I think after getting over how bad this game is being (or not being) represented by the studio/company, I do have a soft spot for third person shooters so I'm cautiously excited for this, especially if it creates an interesting and unique setting with decent characters. I just hope the gunplay and encounters are fun.

Spoke to 3 more people who played it yesterday and they all loved it! None of them were too enthusiastic about the game before they played it yesterday.

Can't wait. Morpheus, this game and drawn to death are the major items for me today. Doors open in 30
Looking forward to reading your impressions.

The next Generation of Gaming truly kicks off in 2015. Wow. Thank God I have Dragon Age to kill some time with before This and The Witcher kick off the year...then it's just killing time until May for Avengers and June for Batman

I don't know why there's so much negativity surrounding this game, I think yesterday's presentation was quite good and the setting is awesome. It may not be the best shooter ever but I think it still looks pretty good.

Also, I really liked the shotgun so I must get it :)

Let me get this straight; they show a 2 minute gameplay segment for the keynote that is underwhelming to say the least, then have an extended demo on the showfloor that isn't publicly available that is totally awesome, according to people who bought tickets and went all the way out to this Sony event in Vegas? Riiiight.

Every showing for this game has been cagey as hell and has displayed a considerable amount of hesitation on the part of the devs/pubs to just show what the game really is all about.

Fucking amazing. Did you even read what you just wrote? Pretty damn offensive.

I'm not too worried about instafail affecting the overall reception of the game. Hasn't Assassin's Creed had instafail in every game? It's a nitpick with it but it never seemed to hurt that series appeal

as i said, if the story calls for it then so be it.

if the story requires the knights to be sneaking then have them sneak around.

you get this a lot in movies and books. character sneaks around, gets caught, fight ensues. i don't see any problem with it. even the mgs games, no matter how open ended the mission design, forces you to be stealthy in a lot of missions and they tell you why it would make sense story-wise to be stealthy.

no, i do not want a deus ex approach to every tps or every game. level design is also compromised for having to accommodate two playstyles sometimes and it feels more "gamey" and less organic that way. that could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Because the demo is entirely unfinished and likely fills up an entire blu ray. Lots of these demos are unfinished, un optimized, and have someone on standby to reset the demo in case anything goes wrong. An event demo is very different from a public release demo.

It's good enough and they are confident enough to let regular people loose on the demo. So its good enough to be packaged as a downloadable demo. Bugs or crashes are not really relevant for the purpose of this and in any case you know what you're getting in to.

There's really no reason not to have every game that gets a playable demo on a show-floor up for download.

Can somebody ask one of the devs how long the game is? Like how many hours to complete. Already have it preordered on psn. Can't wait. I personally don't want to see too much.

yeah, no. play the dozens of games that have short lines. morpheus will be in stores before it comes out, and it will be the final version no less.

Morpheus has a reservation system. So I I'm free to roam around for the next 2.5 hours. Now I'm stuck in the line for order. Wondering what I should do

Its good enough for them to display it in a highly controlled environment where they are standing by to observe you play. That does not equal the game being WW demo ready. Its so odd that we have to explain this here of all places.

Point somewhere and scream "OH MY GOD THERES THE UNCHARTED 4 DEMO" and when everyone runs over there you can walk up to the front. :p

Okay serious question, no hyperbole intended. How are they getting the image to look that good and seamless? What techniques are they using? That gif where he pulls out that strange device is tripping me out right now. It's without flaw, seriously. The blur in the background, the color, the grain, man it's just stunning.

As much as I would love to play this demo too, you are completely wrong. Most people would download the demo, see bugs and think the game sucks. On a showfloor people are more aware of the game's advancements, and have staff next to them that can explain them the eventual bugs, can reboot the failed demos etc.

think they do like twenty gazillion types of post procesing to the image ... reagameplay questions whatever they may be i think we can all agree they pulled off the "cinematic" look they were looking for in spades.

