So excited for Japan tracks, they look great. What other locations do you think would be great in the future for the franchise? I think Coastal California would be awesome with tracks based on stretches of the PCH, Mulholland Drive near Calabasas, Santa Cruz etc.

Yup. London, Milan or Madrid preferably. Amsterdam would be awesome, too.

I'd like for Stockholm. Lots of little asphalt bumps/surface irregularities, elevation changes, wide turns that allow you to keep the speed up like DC's best current tracks.

EDIT:

Actually I think I want Rio de Janeiro more. :p

Argh, FINALLY! :D My hands were shaking after I finally got under 1:20 since my previous laptimes were 1:20.125 and 1:20.015. :D I know it ain't nothing special when compared to the guys from the top of the leaderboards, but I'm still glad I managed to beat it.

I also won the last star in Venom 1 time trial yesterday. It was much, much easier (got it probably in my fifth or sixth try), but I don't think that knowing the car better helped that much. It's just that it was easier for me to drive through corners without having to slide to maintain high speed. And the middle section of the track was much easier since I could see the corners and plan when to brake.

I feel like the last sector is where you can make the most time in the Venom Hot Lap 2. I had a pretty poor first two sectors and still managed to get a 1:19.8. In those last few turns traction, and cutting the curbs/apex's just slightly, makes all the difference, especially that small chicane right before the final turn.

Grats on the people getting the Venom Hot Lap 2 :)

Can't wait for those Japanese tracks!
I have seen the dark blue CX75 in Germany, really cool car. Shame this car never got into production, would have been a nice tribute to the XJ220.

Imagine the hardest time trial you ever have to win. Now imagine that again in the wet at night time, that's #2. ;-)

But it's damn fun though lol. That adrenaline rush when you're on the third sector with all green, knowing you're going to hit that star unless you make even the slightest mistake, then that intense jubilation when you finally get it. SoooGood.gif

Replays are looking great and are almost ready, hopefully we'll be able to preview them soon.

Private lobbies are in development but we've still got plenty to do before this is ready.

All I can say is that we'll continue to bring more cars from new manufacturers over the months ahead.

Will photo mode work during replays, Rushy?

Sent out a drift challenge for those interested. If I missed you from the list, look me up on friends' challenges. This bite-sized section has 2 really good 'S' drifts that are a lot deeper and technical than would seem at first glance. I actually screwed up the final section so that should give some leeway for improvement :)

Newbie GAF club NVR Alone is filling up. One more spot left I believe. Bring on the challenges!

I don't understand how much I like this game. Never before been into racers like this. Even my wife enjoys this. So much fun and that eye candy oh my.

Still trying to learn the ropes but I did manage to win one multiplayer race. What a rush.

2 new tours per month all the way through to July are all part of the season pass! So that's 14 more between now and then, the tour team certainly have got their work cut out for them.

Yep, it'll be a great way to capture pictures :)

Damn, that's a fantastic amount of content. Very glad I bought the Season Pass. I feel like I'll be playing this game for a very long time to come.

Holy shit, man. That is a truck-load of content.

Brb, buying the season pass...

Edit: Grrr, sorry for the DP.

All right I bought my first season pass for this game. And it's completely worth it.

Hey rushy, when is The notification system and The driveclub app going yo work?

Thank you for an awesome game. Cheers.

So I've been really enjoying this game, but as I'm getting deeper in the tour I'm finding that I'm not having as much fun. Still a great game, and maybe I'm just not good at it, but I really don't like the Hyper class, and several cars in the Super class. I feel like I'm constantly out of control, just gliding on ice. It's so much less forgiving too. One slip up and BAM you're doing donuts in last place with no hope of catching the pack.

Any tips for getting used to the faster cars?

@Rushy

I bought a new controller because the left trigger on my old one broke, and I can now use the touch-pad in-game without issue. Photo-mode is glorious!

(It has 112 on the back of the controller, btw. My old controller had 111)

Sounds like you are applying too much acceleration coming out of corners, try to increase the throttle gradually, not just jamming your finger down full. Helps if you can line the car up again before you accelerate as well, until you're used to counter steering.

Are the servers down for anyone else right now?

They're patchy for me.

I hope they balance the scoring in drift events. Either up the scoring in speed sections or award extra points based on your speed at the exit gate of the drift sections. As it stand, you're basically encouraged to spin out in each drift section to have a shot at beating top scorers who were doing the same.

And I hope they add no-damage option along the replays so I can gawk at pretty cars for the duration of the race, not just up to the first corner when you inevitably bump into other cars.

Wet-roads-but-no-more-rain option would be nice too!

I'd also like to preorder DriveClub 2 already, no aditional info needed.

Rushy, plz. :)

I'm not sure if I like the idea of pre-baked shadows on the Japanese tracks, one of the reasons I love this game is everything is dynamic :/

Would look ridiculous during the day/night shift :(

Just spent the better part of two hours getting all three stars on the Venom Hot Lap 2, which were my last ones left in the whole game. Finally did a 1:19.878 in the end

However, Driveclub decided that no, it didn't want me to have the stars. It posted my time on the leaderboard and everything, but didn't give me the fucking stars. FUCK this game. If you design an event that frustrating you better make damn sure it works, especially if you're trying to sell me more content off the back of it. God fucking damnit.

edit: persisted for another 20 minutes and did it again. Worked this time

The Japan tracks have pre-baked shadows? This is the first I'm hearing of this.

The biggest problem with hyper cars is that there isn't anything above them that's more difficult. At least early on you can go to the next class and come back. Always seems easier going back. Certain supers are borderline hypers. I struggled a lot with hypers...a lot. Best advice is to just do single events and practice. Ease off on the gas and focus on getting around the track at first.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm definitely an All or Nothing throttle guy. Gonna have to work on that.

A few people in the japanese track preview thread noticed it. Time of day changed but the shadows remained blobs on the track.

I'm guessing the time of day just didn't change enough to have any tangible immediately noticeable affect on the position of the sun or shadows, harder to notice in low quality YouTube videos. I doubt they'd switch up their engine and suddenly go baked just for these Japan tracks. They don't look like they'd be any more taxing than any of the other geographic locations, especially Canada.

Feather the throttle whilst in a corner, only accelerate when you are straight.

Might sound daft but if you're not driving manual then try that as well (not in the hypers straight away, work your way up), simply because it gives you an extra element of control with engine braking, or quelling wheelspin by shifting up early. The other thing is it will teach you about controlling your throttle and thinking about brakes a bit more because you can't just jam on either when you need to.
Plus, it's more fun.

There's a dude who works by where I live who owns a yellow 650S. It's a beautiful car. That track looks good. Loving the wide roads. It'll make for some fun driving.

Are these tracks getting released tomorrow worldwide for use in single event or is it a "whenever your store updates" kinda thing?
