TitanFall PC - $5

The community seems to be alive and kicking on the Xbox One though. Is it really that barren on PC?

look at page 5 first post for the ultimate answer.

And that is not that strange, because there is little else to play on xbox one (30 titles total to choose from?) and hundreds of better games to play on pc...

For $5 I really think it is a no-brainer to at least give the game a try. If you don't like it then you haven't spent a lot.

The diskspace is the bigger problem of the two.

I really wish they made a option to play offline against bots in these games. I know that most people don`t care about this, but it would add much more value to the game. The developers of Evolve gets that.

Well you know what they say about opinions...

And besides, how many RECENT shooters can go toe to toe with Titanfall?

The people on here equating Titanfall to COD with Titans actually don't get Titanfall at all.

Yeah, I would never think of playing COD online as it just doesn't seem interesting. That is a game I don't get.

Titanfall mixes on-foot combat with titans so well.

You can spot the players that play like COD as they are usually pretty easy to pick off. Mastering the traversal and titans is what sets the game apart and players apart.

that's not an opinion. there are thousands of games playable on pc, hundreds of those are better than titanfall. Hence the empty community on pc. That is just 1+1=2

Err no. That is an opinion. What you think is better than another game is an opinion. Its not a statement of fact.

I like First Person shooters, I like mechs, I like games with vertical gameplay. Does it make me a bad person if, even at $5 or 10€, I still have no interest in this game?

You make it sound like it takes skill?

You run along walls, you try to tell which characters are actually human players and not 'we were too lazy to boost the player count" a. I. Bots and then zip line, wall bounce to another terrain.

It's not rocket science

Now let's talk about the lack of common sense on behalf of developers.

Your main attraction to this game is the traversal, the titans aren't that amazing but the traversal is, so you would think 'pilot hunter mode' would be a pilot only mode, Lolnope it's just attrition again basically. (I know they eventually added this mode and a horde mode 8 months later, but it was 8 months too late)

2nd.....bots...why do we have Bots? Boost the player count and cap the Titan limit to 12 on screen at once, it would work and be a lot more enjoyable.

Battlefield takes more strategy to win than a match of Titanfall

I did not reference strategy any where and I am aware of Battlefield needing more. Battlefield is also not rocket science. But it is pretty dull. In my opinion of course.

A decent player in Titanfall can wall run and keep moving at speed and take out players (human). Of course it takes some level of skill to do. And I don't mean with bloody aim assist on a controller.

I like the game and I have said what the strengths are in my experience. Now if you don't like that then fine.

The Titans are a genuinely great addition to the game. Its not just about traversal. The titans instantly switch up the flow of the gameplay to a more cerebral affair.

The Titans, with the 3 variations, their distinctive weapons and the Titan abilities, it all adds great depth to the game.

For instance, you're commanding a Stryder Titan which is nimble yet weaker. Now you're going up against an Ogre. You have the railgun, and the Ogre has, I dunno, a machine gun. You have to think about fighting in range, because it takes time to power of the railgun to deal hard damage. But you also have armour abilities. If you equipped the shield you can confront the Ogre more and use the shield to reflect that chip damage. If you have electric smoke, you can try and out-maneuver the Ogre and use the smoke to cover yourself. Or if you had that one way shield you could give him a headache from afar. THen you have the secondary Titan weapon.....

Then take into account all of this with multiple Titans, and pilots flying around you etc.

You say Battlefield requires more tactics, but what recent shooter imports this kind of depth to the traditional run and gun element in an arena based, 6v6 setting? Nothing that I can imagine.

Titanfall melds the more modern twitch based run and gun gameplay made popular with COD: MW and adds elements in arena shooters like Quake 3 arena in terms of health management and longer more drawn out and cerebral encounters.

This is why when people make sweeping generalisations about Titanfall and describe it as COD with mechs, it just strikes me as someone who simply doesn't get the game.

As for the bots, they are good addition to the game I think. Treat them like mobs not actual A.I opponents. They just need to be made more distinguishable from actual Pilots in terms of visual style.

Well said Septic360. A much better and well-thought out reply than mine.

I don't get why some posters are fighting a fight to rubbish the game; if you don't like it then fine but stop going on at people that are being positive. The shot back at my post seemed pointless but if you got to get it out then...

