a better new IP release at EA in terms of sales... ever?

EA doesn't release sales numbers anymore. We'd love to release them, but we're not the publisher of the game. This was the best we could do for everyone.

This does not mean 7m sold. This means 7m people have played the game. Yes, this means Destiny and probably Watch Dogs have had more more sales and players. This is not at all surprising, or worthy of shame. Everyone is so supremely proud of the game. More successful than we could have imagined. I could also point out that EA has been on a huge upswing in the market, often attributed partially to how well Titanfall has done.

Alright, thats all I can say. You can go about your normal business of assuming the worst. I've got work to do ;)

Shut down the haters quick with this post.

I guess this includes the 5 accounts each xxxxsniper420xxxx,
Urmomlol, and a$$killa usual players have

Wow this is bottom of the barrel reaching,

"Yeh all those players just have multiple accounts!"

No dude, just stop.

Why can't people accept the game did kinda well enough?

That's pretty damn cynical even after a Respawn devs pops in the clarify some things. Try reading the thread, or even just a few posts up?
Given I said it was surely a success but this was an odd metric and it probably hadn't outperformed the other big new IPs and he essentially confirmed this i feel my post was essentially accurate. Pity I missed his post scanning down as he did clarify the odd metric which is what had me so cynical in the first place: had no idea EA didn't release numbers anymore. Certainly had I spotted his post I wouldn't have been so suspicious about the metric.

Why didn't you pick the season pass up 2 weeks ago when it was $6? I don't get why it needs to be permanent

Because I wasn't playing TitanFall, wasn't looking for it (or anything else in the store), and didn't see it. And TitanFall DLC discounts don't exactly sit on the top of page 1 here either. Pretty simple.

Also, if they want money, they'll make it permanent. It's that simple.

$25 = nope, and I'll play one of my many other games and give no fucks.

$10 = fair deal.

But I have no doubt that i'll be discounted again between now and Christmas. Again, unless they hate money.

The fact that a dev had to come in here and correct naysayers is gross. He shouldn't have to do that. Good for respawn for an awesome achievement and I wish them more to come. No matter how small, this is huge for them. I wasn't a huge fan but I definitely give credit where credit is due. Congrats guys!

Titanfall is the first destiny of this generation

Big name talent coupled with a huge studio, multi player focus and no real single player campaign

Exceeds expectations of cynical gamers and industry folks

I have no idea how much of this is true though

just on paper anyways

Was this ever considered to be a minor project for EA?

From what I've seen, the dlc and the game usually go on sale every few weeks. So between black friday and xmas there should be a chance of the dlc going on sale.

Imo it's well worth the money. I love the maps especially wargames.

Armchair analysis is generally what you get from people not employed in the industry on a public gaming forum man, that's what we all do.

I bought Titanfall along with my Xbone at the beginning of the month and i'd like to say the game is exceptionaly good, infact it is the best and smoothest fps experience i've had for a couple of years. There is a very large problem however.

Sadly all of the talk of 7million this and success that means very little to the people playing your product, i'm lucky if I find more than 3 thousand people online to play with, the game is essentially a ghost town in console fps terms.

All of the pride in selling and people played is kind of put aside for the people wanting to play now when we realise there are games made by your colleagues at respawn that are several years old with active player bases that crush Titanfall.

Consumer am sad.

Ah I see, thought you knew about the sale but refused to buy it because of the "permanent price" part of your post. But yeah, the post didn't stay on the front page for long, even though it was on sale for two weeks I believe.

I'm sure the game and it's DLC will go on sale again, especially now that the "goty" edition of the game is coming out.

It's a joke. Obviously not everyone has 5 accounts. It's also obvious they didn't sell 7 million

Me too. Bought the disc launch day. Then when it went on sale I bought if off the US store for $27AU. sold the disc. I'll probably buy the disc again at some point.

Basically. I guess 7 million is a good pat on the back for EA. Meanwhile in game...

Failed? No, not by any means. I am actually sure it did quite well. And as they say it "did above expectations", so it's probably fine :)

But when you seem to dismiss people with a snark (I wasn't lumped in there) as "Armchair Analysts", the use of spin is not necessarily a good thing, specially when you had large helpings of free giveaways (with the XB1 bundle) to pad your numbers imo.

My comment (granted, probably unecessarily antagonistic, for which I aplogize) was only a reaction to that perceived attitude.
