Damn the trilingual nature of North America between English, French and Spanish...

Hope you enjoy, Aussies/Thieving Europeans! I expect plenty of reviews, and hopefully we in NA at least get the MH4U n3DS model to go with the rest of my deluxe edition pre-order...

This comparison of pixel densities of the 3DS top screens was just posted on Whirlpool for those interested (PPI = pixels per inch):

DS Lite: 102 PPI
O3DS: 132 PPI
O3DS XL: 95 PPI
N3DS XL: 95 PPI
N3DS: 120 PPI

(PSP: 128 PPI
Vita: 220 PPI
iPhone 6: 325 PPI
Nexus 5: 445 PPI
Galaxy Note 4: 515 PPI)

My Game Boy has infinite perceived PPI because I play it from outside of Earth's orbit.

So that video. He's surprised the XL is going faster? It probably hogged all the bandwidth for itself. Silly videomaker.

Edit: I see it was just weirdness going on.

So i'll be picking up my New 3DS XL tomorrow and i wanted to be sure of this.

How exactly do i transfer stuff from my current SD card to a Micro SD card.

Do i copy all the stuff on my current SD card to the micro sd card through my computer and then put the micro sd card into the New XL before doing a system transfer or do i do it after a system transfer?

Or

Do i just put the empty micro sd as is into the New XL and the system transfer will copy everything from the old 3DS SD card to the New XL sd card.

I'm going to go through the transfer process as usual, but when it prompts me to swap SD cards, I'll transfer all the data from the SD to the micro SD via a computer and then put the micro SD back into the new 3DS.

SERIOUSLY THOUGH WHY DOESN'T NINTENDO AUSTRALIA SUPPORT HAVE A GODDAMN EMAIL ADDRESS

They technically do, but it's not advertised on their site.

I have a few questions:
- I have a 64gb micro SD card in my 3DS. When I do a transfer from my 3DS to New 3DS, do I need to buy another 64GB SD card?
- Is there any demo stock of any of the New 3DS systems in Melbourne right now? I'd like to see the new 3DS in particular so I know if the screen size is usable or not.
- Are there any image quality issues with the New 3DS?

So what's the dealio with SD cards? That all gets transferred over right?
You can either transfer everything over via Wifi (Which will take awhile) or just transfer over the licenses and then dump the contents of your current card onto your computer and copy them over to the new card (Much quicker).

If you're using a MicroSD with an adapter in your current 3DS all you need to do is transfer over your NNID and licenses and then take the MicroSD out of your current 3DS and pop it into the New one.

Not sure about the second question.

Not sure what you mean about image quality issues.

Here's a link to the help page about System Transfers with the New 3DS that Nintendo AU sent out with an email today:

I don't think it's very likely there'll be demo versions in stores this year, since stock is so limited.

As far as image quality goes, here's a video showing the n3DS and n3DS XL. They both look good to me:

My apologies for the double post, but I hadn't seen this posted yet - a comprehensive comparison of the new 3DS and new 3DS XL:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_wlUnR8DfDU

He notes that the XL looks like it has a warmer, richer screen with better contrast...but I'm not sure this means much, given that there can be substantial variations in screen warmth between individual models (I ended up returning the first 3DS XL I ever bought the next day because the screen was so yellow).

I really hesitate, i already have a normal EU 3ds, and a japanese 3DS XL model

should i wait for an US new 3ds release so i got the 3 models? (but then i'll always had to buy it from america or canada) or should i just take the AUS model right now (and i still hesitate between normal and xl)

i will buy it eventually, but not sure if it's now or later... what do you think?

If you have an EU 3DS, obviously get an AUS import.

I am glad that I used a microSD card + adapter in my current XL. It will make the transfer even easier! $229 for a new XL is a great price.

well like i said, i hesitate cause if i wait for the US model, i'll get the 3 region and so i'll no longer be bothered with the region locking! But like i said, the inconvenient is that i'll always had to buy some of the game from america or canada, that's why i hesitate

Already ordered mine from Play-Asia and can't wait to get it into my hands! For me it is a NN3DS XL Metallic Black ^^

There will be 20 faceplates available for purchase at launch. The 19 shown above retail for AUD$17.95 and NZD$24.99. The only exception is this one: http://i.minus.com/i0KSoi1izdlvu.jpg
...which is AUD$39.95 for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Maybe it really is made of wood!
If this faceplate is the same as the japanese one, yes it's made of wood.
I already have a japanese New 3DS and I'm one of the European thief waiting for Play-Asia to ship the European model. I used to play on 3DS XL but I choose to buy a standart White 3DS and I really don't regret it.

