Should I expect some kind of notification from EB about picking up my preorder? Haven't preordered from them before. Won't be able to go in to get it until around 4:30 after work.

Uhh, no. Just go to the store you preordered and pick it up.
Okay cool, just checking.
Man that glossy finish on XL is hideous. Might have finally pushed me over to getting the regular instead.
Yeah it is pretty awful. I can't do glossy finishes on electronics. It was that, the lack of a White XL and the coloured buttons that sold me on the regular.

damn, it's still 21:29 on the 20th November here in the UK. you crazy australians living in the future, I tell ya

anyhow - my shipping status still hasn't changed to say its left the heathrow sorting office. I don't think I'll receive it tomorrow, unless they suddenly update it at midnight or something - it'll arrive at my house on saturday or monday. Not fussed, still superb delivery speed for an import imo.

New 3DS XL Bundle get!

Was there at 8:30 expecting to be alone but I was wrong. I reckon all the bundles sold out straight away. Get in quick if you want it!

Can't wait to get home and try it out. Will post pics.

The blue XL looks amazing. Best Nintendo handheld yet. This thing looks 100x better in real life.

And it's so comfortable. The clicks on the hinge are so smooth... *will come back with proper impressions*

A great first impression that's for sure. I'm wow'd. Glad I didn't get the regular size.

I arrived at Big W in Newcastle just before 8am to see if there was anyone lining up. Count 3 school kids, nothing to worry about. I walked over to Officeworks, bought a 16GB Mirco SD card and went back to Big W. Cue there now being 15 kids, a group of ordinary shoppers and a few guys in there 20's who seemed to be 3DS buyers. 8:27am, with the doors about to open the staff, detecting a sudden rush of people, yell out that there is to be no running in the store. As the doors open, the entrance is blocked! The staff push out trolleys forcing myself to duck and weave through them. Take that slow school kids!

I am first to reach the game section of the store, but there are no New 3DS! As everyone catches up all the copies of Pokemon are taken nut the 3DS is nowhere to be seen. Enquiring with staff proves fruitless, they state they have plenty in stock. (Sigh, brand confusion Nintendo!) A younger member of staff appears and gives me a nod, he knows what I am after. He retrieves a black N3DSXL, yet forgets the charger and Paper Mario as per the advertised Big W bundle. As me and two other guys wait, I joke about swapping out Sticker Star for any other game. No one laughs.

Suddenly! An elderly couple appear asking about the N3DS! I become an employee of Big W and decide to help them. After explaining the difference between the 3DS, 3DSXL, 2DS and N3DS they simply state they are buying for their grand daughter who asked for Animal Crossing, Zelda and Pokemon. Feeling an urge to make GAF proud, I direct them to all titles and explain that a 3DSXL would work out best. Big W dude appears and finally, I bought my N3DS.

Conclusion? AusGAF'ers should go out and buy the system now, stock is very very low out there. System itself is superb and well worth the upgrade.

Yeah man, that's insane!

I'll have to remember mightyape when I want things on launch day in Aus.

MightyApe doesn't send things quickly to Australia, I can promise you that. The N3DS was an expensively shipped exception for international orders.

Congratulations, you really deserve it!

My screens are both on the warmer side, and matching, so I lucked out there, as that's exactly what I was hoping for!

But does anybody else's a/b/x/or y buttons have slight marks on them? Doesn't bother me at all but it seems tad odd.

Just got my Blue XL. Looks great and feels good. Smash booted up in half the time if even that slow, and the 3D eye tracking thing works like some kind of magic. Got it at Target, was no one else there. I don't need another charger and don't want a mediocre Paper Mario spinoff so I have no interest in the Big W bundle but I guess I'm in the minority. Now I've got to see what a used XL with everything in box except Club Nintendo card is worth...

I have very slight lines on each button if I shine a light on them. They all point in the direction of the button, like the A has a horizontal mark on the right side, X has vertical mark on the top side, etc. Must be something done on purpose I guess. No big deal.

I have a silver DS Lite, and the glossiness is great. It's not smudge-able like white, and it doesn't show fingerprints, like black. If N3DS XL ever gets that finish, I'll get it.

Picked up the white 3ds and a cradle. I couldn't say no to the super famicom buttons and faceplates. The XL looks hot though.

Mine has arrived and is prepped. Just charging now.

The 3D, screens, sound and UI responsiveness are all fantastic, but it's still a massive pain in the ass to hold for people with big hands.

I'm gonna need a good grip for it. Anyone got some recommendations?

Got my n3ds and alpha sapphire with the target price match so I saved 30 bucks altogether.

Not bad if I do say so myself. Though that essentially just brought things down to US prices.

Definitely smaller than my xl but my god I'm so glad that the screen doesn't look like utter shit now.

I'm gonna need a shot of that wooden Smash Bros cover in the wild. In theory, it's amazing. In reality, on a white DS, I'm gonna need some reassurance.

Eeee, I've got my white n3DS! It's a beauty of a system - it feels much, much sturdier than the old 3DS (and even 3DS XL). I haven't actually switched it on yet, since I'm charging it up fully first.

Was at Big W when the doors opened at 8.30am, couple of schoolkids were there for Pokemon ORAS.

Got the Black XL, absolutely gorgeous, and the system transfer from my old one went smoothly.

Only problem is you have to unscrew the back to get to the micro SD, so had to go to a hardware store to buy a mini screwdriver. Put my 32GB bad boy in there.

Now Gaf, should I buy Pokemon Omega Ruby from Target to seal the deal?!

So Big W has the N3DS with Animal Crossing for $197 tomorrow.

Can't decide between that and the XL bundle.

It's $50 more for XL, Charger, and Paper Mario, which is a pretty good deal if you want to upsize.
I'm not sure I do want to upsize. And it's a very good deal, the Animal Crossing one.

So as a previous XL owner, how is the smaller one again?

I'm trying to decide!

Yep pretty much the same as this, picked up the Black XL bundle from Big W at opening time. Patiently waited a bit over 2.5 hours for the system to fully charge while playing Sapphire on my OG 3DS before the transfer. Luckily I had the screw driver that came with the Wii U extended battery to do the SD card swap.

Got a regular white one from big w. Screen is plenty big enough for me. Feels really nice too. First experience with a 3DS. got Mario 3D land, and the 3d effect is excellent for the levels where you are really high and looking down.

I preordered a regular N3DS at EB (due to a small fear of AU getting short stocked) a while back. When Target announced their price i emailed EB to see if they'd price match on the day i pick it up - they replied "We can't price match on preorders, since it's not out". Well, that wasn't what I asked, and seems like they were just trying to deter me from asking on the day, since when i did, they matched to Big W's $198 with no hassle!

Won't get to try it out properly till tonight but just going over the design/feel & build quality, i'm happy they seem to have finally got it back up to DS lite/ DSi standard. I swear if their next system design is a downgrade from this i will be pissed!
