I don't remember if this was mentioned before and I've just forgotten but here's a little bit of trivia that might be of interest to some.
It seems Matthew Sweet was a fan of anime or at least maybe Urusei Yatsura and Space Adventure Cobra anyway.

-There's footage of Urusei Yatsura in the music video for I've Been Waiting.

-You can see a brief cameo of a Lum key-chain in the video for Ugly Truth Rock. (The quality isn't as good at only 240p but you can definitely see her at 2:56)

-There seems to be another very brief cameo of Lum at the beginning of the video to Sick of Myself. It looks like some artwork of her in the picture to the right on the wall.

-Footage of Space Adventure Cobra appears in the music video to Girlfriend.

Horror is a very hard genre to do. It requires a level of nuance that most anime directors/staff are incapable of. While we might occasionally get an episode or a series of episodes like the ones in Brave New World, I can't for the longest time think of a straight horror series that was any good at all.

Hell we barely get any good psychological thrillers nowadays.
It's weird that anime doesn't really have a defining horror series in it. It's something I want to see, but I don't know how I want to see it since it hasn't really been done. Serial Experiments Lain is pretty damn close. I eat up that bizarre, otherworldly atmosphere. I bet directors with a penchant for atmosphere could make a really effective horror, like Oshii or Morimoto. I guess Kon is pretty much the closest with Paranoia Agent and Perfect Blue.

Hah. That's pretty funny. Though I don't know exactly how it works, I can't imagine he had expressed permission to use that footage.

Chaika AB 8

In the consant struggle of "is this good pacing and I'm just used to shit pacing, or is this pacing too fast" I think this episode leaned far too much to the "too fast" side of the scale. We get resolution with Red Chaika, brain washed Gillette sub plot, explanation of Hartgen and his plan, along with multiple action sequences. While not as bad as InuYasha Final Act it really feels like this episode should have been spread out over 2-3 episodes instead of having all the information and action scenes rushed though. Every battle in this episode felt rushed and all the final results didn't feel earned at all due to how short each individual battle was.

Grisaia 9
That sped along and escalated rather quickly. Funny how I don't really like any of the cast though I can hate an antagonist like intended

Terraformars 10

Adolf's last stand should have been like an episode shorter, it just went on and on and on to the point that the impact it had was largely lost. Also why in the heck was Eva at all hyped to be a main character? She literally did nothing up until this episode and her crowning moment was
to awkwardly punch a terraformar then to die with the man she loved as his body exploded
.

At least we finally got to move onto a different group and see some more fighting, though at this point we've kind of been stuck in nothing but shonen battles for awhile and I need some kind of plot development that isn't lots of good guys dying.

I've actually been thinking how many good horror anime are there period and Paranoia Agent is the only only one popping up in my mind. I can think of other series which have very good horror elements initially but turn into psychological thrillers later. Berserk is definitely one. Another is Blue Gender. Very few anime start and stay a horror work.

Boogiepop Phantom?

I just really don't get otaku market sometimes. While anime adaption of SAO is bad too at least I can somewhat see why it's popular. Anime adaption of Madoka was just so fucking boring. How in the hell it gave growth to LN sales. Mindfuck.

More question is why Japan like Mahouka LN at first.
Really fucking lame LN seriously.

I'm okay with the ending of the tree arc. Lots of stuff to be wrapped up - including how the tree came to be, and exactly who Moonlight Knight was. Bit of a roundabout way to get to the status quo, but the arc did serve as one of the more daily life-ish ones in SM, and gave us the infamous "TALENT" moment, so it was worth it. As for Chibiusa... she has guns and sedatives despite being so young, and knows how to use them. She's not quite as bad in the Japanese version as I remember her dub self, but I need more time to get to know her. The same goes for the new gaudy group of baddies that are attacking.

If anything I think that would lead MORE to the conclusion that it was changed. If Annasui was originally conceived to be the main love interest when Araki was planning out part 6 in his mind then his later actions make sense. First he introduced her into the plot as a female, then had the character vanish, finally had her come back as a male/main character/love interest. There's no way to know if the editors themselves forced him to make the switch or if Araki himself changed his mind and changed it from a lesbian to a heterosexual relationship to avoid getting flak from the editors/audience. If there wasn't a change there would be no reason to change the gender of the original character, you could have just introduced a new character to be the love interest ala Suzi from part 2.

