Watched all of the first one on Netflix and thought that it was not so good. It was pretty good until it became a love story.

Oh sweet this arc is finally starting? I can watch this series again!
I hate the GGO arc sorry.
The last 2 episodes have been shockingly good. How many more episodes do we have to look forward to before it goes back to being terrible? And what makes it terrible aside from, I'm guessing, a renewed focus on Kirito?

This arc has been a big improvement over GGO/SAO but overall i wouldn't say that it's good.
Well, I'm sad now 
I feel like they shouldn't have had that emotional scene right in the middle and more at the 2/3 mark. Though that's just me and I don't know any better.
Caliber and Mother's Rosario were great. Those two were comparable to the first half of season 1 and completely trounces the second half as well as GGO.

Nice finale though I thought Zekkens last scene was too drawn out.

Shiun part was odd, why would one assume that decreased medicine meant she was going to die. I guess the doctor didnt communicate that to her until two months passed of decreased medicine?
Alright arc, not as good as ALO. Mother's Rosario would have been a bit better if there was more Kirito involvement. It felt like the series strayed way too far from its roots and thus became something foreign.

I hope they do progressive, or fillers, or hell even fucking girl ops before Alice. Alice is... different. In a way its more like SAO than MR, but in a lot of others its really not. It's good in its own right mostly, but I want more of this stuff before Alicization if possible. As the novels aren't done yet, they might do some filler. Or it might be like Oreimo where the novels and anime finish at about the same time.

Seriously, I'm always impressed at how this show attempts to take on issues grander than the writer's body of work and while it may falter ore the overall perspective may be shallow, it's fearlessly doing it and its pretty commendable. To end the show on
is a prime example of these sorts of concepts.

Not to take away anything from it - but the show most of the time just follows source-material with minimal deviation - this arc in particular didn't change a thing (source explores the ending questions you mentioned in depth actually).hipbabboom said:

This last arc hit me rather unexpected, didn't see any of it coming. Definitely the highlight of the season. I also liked that Kirito wasn't as involved, he takes up too much of the spotlight whenever he's on screen.

If they continue directly to the next arc in the novels then
no. It goes completely different, at least for a good while. It gets closer to standard SAO eventually, but even then no waifu stuff.
Just watched the last couple of episodes of this. Shit... that ending hit pretty hard. But
Out of curiousity after finishing S2 I looked up the plot for the next 'main' SAO arc from the novels and... well... It sure doesn't sound like it
What was the point of that Kayaba Akihiko namedrop at the end? I assumed that was meant to be a cliffhanger of some sort until the post credits scene.

Because it implies that the one the one that put them in that prison to fight for 2 years for their lives may have used them as literal experimental subjects for the medicubethingie that is poised to help so many and potentially save lives.
