I agree that people have blind faith in the WiiU but I don't see Zelda having much problem reaching 1.5 million unites next year. Only deep price cuts are gonna move units and they simply don't have games releasing on their system so there is little point to deep cuts since it won't spur software sales.

Agreed, I plan on finally purchasing a WiiU because of the new Zelda. I was holding out because nothing else interested me but my wife is dying to play Bayo 2.

360/PS3 could have also fallen off an even further cliff in comparison to last year to account for some of the hardware drop, unless I'm missing an announced sales number for them. The 360 did ~647k last year, and I can't imagine it did anywhere close to that with all of the current gen hype + next to no good advertised 360/PS3 sales this black friday.

Well didn't Walmart have the $99 360's. But whatever, obviously sales are gonna be way down for the 360 and the PS3. They are super old consoles and new ones have released.

First it was China... Then the UK... And now good ole North America has stepped into the light and made the Xbox One the best selling console. Plastered all over Microsoft's hallways are "We're Number One!l posters, no doubt.

Which territory is next? Germany, perhaps? Japan?

While Sony takes its eye off the prize and is distracted by the hackgate fallout, Microsoft adeptly swoops in to take its spot at the top of the mountain. The Xbox ecosystem couldn't be healthier what with next generation consoles ahead of last gen by 80% and with the Xbox 360 quite possibly overtaking Wii as the top selling console of last generation in the coming years.

The history books will be rewritten... This time, with green ink.
Your posts always make for a good laugh.

Haha, now I know for sure you are trolling. When did you go from being an obvious MS obsessee to just a sarcastic troll? Seems almost like your account is possessed by someone else now.

I'm not buying the CBOAT bait.

There is only 1 number for the difference, so a reliable source wouldn't be a range. It's not like only 1 person knows the number, so you can't say it is masking a source or some shit.

Shows up to downplay any positive xbox news. Not a surprise.

Need more reliable evidence.

We dont get numbers anymore, because apparently NPD is cracking down on leaks. And because Aqua wasnt impressed with the traffic Gaf was getting just for leaks. So yes itd be a very good idea to give this range around the numbers. All the same, we may never know. I dunno if Octobers numbers were ever eventually leaked well after the fact.

7-10k dif

Deep down I wanted a PS4 and knew that, but still came within feet or inches of buying an Xbone on three seperate occasions: The $329 w /Kinect and any two games deal, the $329 AC Bundle + $50 gift card deal, and that $329 w/MCC & a $30 gift card deal. The sales were fucking insane. Phil Spencer was all but out in the cold dressed like Nino Brown passing Xboxes out like holiday turkeys.

If it is that as close as CBOAT says I imagine the lack of Sony press release is due to them marching down to NPD HQ to demand a recount just to be sure. Checking for hanging chads n stuff

Honestly expected to see the PS4 take the month, so I'm not very surprised at how close the difference is.

Good for MS for doing what it takes to regain mindshare, but it's a damning indictment of how difficult it's been for them to drum up demand for the XB1.

1.2 million in US for both seems rather implausible.

Highest is 2.024m or ~1.012 million for each.
Road did a different calc (that matches up with my own better)
"Cumulative PS4 & Xbox One sales are now almost 80 percent higher than the combined total of PS3 and Xbox 360 sales after 13 months..." -NPD

Using 75% as the minimum increase and 80% as the maximum.

PS4 + Xbox One ranges from 1.79 million to 2.09 million.
It still makes the 1.2M impossible for just the US unless they're much further apart.

Well I would expect meltdowns even if the Xbone wins but only by some insignificant number like 20k or something. Not going to happen though. The Xbone is likely going to cut about 50% of that US lead all in one month. That's how ridiculous those sales were paired with all the high quality exclusives.

Kagari just tweeted Xbone won by 10k only... I'm guessing joke tweet?

The fact remains that this was the first game of the regular season and xbox eked out a victory in overtime. You guys can rationalize all you want but it doesn't change the fact that Xbox is now 1-0 and Playstation is 0-1.

Jomjom pls.

So that begs the question...what was the U.S. only numbers? 0_0

Those aren't freely given out anymore.

We have folks here who have access to that info and they'll usually guide us to proper numbers.

Come back in about 5-6 hours, that's when it gets really fun :D

About those PS3 and 360 sales, I think I got them, just by searching a bit

Sales first 13 months

Xbox 360
Nov. 2005 ~ 326.0k
Dec. 2005 ~ 280.0k
Jan. 2006 ~ 249.0k
Feb. 2006 ~ 161.0k
Mar. 2006 ~ 192.0k
Apr. 2006 ~ 295.4k
May. 2006 ~ 220.9k
Jun. 2006 ~ 277.0k
Jul. 2006 ~ 206.0k
Aug. 2006 ~ 204.0k
Sep. 2006 ~ 259.5k
Oct. 2006 ~ 218.0k
Nov. 2006 ~ 511.0K

Total ~ 3,399.8K

PS3
Nov. 2006 ~ 197.0k
Dec. 2006 ~ 490.7k
Jan. 2007 ~ 244.0k
Feb. 2007 ~ 127.0k
Mar. 2007 ~ 130.0k
Apr. 2007 ~ 82k
May. 2007~ 82k
Jun. 2007 ~ 98.5k
Jul. 2007 ~ 159.0k
Aug. 2007 ~ 130.6k
Sep. 2007 ~ 119.4k
Oct. 2007 ~ 121.0k
Nov. 2007 ~ 466.0K

Total ~ 2,447.2K

PS3 + 360 first 13 months total ~ 5847K

Almost 80% increase = between 75% and 80%

So, PS4 + One first 13 months total ~ 10,232.25 < x < 10,524.6

PS4 + One first 12 months total ~ 8,500

PS4 + One November, then, ~ 1,732.25 < x < 2,024.6

EDIT: I'd tend to be wary of estimates with both consoles over 1 million. Not for anything, but because, if that were the case, MS would have certainly said that in their PR, where no number was said at all.

So PS4 max 850k

Just curious is there an actual source other than CBOAT as to the 7-10k difference ?

Not so far but considering factors like no full PR, no boasting from MS execs and mentioning UK in NPD it couldn't be too far out otherwise MS would be boasting like they do when they or other company would when you win "big".

Edit -

I love cboat, but in this case he is not correct.

Well then.... still think the difference isn't huge because of the above.

Beautiful.

If the 1.2 mil is a US number, and sony was only 7-10k behind that, that's one hell of a November sales.

That it was that close with a $70 gap in prices is insanity. I figured MS would have a comfortable lead in the six digit range at least.

Nintendo's sales are a disappointment, but expected. No major bundles when your rivals are throwing in all kinds of stuff was a bad move.

But my biggest surprise? No DA:I on the charts. Given the high praise form players and critics, I expected a lot more out of it. It was like biowares big apology for the crapfest that was DA 2.

I'm trying to think about why MS went to such drastic, financially painful lengths this month. Was their intention to completely dominate the black friday phenomenon and thus close that widening US marketshare gap as much as possible?
