For some reason I kept losing control in the last corner. There were times when I got ahead of the ghost even before the last corner and all I needed was to power through. Kept doing something really stupid. Will try again sometime today

I did the same, a number of times!

Just have the final Elements championship to do, then I will have all 405 stars. Also decided that I'm not going to focus too hard on getting amazing times with every new Tour challenge, as I end up playing the game for way too long lol. Think I'm just going to complete them with whatever time I first get, and then go back and get better times at a later date, or when challenges arise.

Kind of dreading the new less aggressive AI from the patch. The aggressiveness of the AI currently is something that adds a lot of value and challenge to races, always keeping you on your toes.

Just bought this game off of PSN. First driving game since Gran Turismo 3, so it's going to take some adjusting, haha. I'm kinda surprised at how tense I am when racing, it's really cool so far.

Visuals are mindblowing, wow. Download of the rest of the tracks seem to take forever though, Norway is 8+ hours. Madness.

Good grief, I've spend so many hours on these challenges this evening and only managing to reach the top three. I'm not sure why I'm losing so much time: Is it because of not using the DS4, or not being familiar with the track, or a lack of skill or gotten too much acquainted with Duke Jan and monsieur Merlot? My guess is the latter two.

Lol yep I think having a drink in the evening improves you at first (you drive more confidently & don't overthink it) but after a few more its a definite downhill slide. Having said that, a clubmate came on the other night after drinking 6 pints and kicked my ass when normally we're very evenly matched!

If you miss a star on a race, can you go back to get that one star, or do you need to get the others as well for it to count?

You can finish them separtely, just go back and get whatever you're missing. Challanges already archieved will also have a yellow color to display that you already got them.

Just make sure to finish the race. The only way to lose a star you got during a race is when you restart it without getting to the finish line first.

On the Venom Hotlap 2 try to get a very good first sector, almost cutting the first 2 corners, the middle sector is always harder, but the final sector gives you a bit of time to make a comeback on the corner before the chicane and the chicane itself.

I know it is easy to say, because I almost gave up myself... If you get annoyed, turn of the game for 30min and try again. :)

Exactly. If my ghost isn't ahead of me in the last bend, I get too nervous and fuck it up :'(

I do find its easier on the challenges if you know the ghost has a bad last bend, then you just concentrate on keeping in touch with him and get him at the end. I hate when the ghost run has a bad start but finishes really strong as they're always behind you and there's constantly the feeling of them gaining on you.

The event ghosts are a bit different as they're pretty consistent (no stand out bad corners).

I can't imagine the pressure racing drivers must feel on their qualifying lap, knowing there's millions of viewers, camera slow mo's etc but I guess that's why the earn the big bucks.

Thanks, that makes life easier. Some are hard to get together in one run. Getting a clean lap means not driving as aggressive as I usually may, so I place shitty.

New track preview: http://youtu.be/v7x5MgMTgW4

"Another free track coming your way, a race circuit set in Takahagi Hills. You'll be able to play this track plus four more for free FROM MONDAY!

Watch the video to see how the new Takahagi Hills track plays and get a good look at the Jaguar C-X75 Concept. We're getting ready to add this car to the PlayStation Store as part of the Apex Expansion Pack, coming Jan 27-29.

We've got one more new Japan track to show you, so check back tomorrow for the final preview before you take them for a spin on Monday. smile emoticon"

Monday.

Edit: It's like a P2P track made into a circuit, looks great.

Double Edit: That's also confirmation that the Jaguar Concept is a part of the Pack which means we're still yet to find out the free car this month?

not an idiot
I finally caved and bought the game. Though it sucks as it was $49.99 now, $10.00 more than when I looked a few weeks back. Ugh.

Great game so far.

Thanks Rushy! The tracks look great.

Is there any word on when we might be hearing more about replays or private lobbies?

Replays are looking great and are almost ready, hopefully we'll be able to preview them soon.

Private lobbies are in development but we've still got plenty to do before this is ready.

Rushy, can you tell us anything at all about Japanese cars?

Thx

All I can say is that we'll continue to bring more cars from new manufacturers over the months ahead.

The drift events are absolute bullshit. Can someone give me a tip how I can become decent at them, I can easily get 2 stars but I struggle to get anywhere near a third. Its is driving me insane now.

I think that it might be my favourite reveal so far among all the Japanese track. Narrower road surrounded by forest is great. Also, the first Jaguar, I can finally feel like a villain!. Moreover reading about the C-X75, it seems like a very interesting car. Are there really 4 electric motors doing all that noise engine?

edit: must be the petrol engine version.

Quickly reached level 5 to unlock the Maserati GranTurismo, one of my alltime favourite cars in real life so I'm super glad it unlocks this early on.

Played the first track in Norway with the super long straight road, I've never seen this sense of speed in a game before, WOW. You hear the wind gushing, rain against the windshield, vision starts to shake and blur a bit. Absolutely amazing, adrenalin was pumping for that few seconds. Disabled all HUD for maximum immersion.

Really, really awesome.

Hi all, first off just like to say, Rushy, you and your team have done an amazing job in creating one of the best racing games I have ever played. Hell, one of the best games I have played full stop. It is just so much fun and engaging and accessible. Congrats and I hope you can keep supporting it well into the future. It's just fantastic.

Secondly, while I've added a heap of people from GAF (thanks Viveks for creating that friend list) it seems that I have not added the people that I see on these pages. You guys seem really into it and I feel like I'm missing out on your challenges and banter.

So if anyone can be bothered my psn id is farmerboy007. Add me or just quote this message with your psn id and I'll add you.

Mind you, I think I'm just average but it'll be fun to get involved.

It actually seems more forgiving than the original hot lap. But I keep screwing up one sector or the other. Game is giving me carpal tunnel syndrome. Had to call it a night 0.188 seconds short

I'm trying to figure it out myself I can get 3 stars with alot of tries on some of the maps. What I can gather is dont use the in car or any of the views except for the behind car views, its really difficult otherwise. Release the accelerator before the corner then tap the handbrakes before turning or as turning then use the throttle and brakes and steering to try and control/sustain the drift as long as you can.

Its really hit and miss though, I could drift better with more control in Gran Turismo, I guess the fact its an arcade/sim makes it hard to figure out(not enough of either. I mean does weight distribution effect it? You could maintain a drift indefinitely in Gran Turismo or even a real car but this seems to be really momentum based, you lose momentum when drifting in this. With the right amount of throttle control in Gran Turismo you could slide all over the place, too much you would spin out too little the tyres would grip. I cant seem to maintain the point where the wheels are drifting for very long they always end up gripping or spinning out.

Yes! Awesome. Thank you for posting and delivering great news. Can't wait for replays and the new tracks.

I think the corners penalties are less severe now so anyone who does the original venom hot lap will have an easier task than those of us there at the start.

Rushy, tell your graphic designers they are extremely talented. Love the logo design and typography your team puts out.

4th track for Japan: Takahagi Hill! It's being processed atm llol.

edit: Rushy at the wheel!

This looks insanely good. And lots of narrow roads in this one too. Variety is indeed the spice of life.

The Kyle with Heavy precipitation/stormy settings will NEVER get old to me. I am so bad at driving under these conditions it's hilarious but the experience is still awesome.

So excited for Japan tracks, they look great. What other locations do you think would be great in the future for the franchise? I think Coastal California would be awesome with tracks based on stretches of the PCH, Mulholland Drive near Calabasas, Santa Cruz etc.

Elements trophy was pretty easy. Was super fun and intense driving blind, but did not too challenging. Especially after just beating the venom hot lap 2.