Well, I've never thought of it like that. It's possible, but (minor JoJo spoilers)

In Part 7 there's a lesbian scene. I know by that point it's a seinen but still. There's also a few scenes with Dio and Pucci that probably raised a few eyebrows. I also recall some Part 6 scenes being suggestive. The first couple of chapters are Jolyne talking about masturbation with the other inmates, even

And I feel like "the editors" get a lot of the blame for decisions (The Editors told Kishimoto to have Sasuke live on the bridge! It was them!) but I'm not sure how true that actually ever ends up being. All in all I think the best explanation is the most obvious one - Araki did it just because he felt like it.

Jotaro still looks pretty good.

But that Cars man.

Chibiusa doesn't really improve until later seasons, so yea.

Wait, there's characters named Adolf and Eva? That has to be intentional.

Oh, it's on now. Hatoko continues her campaign to wrest Best Girl (and winner) status from Tomoyo, Sayumi has an in-universe shipper, and Chifuyu is adorable (and has no chance). Ready...fight. Also, something something, plot and Andou's awakened power seems like it might actually not be a joke.

Sailor Moon R 13-14

End of the Makai Tree arc was kind of rushed, but acceptable. I watched episode 13 and wondered again why I dropped the series not that deep into R way back in the Toonami days. Then the Black Moon arc started up and I remembered why: the demon child. I don't think I ever got to her motivations, even though I know her true identity (not that they bother hiding it), but I don't especially care. Wow what a monster...
reminds me of that saying that your kids will be worse than you were.

On one hand, this is a beach ep which is a bad thing.
On the other, it's a Perrine ep which is a good thing.

It was amusing how they subverted the usual formula at least by dealing with the neuroi first thing so they could play screw off the rest. Pretty good gag ep in the end.

Oh so that's the "battle" this title is referring to!

Episode 7 must have been a major trigger cause Hatoko is in full Rex Grossman-style FIIGD mode.

I have so many questions in this episode... but they will probably give the wildest answers in the next one.

Log Horizon S2
An episode on

's humility, how quaint.

Terraformars 10
Man that was a sad episode. But theres no time to grieve when the budget kicks in at the end.
Also, that Keiji guy sounds familiar...
Is that you Jotaro?

Psycho Pass 2 Ep 8

Watching the episode, one of the revelations at the end was pretty obvious
granny being Togane's mom
while the rest explains perfectly why he was put in the team and now I fear even more for Akane.
I feel pity for the noob inspector. Her jealousy and rookie skills brought here there. If she wasn't such a huge hater just because Akane is able to handle stuff in a way no one else can, she wouldn't have gotten into that mess.
I'm also worried because I'm sure
she's gonna get used in some way to try and ruin Akane's clean psycho-pass. I just hope they won't use her to do something to Akane's granny.

Damn, this show finally delivers some heavy backstory on C.C. Shit was pretty nuts.

So does C.C.'s Geass power before she became C.C. the Geass Giver imply that Geass grants you a form of what you wish for the most? Would make sense in Lelouch's case; guy sure does seem to love bossing people around, but I wonder how that would explain the Emperor's powers. Maybe he lived a super fucked up life and wanted to able to forget it all? May explain why he's such a tyrannical dick.

Yay, friendship and healing. Really enjoyable right from the start with the interesting camera perspective when introducing the main character Aoi, as well as the really good animation. Beyond being cute, the production and direction are pretty top notch. Yeah I like it.

gdgd Fairies S2 1

Lol that they start with an apology for the first season and can't even handle that well. But yeah same OP and everything...some good memories are coming back to me. Awww@ them trying to say deja vu. Aw@ anything they say though, especially ad-libbed, so whatever it's still the good stuff.

First off: fuck what this show did to C.C.

Other than that, okay the emperor's still alive and he's back, okay. And Lelouch and Suzaku are headed for a showdown.

And even though she's left the school, Milly is still awesome. Penguins.

So how good is Yowamushi pedal the anime? Is it worth giving a shot because I've been looking for another sports anime since watching Haikyuu.

Just finishing up Fate / Zero and watched the fight between Iskandar and Gilgamesh. Rider has become one of my most liked anime characters ever. This whole series I've not really found myself caring about Saber and Kiritsugu, and much more interested in Rider and Waver.

3cIU9im.jpg

I thought Kiritsugu was a really well-done character, but Rider easily stole the whole show for me as well. His scene in episode 11 where
he unveils his Noble Phantasm is one of my favourite moments in the whole show. So good.

Tessa sucks.

Well Tessa is the best.

I don't know who to believe here. Oh wait a minute, yes I do! #Cajuntruth.

Did you lose a bet?

Mike doesn't lose bets. He only makes them.
