Rockstar didn't delay GTAO to allow people to play the SP, did they? I mean, they could have said that, but I don't really think that's the case since I remember GTAO had problems when it first became available. Pretty sure they were trying to fix as many of them as possible, but this is also unlikely since a 2 week delay won't allow for many, if at all any fixes, and attempting to do so is just asinine.

GZ was a million seller by April 2014. We can easily presume that Konami will sell 2-3 million by the time TPP is out, and with average sales price of lets say $10-12, they will earn a lot of money with it. I don't have fears about budget of TPP.

Also, during creation of the GZ/TPP, KojiPro also created company-wide engine that was already used on two PES games, and will be used in future on other titles [Silent Hills for a start, possibly MGS6/ZOE3/etc]. Using in-house engine on multiple projects saves money for Konami.

We all know Kojima has a thing for storytelling. When the game releases, he'll want the entire focus to be on the single-player but there are going to be people, including me, who'll want to jump into MGO right away. Delaying it will force people to play the story and avoid getting sucked into the multiplayer.

Plus the fact that they're "considering a simultaneous launch" implies that both parts of the game are roughly in the same stages of development.

Exactly, 2 weeks is nothing in development time. They didn't delay it to "fix bugs", that's for sure. If they knew the online wasn't ready for launch and wanted to make sure it was, they would have delayed it by a couple months, not weeks. If I had to take a guess, I'd say the delay was for review purposes so the shitty online launch wouldn't affect people's initial opinions of the game. If they had released it at the same time, everyone would have been complaining about the terrible online and not the amazing single-player.

look, the phantom pain is a.) already appearing in driver profiles alongside ground zeroes, b.) it was in the steam database for longer than ground zeroes, and c.) it's getting updates in the steam database

i think it's very reasonable to assume that the phantom pain on pc will not come significantly behind the console counterparts, and may even come day and date with the other versions.

I just hope it comes out on PC along with the console versions. Don't know how I'll avoid spoilers if the PC version is delayed.

I highly doubt it. Konami announced the release date for GZ on December 10th, almost a year ago, and GZ was at the end of March - en entire extra month.

The only way I could possibly see this making sense would be if Konami's marketing budget for the fiscal year is spent, or nearly spent, so that they could get the game out while there's enough hype already.

Konami had it listed for their fiscal year 2015 which starts on April 1st. I'm more inclined to believe the June 23rd, 2015 rumor (my birthday).

That makes no sense. Game has been in development for 5+ years and kojima said he wouldn't announce a release date until the game was ready. If anything you should be reassured on the quality of the game.

Dawg c'mon! Even assuming they started working on it only after Peace Walker, that means it's been cooking almost 5 years! Ground Zeroes was polished to a mirror sheen, don't doubt our lord and savior Kojima.... haha

what that guy said. it had its debut in 2012 and has been in development since peace walker wrapped up.
