Final Fantasy XV fans have finally got what they’ve been waiting for, as Square Enix shared the latest trailer for Final Fantasy XV on the first day of Jump Festa 2015 in Japan. Game Jouhou shares what went on during the presentation with a beefy summary of the event. Below is our translation.

The giant monster shown at the end of the trailer is indeed Titan.

Summoned Beasts can be acquired after fighting them, and there are various other conditions for acquiring them as well.

Titan will play a big role in the story, but the demo won’t include him in. It will instead add another Summoned Beast that is not a big part of the story. You’ll get to summon this Beast, and it is said that it will be a dynamic one that will surprise players.

The giant size of Titan seen in the trailer is how he’ll look when you summon him yourself.

The town in the trailer is shown in a seamless fashion; however, at the current stage, Square Enix can’t say for sure whether the entire game will be seamless. Again, they say that they’re doing their best to make it all seamless, but important scenes will likely require some loading. The demo, however, will be completely seamless.

The town shown is called “Lestarg” and it plays an important role in the story surrounding Titan. It is not a huge town, and won’t be in the demo. There’s a hotel where you’ll get to rest, eat, and shop, along with all kinds of other events.

General Cor Leonis will join you and fight in the party. there are some party members that will join as temporary guests, and Cor is one of them. He’s not a friend of Noctis and the others, but an aide to his father. He’ll be there to look out for Noctis and Co.

If you go a while without sleeping, the stat boosts you get from foods and such will lose their effect.

The sleep element has been added to further emphasize that these characters are living people, so they’ll need to get rest just like any normal human. You can eat meals at camp for extra status effects.

You’ll need to take a breather in order to level up. So basically, if you don’t rest at a camping area, you won’t level up. This will make it possible for people to challenge themselves at beating the game at a low level.

You can go three days without sleeping, but any longer than that and you’ll begin to see negative effects.

One day in Final Fantasy XV is the equivalent of a real-life hour, so a day lasts for about 40 to 45 minutes, and the rest is night. This bit is currently in development, so it’s subject to change.

There will be moments where you’ll need to go on fighting for days at a time.

There are also trains to travel inside, and these will have their own spaces within them. You’ll travel by train at times, and can freely walk around inside when you do.

Cindy (or Cidney in Japanese) doesn’t have much to do with the story, but she’s a mechanic who’ll talk to you about gameplay. While we still don’t know exactly what kind of mechanic she is, she’ll appear in the demo. Square Enix’s male staff members have been putting a lot of effort into creating her.

At the moment, Square Enix are working on adding more action varieties, and they feel that magic isn’t looking too impressive, so they’re not showing it. They need to work on it, but they’ll do that after they’re done with the Summoned Beasts.

At first, they decided on only having Noctis use magic, but they felt that it wouldn’t be as fun gameplay wise, so they’re changing it up a bit so that everyone in the party can use magic.

Square are adding various languages for the demo version that will release around the world, but due to the heavy amount of content and problems in schedule, Square Enix can’t say for sure whether they’ll all be included in the initial release.

Insomnia is the capital of the Kingdom of Lucis, where Noctis is the prince of. This is where a ceremonial signing will take place.

Square Enix prepared all kinds of scenes for the latest trailer, but since they didn’t use them all, map director Yasuyuki Matsunami got pretty upset. Tabata justified his reason by saying that trailers can be made in two ways: to advertise or show the state of development. They showed Behemoth and weathers in the previous trailers, and Tabata says this was put together in a rush. As for Jump Festa 2015, the focus was advertising, which was done by the editing studio, and not in cooperation with the development staff. For this reason, they weren’t able to include all the scenes that were requested by staff.

Some of the omitted scenes were shown separately at the event, including one that highlighted Cindy, and another with town exploration.

There was a much older version of the town, but the latest version had a lot more going on that was shown in the trailer when you see Noctis and friends cruising in there. The full-release version will look nicer, and will have more people walking around. If you go near them, you’ll also get to hear them speaking.

You can purchase ingredients to cook at camp. By eating those foods, you’ll gain positive effects. By properly sleeping, you’ll maintain its effects.

The part that shows the dog peeing [in the footage with town exploration], in the back, they show a part that will play a big role in the game’s story.

Tabata jokingly said that he’ll introduce more on the dog if the demand is high enough.

"The town shown is called Lestarg"

Los Santos confirmed? It sure looked like LA.

This game's map is going to be fucking huge isn't it.

I was about to do a quote of everything I like from this article, but literally EVERYTHING sounds fucking amazing. If they can deliver this easily sounds like the best FF ever, possibly even the best game ever (competing alongside MGSV, if that too can deliver). Potentially of course, but everything said and shown so far looks really good.

