There's also a trainer avatar, as well as a female trainer helper who asks your assists.

Assists confirmed so far are:

Snivy - Leaf Tornado (non-moving whirling tornado leaf)
Lapras - Surf (dash attack with Lapras)
Fennekin - Ember (lobs an explosive fire)
Emolga - Shockwave (cone electric projectiles)

Loketest in 30th of January, where they hand out data save cards to players.

Really interesting choices, especially Suicune. And Pikachu is of course trained by Heihachi.

They really went all out with how Suicune fights. Never imagined it'd use its ribbons for piercing attacks.

I hope we get a lot of non humanoid Pokemon's. Oh, also dusknoir pls, that's my favorite ghost type Pokemon :x yes I know he's semi humanoid but I'm willing to make an exception.

Pikachu Mishima!?

It makes so much sense that I never would've thought of it, even in a Namdai-made Pokemon fighter. I wonder if he can do EWGFs... XD

Cool and all, but where's my Charizard

The way Pokemon Stadium made Suicune's mane look like a flowing cloud, I thought that's what it was. It being an actual mane and not a weird purple cloud makes more sense.

My God...if there were to be a Pokemon game on the Wii U or its successor where the battle system is like the one in Pokken....

I'm actually kind of liking how the battle system works, it's different for a fighting game, and fitting for pokemon

Neutral game starts with an overhead behind your pokemon view, and once there's a first attack the battle switches to a regular 2d view.

Granted it could easily be a bit awkward to play but we'll have to wait and see.

Suicune feels like a pretty random choice... With playable characters plus support characters I wonder how many Pokemon the game will actually cover

I liked how the game is shaping, is kind of odd since there are two main modes during a match (Field and Duel) but is fitting for Pokemon and also allows to have characters like Suicune (I like his addition him so much) and Pikachu =P

In hindsight Suicune does make a bit of sense. At the very least it's the mascot of Pokemon Crystal.

So my roster prediction

1st Gen
- Pikachu
- Machamp
- Charizard
- Mewtwo

2nd Gen
- Suicune
- Heracross
- Tyranitar

3rd Gen
- Blaziken
- Gardevoir
- Aggron

4th
- Infernape
- Lucario
- Roserade

5th
- Stunfisk
- Emboar
- Damanitan
- Zoroak

6th
- Greninja
- Halucha
- Aegislash

20 Pokemon, fairly even numbers between every generation. A few starts, a few legends, quite a few Pokemon that can mega evolve. Some fairly Popular Pokemon, a few oddballs.

Also, for the OP, based on the pics of the assist characters in the other thread, Fennekin uses Ember and Emolga uses Shock Wave.

Any idea what Ember looks like? I kinda missed it on the stream.

Suicune looks kinda weird with the fur like that. Prefer them with the flat colors. Suicune is a cool choice otherwise. Pikachu and Gardevoir were basically required. I hold the teeniest bit of hope for Weavile

Again, I don't think it would be that odd. Other games like Psychic Force and Gundam Vs. have a similar aspect where you switch between "phases" depending on the distance between you and your opposition.

My main concern right now basically boils down to the arena size. On one hand, it's great that the stages are smaller, so that you can't just do like in Naruto and hang back the entire time with spamming assists and projectiles. But on the other, because the stage area is so small, it looks like characters like Suicune and Gardevoir can cover most of the screen area for free with its projectiles/beams (much to the dismay of Machamp who looks to have no projectiles at all).

Obviously, this stream wasn't meant to show anything close to high-level play, so it's likely going to be a thing of waiting to see what happens during the first loke test, next week.

Nice to see that the game won't be limited to just bipedal fighting pokemon. Opens up the door for a lot of possibilities

I hope there's more than just 3 sets of supports, would have been cool to have a similar sized roster of support characters as playable characters.

Eevee is in as well (you just barely see him for a split second off-screen in a demo montage). Most likely as an assist.

And I SWEAR TO GOD, I saw Zoroark playable in similar footage. I'll have to check the stream again, but I saw what looked like big red bushy hair from behind for a split second.

Edit: Looking at it again (it was where the ladies are about to fight as Pikachu and Suicune), it was Suicune in the volcanic area, so the lighting made his "hair" look red.

Edit: Eevee on TV:

Makes you wonder if stage spectators are playable/assist too.

Then again, there isn't only one Heatran, for instance.