It is cheap and is worth a try. If you don't like it then so be it.

I am not spending my time ballsing around in game threads of games I don't like.

Respawn stated that the traversal mechanic made it very hard for them to program functional AI bots so it was not on their priority list.

Which game is better than which is an optinion for sure.

As for which online games are more popular - I.e. active - that's pretty obvious from player count and on PC, for whatever reasons, TitanFall is fairly low down the list.

I'd still rate it as active enough to give it a shot, but there's no denying its not hugely popular on PCI next to other games with higher and more active online populations.

Well....I did tantalize the possibility of Titanfall as the only EA games I would get and do so at a bargain pin price....

Ok, they won't verify my card for some reason..whatever.

lol. on this page: people who've not played the game more than 5 minutes compare the game to Call of Duty, while simultaneously suggesting that the parkour element isn't particularly important and/or requires little to no skill to execute.

Is this real life? fuck outta here.

Are any of you up for some multiplayer? We could add each other on Origin?

I just completed the training for the 2nd time and it's AWESOME.

Can't wait to try out the multiplayer.

Im hooked, havent had this much fun with a multi-shooter since Battlefield BC 2, now I need to convience my friends to buy it.

I almost returned it too, couldnt get into games at all, but it finally fixed itself.

How much can you get out of the $5 base game right now without the DLC - is not having the map packs going to make it hard to play online?

edit: I guess I'm asking if it makes more sense to buy the deluxe edition if the DLC is important for online..

Just played it again on Xbox One since Halo still isn't working for me.

And it's still amazing. Feel free to add me to join in on the fun (GT same as username)!

they just had a trailer out of all the updates they made since launch and said they have 7 million unique player base. i'm pretty sure it's combined with pc and xbox one player base, but still, that's a lot. at least for a first aaa mp title to hit the market for new gen consoles.

Aww yiss, bought so hard. Playing the free days was essentially enough to convince me already but this is a steal. Best FPS I played since the original CoD

EVERYONE should buy this. You get the year's most innovative and fun shooter for a fucking steal. It's incredibly sad that the community has lowered in count due to it being released exclusively on Origin and lacking features and modes they added later. But between that and having the game not be released at all, it was goddamned justified.

Titanfall 2 is going to be legendary. BUT SELL IT ON STEAM.

It's not just a matter of stores. TF is a game designed around consoles (look at how controller-friendly it is) and console's business model. It was a multiplayer only shooter sold at full price with expensive DLCs when the most popular PC shooters are either free or super cheap, and geared towards the competitive crowd (Battlefield is the only exception I can think of, but it's a franchise that has a big history on PC). It was clear from the start that PC gamers would've ignored it. And I don't think things will change with TF2.

I should learn my lesson, the mega discounted Multi-shooters are always my favorite, paid full price for both Battlefield 3 and 4 and hated them.

Paid $7 for BC 2 and now $5 for Titanfall, amazingly fun shooters.

Is it possible to change from cloud storage back to local?

I had a few game disconnects (right as I was loading into the match) and finally had a synch error

Gameplay is crazy fun for the games I did get into

We only use your synched cloud storage for a few local options (like gamepad config), but your actual progress (XP, levels, unlocks, challenges, etc) are all kept in server storage which should be much more stable. So theoretically you could pull the power cord on your PC mid-game, log in with another PC, and have all your progress intact.

So don't stress much about your Origin client synching, nothing vital can be lost.

thanks!

edit: got the message again then clicked "ok: and now the game will not launch. Even from Origin "Play" is not selectable. Turned off cloud save and restored last save but no dice

running the app gives an hourglass for bout 1 sec but the titanfall.exe process appears for that 1 sec in taskmanager and then dissappears
I'm liking the game but am not redownloading it :p

edit 2: nvm it was an origin sychning issue, restarting client worked

Hey, just wondering why sometimes the game refuses to connect after loading, get "Server Desync", is it related to server load?

Really wonder if I should grab this, though choice :(

I would normally just buy it for $5 but I already picked up a bunch of games and there's a chance I'll pick up a few more with the crazy deals we're getting

Game is pretty fun after playing a few matches