They use 4xMSAA combined with a custom solution to deal with shader aliasing, hence the lack of jaggies. On top of that the lighting is all physically based, meaning it reacts correctly to the materials objects are composed of. Combine all that with excellent post effects and it has a very striking impact.

befriend the people beside you and ask them to reserve your spot. just lie and tell them you have to go somewhere for a while. washroom and the washroom was full.

That's not what i would call 'highly controlled'. They are standing there in case of a bug that prevents progress or crashes. I wouldn't have any issue with them offering the demo as-is and just have a 'reset demo' menu option if you encounter glitches.

If it's good enough to be playable at the showfloor then it's good enough for me to appreciate if they were to offer that same demo shortly after the event concludes.

So still nothing on YouTube or gamersyde ?
I'm waiting for this game, but i don't understand why Sony hidding it so much!
The order deserves a better communication.

they had to make room in the conference for square enix to unveil ff7. ahaha.

most likely that is true though, which is sad.

Many are in line just to get the cards. Line is moving fast. Eta 2.5 hours. Probably even sooner. Gonna use this time to flesh out impressions on yesterday...

I'm actually surprised that they've stuck it out with MSAA. That form of AA seems to be a thing of the past this generation with developers moving on toward cheaper forms of AA. Not that i'm complaining since it's obviously preferable to other AA. But it's still surprising since it's quite expensive compared to the others.

The amount of people who would be able to go "yeah, this is not a finished build and will probably be better in the retail game" is probably a very small pool of people.

Normal people, those who don't go to forums and doesn't give a shit about the industry would see it as a bad game and it's not a smart move. If you go public, you go public with the absolute best you got.

A broken demo would in the hardcore world give so much gif material for misinformation and general stupidity. It would be a stupid marketing disaster unless the demo build is rock solid.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Here is the text from the actual IGN interview against your "conclusions":

[*]There are standard collectibles (e.g., newspapers). You can read them. Yay?

"These collectibles are wonderfully detailed and can be fully examined, front-and-back. It was cool to read a piece of the newspaper's front page, and flip over a piece of paper to see a government stamp adorning it. Little touches like these make the world of The Order feel more lived in, more realistic."

[*]There are multiple guns. The ones you expect.

"Getting to use a wide array of firearms -- sniper rifles, pistols, machineguns, and the like -- showed-off a diverse, yet familiar arsenal... I enjoyed toggling between firearms, blasting fools from up close with the spray of a shotgun, taking shots from safety with a scoped sniper rifle, and then cleaning up with the spitfire of an automatic weapon."

[*]When you shoot dudes in the head they don't seem to die.

"Enemies seemed a bit spongy to me, especially when I used my pistol (some enemies wouldn't even die when I shot them in the head), but I found combat to be satisfying."

[*]Pots go flying when shooting them in the kitchen.

"One especially cool battle took place in a kitchen, with copper pots and pans hanging all over the place, awaiting their next use. As enemies hid behind stoves, ovens, and counters, those pots and pans went flying as they became casualties of a brutal and violent battle between rebel forces and The Order."

[*]You can't really explore but it did look nice.

"The zeppelin, named Agamemnon, is vast, and there's a ton of space to explore. Everything is delivered linearly -- there are no alternate routes or choices to be made -- yet I felt a true sense of exploration as I poked my head into rooms and around corners, waiting to see what was next... I had a lot of fun exploring, even if I wasn't choosing where to go next, and even if I did have to grapple with unfortunate QTEs, particularly in the cockpit of the zeppelin."

[*]QTEs sucked.

"Stealth kills aren't difficult to execute (though the AI is a bit wonky), and they aren't achieved simply by moving behind an enemy and hitting a certain button. Rather, you have to time your stab with an on-screen, QTE-like prompt. I especially dug how as I drew towards my targets, my character slowly reaches for his blade, as if he knows exactly what's going to happen. That was a very nice -- albeit small -- touch.

Wow thanks for following up with this. I would have believed thumb if you didn't.

A while back Pessino made it sound like 4xMSAA is what they were able to cram in thanks to the lessened load of the black bars.