"Cidney" still works ok in English if you ask me, and makes more sense in terms of the reference. I hope they consider keeping it for the localisation.
General Cor Leonis will join you and fight in the party. there are some party members that will join as temporary guests, and Cor is one of them. He’s not a friend of Noctis and the others, but an aide to his father. He’ll be there to look out for Noctis and Co.
I smell a betrayel twist coming.

This doesn't surprise me.

Nice work, staff members!

I like the idea of dynamic difficulty options here by opting to level up or not via camping. Those looking for low level challenge are right at home.

Man they sure have tons of work ahead of them. I'm going to keep my expectations for a 2016 western release pretty low for now.

Bummer. :/

From the coy mentions of whether certain components of the game will or will not be in the demo, it seems that they're really focusing on the quality of what is inside of it. I can't wait to play this in march.

GOOD!

OH MY GOODNESS!

Tabata jokingly said that he’ll introduce more on the dog if the demand is high enough.

YES YES YES!

Hello, my name is Yves Guillemot, Vivendi S.A.'s Employee of the Month!
The capital is called Insomnia. :T Square is trying to have as little subtlety in the names as possible. Holy shit at the titan summon though.

I can't even fathom how the gameplay would be like if summon beast like Titan retain its massive size like seen in this trailer. O.O

Gematsu opted to use the word 'control' when it comes to the summon we will obtain in the demo. I wonder if we really do get to control the summon itself, like X or XII:IZJS or Type-0?

I really hope they fix the REAL issue with Final Fantasy. The ham fisted, over the top, and completely detestable characterizations and plot. Vanille, Hope- fuck it- 80% of the cast of FFXIII was insufferable.

To add further insult, two of the biggest opposing forces in the game were given names that sounded almost exactly alike. FaL'cie and L'Cie. By the time half the game was over, I had no idea what was going on. I beat the second, and was more lost than the first one after reading a Wiki article. I didn't bother with the third.

The art in this looks amazing, but the VA is rubbing me the wrong way. It's like the designers are making this game for 12 year olds and playing up every stereotype imaginable. C'mon SE -_-.

I wasn't on the hype train for FFXIII because I didn't become an FF fan until close to that game's release.

But on reflection, surely the hype train for FFXV is more promising than XIII? Anyone who can remember the pre-XIII hype, please confirm?

Haven't played any previous FFs?

He is probably talking about an event like War.
I have played many Final Fantasies and have no idea what 'War' is.

It wasn't a serious comment, by the way. They said a day is like 45 minutes long, but it sounded funny taking it out of context.

The hype train is all the same. We are starving for a new mainline Final Fantasy. Final Fantasy XII was incredible, so we all had high hopes FFXIII would not be a total cluster fuck. It, however, went in the total opposite direction of what made FFXII a success.

FFXV has more hype in it than ANY FF I've seen in recent memory. The visuals might be incredible, but every single piece of spoken dialogue in that trailer leads me to be afraid the story will be absolute trash.

:/ C'mon Square Enix, please get some North American input in your storylines.

Yup. A lot of the game feels aimed at a very young crowd. Which is a bummer. Hopefully the final product won't be, but they aren't given the impression of that as of now.

Nd that comment on male staffers working a lot on that female mechanic is really weird. Maybe get some females on that design so it's not boob city.

As long as they have Japanese audio (apparently confirmed for the demo) then I'll be happy.

What's bad about the dialogue? The first bit is story exposition we've known for four years, and the second bit with the gang just has them worried about their home.

There's basically no meaningful, story related dialogue...but you claim there is.

Everything sounds great, now please upload the extra footage to youtube!

Everything seems too good, I'm very happy and excited.. this is the Final Fantasy game I wanted after VII VIII IX... this is the true sequel IMO.

I'm so glad that there are only 4 party members.. it will give them more focus in story development and relationship also... plus the gameplay so you don't get distracted by many party members to level up ( or co op the exp for them ) or by equipment.

Also I like the female Cid... but we also need a pilot male Cid, it just won't be a FF game without it.

I swear it's like SE went into my head and saw all my dreams about a proper main FF game and made this ;-(

No thanks.
I play games from all around the world because i like to see different cultures shine through even in things like this.

The dialogue was never the strongest suite of any FF, except maybe, FF XII. But the story of XII sucked so I guess it balanced that out. From FF VII to X, I honestly don't remember any dialogue that should be called oscar-worthy. Western games are usually better in this regard.

For Final Fantasy, the main focus has always been on presenting memorable characters, an action packed fantasy adventure, and a great combat system, mixed with great music and spectacular visuals.

I agree with you on culture, but Vanille and Hope's cringe worthy dialogue is not a reflection of a good narrative. I hope the same mistakes can be avoided this time around.

But it has nothing to do with North American or Japanese writing.
Japan produced goddamn Silent Hill 2.

It's one thing to ask for better writing, it's another to ask for "North American input".