Here is what I think after ~1 month with my New Nintendo 3DS:

- Love, really love the 3D effect !
- Love the brighter screens.
- Love the OS speed.
- Love the faceplates.
- Love the 4 colors buttons (geek).
- Love the C-stick on MH4G & Smash Bros.
- Love the weight of the standart NN3DS VS the 3DS XL.
- Love the screen resolution (especialy for DS game and ambassador games) on the NN3DS VS 3DS XL.

- Hate the Power button.
- Hate the stylus placement.
- Hate the data transfer for beeing so so long (almost 3 hours).

Photos like that make the wait till tomorrow even harder. Good to hear it was easy to go from the XL to the regular too, as I'll be doing the same thing.

The data transfer issue can be solved by doing the transfer yourself on a computer. Anything like that over WiFi is just gonna be too time consuming.

And I thought the cover plate wasn't wood, from what I'd heard it just has a faux wood texture (Unlike the felt one which is actually felt).

Really wish the New XL had faceplates too. I'd definitely bite if that were the case. But now my choice is move to a smaller screen but have the cool faceplates, or stay at XL but have no faceplates. (Or not move at all!)

It's a toughie.

You cannot transfer data from a New Nintendo 3DS or New Nintendo XL system to a Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS system
So you basically can't downgrade.
Choose wisely.

I also had my doubt about moving from a XL to a Regular one but I really prefer it, and not only for the faceplates.
After 1 month, I really don't regret that I choose a Regular one, and I have difficulties playing on my actual 3DS XL PAL...

I'll certainly use my computer for the data transfer on my upcoming European model.
Yes over wifi it really seems like an eternity and I was scared to loose my connection and broke the transfert but the pikmins did a Great job at the end.

Yes it's real wood, more photos here: http://byuu-world.tumblr.com/post/100683735394/new-nintendo-3ds-wood-coverplate-and-charge-cradle

What is the way to do the over PC transfer? I have a lot of games on my cart. I assume all the licences are on the system itself, and I just do a system transfer with no SD card in?

Oh boy, this looks just totally AWESOME!
Nevertheless I'll go down the road with a NN3DS XL. I have difficulties with viewing the 3D effect and noticed, that the bigger screens make it way easier for me than the small screens of the (N)3DS. I also like the better handling of the device for adult hands and I also prefer the more minimalist style of the XL models.

Nevertheless, if there were faceplates for the XL model as well, I would buy the wooden one in an blink of a eye :)

yeah was wondering too, how the transfer work?

and i'm still hesitating between normal and XL... what the better screen quality? The original XL feeled weird to me, like it's stretched

You do the system transfer for licenses onto your New 3DS (With the card in) and then once that's done you just dump all the data of the old card onto a computer and dump it onto the new card.

Gonna link to this again since it explains all the ways you can do it:

Congratulations, Australians! Have fun with that great portable.

As for the rest of Europe, who knows when we will get it...

Yep. This will take about half an hour in total. If you select the option to transfer everything via the 3DS, it will take up to an entire day. And no, thats not a joke.

It's a bit confusing because it looks like to do the limited its the same process as the full. I want to make sure it does a limited, but not 100% on that process.

Any way to buy it from Spain? I'm thinking of getting it on 365games and then using Borderlinx so they ship it from UK to here, but I don't know.

Yeah, it all depends on how much stuff you have saved on your Sd card. I transferred everything via the 3DS and it only took 30 minutes in total because I have all my games retail and only had some demos and small downloadable games on my SD card.

Btw I hope everyone has a small screwdriver because you won't be able to take out the Micro SD card without one :p.

They do actually have an email address, it's not for consumers though it's only for businesses to contact Nintendo. I have it. (͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖)

Their phone support is excellent.

BAHAHA, really? Here's my experience so far:

"Hello when is <game> available on the eShop?"
"Um... dunno."
"But the release date is tomorrow"
"Yeah probably then."
"What time?"
"I don't know"
"Is this Nintendo I'm speaking to?"
"Yes"

And then it isn't on the eShop until after the weekend. Prufeshonal.

Getting my black N3DS XL tomorrow during my lunch break. Gonna smashs some scrubs once I finish the transfer later that night.

I'm not going to import the New 3DS, I feel really uncompelled to do so, I'm usually champing at the bit to get the latest and greatest but with zero software taking advantage of the new capabilities outside of the 3D sweet spot (which I never had an issue with) and the upgrades being lackluster I'll skip this for the foreseeable future. I'll see how Xenoblade turns out however.

Was wondering what the procedure would be for say getting a AUS system repaired in the UK for prosperity's sake?

You can't. Either you ship it to your friend or you don't repair.

I assume there's a choice between a full transfer or just a license transfer.

Could someone just outline exactly what I need to do again if I want to download Pokemon from the Aus Eshop before doing the system transfer? I don't want to risk loosing anything but really fancy a shiny new game to play on my shiny new machine.
