74 days after release, 343 still has not standardized dedicated servers for Halo:MCC

"We had to win November and December NPD. Enjoy your broken game."
Sadly this, noticed how Phil hyped it until release then hid in a bunker after that.

Way to treat the people you're trying to win over.
If he put half the face time in explaining and apologizing as he did championing this game pre-release, people would have felt better

wonder what the new thread about MCC will be about tomorrow...

the multiplayer is broken just sell the game/get a refund and move on with your life

EDIT: the game works for me by the way it just takes like 5 min to find a game.

I am not buying the dedicated servers. The difference between playing online and local is HUGE. I think I am going to be staying away from online FPS's on consoles moving forward.

Been playing a little quake live on PC with my kids and its SO much a better experience. Its super easy to find servers you have a good connection to (~50 ping) so every game is smooth, fun and fair. Not the crap shoot HaloMCC is (or any console shooter for that matter).

Microsoft, let us see the servers, let us pick the ones we want to play on. I would MUCH MUCH MUCH prefer to have a solid connection to a server and play against guys at a much higher skill level than me than play a mystery matchmade game with so called equal opponents.

Or better yet, release the server backend on PC and let the community drive Halo to success, because you sure can't seem to do it.

I would, except the game has worked well enough for me since mid December. I'm disappointed to hear so many people are still having problems

There should be "mock up" nationwide meetups where everyone gets rid of their copies via destruction or something profitable so it's not a total loss to the purchaser. Have that gain enough steam so 343 and the industry will see how fed up the consumers can be with this unfinished/promise breaking bullshit we receive. That or get a shitty internet petition to "show them we won't purchase Halo 5 or any shitty game new until we see results". I don't know, I'm just letting shit spew out of me.

This is why I play a patient gamer role and wait until after release to see how a game launches and how it plays post launch before wasting $60.00.

I did that months ago. The funny thing is they treat you like they're doing you a favor by refunding you the money.

Unfortunately this is true. I was able to get a refund a couple weeks ago but a friend of mine was denied.

According to him he made multiple attempts and each time the MS representatives wanted him to show evidence that this game does not work properly.

Hope this bites them in the ass for halo 5, but the same people burned by the MCC will buy it day one.

Judge each game as it comes. Do you think that if Halo 5 is great it still deserves to do poorly because the MCC had all these problems? I get feeling that people who have always wanted Halo to fail are smelling blood in the water and posting this sort of stuff. The bulk of 343 is working on that game, and so far they've have made extremely well made, working games: Halo 4 and the Halo 5 beta. (regardless of your opinion of the value of those games)

I feel bad for the EU folks. I am in the U.S, with 100mphs download, and the inconsistency of the online matches is really frustrating and I feel half of my matches there is latency and feels really weird like not smooth when running and jumping. There is no way most games are on dedicated servers. Absolutely not.

HERE IS A TEST:

When you play the game, and you get the map Shrine, try the Ring 2 to Ring 3 jump. On a lag free game, it should be easy to do like you shouldn't fail. If you keep failing, it feels sluggish during the jump but not necessarily in the game, it is likely laggy. I found this to be a good measure.

It was funny because my friend, who is really good kept failing the jump and he kept saying he's choking but he was experiencing the same issue. I then noticed if game is lag free, I can execute this jump fine and if not, I will fail more often than not feeling like a bumper car bouncing off the wall.

I kid you not, yesterday I got matched up with 3 people, who were in a party from Columbia on my team. Yes, Columbia. It was funny because we had really good game chemistry. I was number one on the list. I got an invite. I joined them. We played a few more games together before the game broke then we all logged off, I got invited to their party. None of them spoke English, just little, which is fine. We were all making jokes. They said they live in Columbia, and I told them there lying, thought they were joking but they were absolutely dead serious and have them on my friends list. How the heck did I get matched with them?

This new bug is if you're in a party, you will matchmake I say maybe 4-5 games then it will suddenly stop finding matches. I've experienced this with other people too. Resetting the game unfortunately does not appear to work. Everyone has and it will not find a match.

Judge each game as it comes. Do you think that if Halo 5 is great it still deserves to do poorly because the MCC had all these problems? So you think people are posting this sort of stuff not from there bad experiences and to just rail? Please. I'm sure if you experienced the constant delays, bugs, glitches, game resets, party restarts, often power resetting your Xbox One with everyone else, as others have had, you would be upset too.

I think it's more people having less hope in the Halo franchise. Before, you knew it was going to be good, but with 343 failing at every Halo game, there's not much confidence. After playing the Halo 5 beta, I don't think so either. A lot of poor decisions were made especially in design and the game has turned into a sprint to your spawn fest raping newbs with horrible changes that it doesn't play like Halo nomore, just feels like its shell.

Another thing that bugs me is in the swat playlist, Halo 3 isn't even included. Even though that is where swat originated.

I'm pretty sure that Halo 2 had a team SWAT playlist. Regardless, they should add Halo 3.

hopefully they add Reach for the 5 year anniversary, SWAT was at it's best in that game

Yep. They first try to blame your router despite you telling them this is a well documented problem covered by the media. And they will still try to pin it on you (I get that's protocol before issuing a refund). Then when they do give you a refund, they act like you shoild be so thankful for their generosity.

Servers are working fine? Are we playing the same game?

Clearly this is an example of people having different experiences with the game. Some still can't get into a match, or games have a lot of lag/latency issues and crashes. It's great for those that are able to play with zero issues. But for many, game is still broken. Neither side is going to lie about their experiences.

Not that I necessarily believe it, but in one of their website updates, 343 said that matches are happening most of the time on dedicated servers and that the notification doesn't show up because the connection happens so quickly.

That's what they said.

.....

Yeah I don't believe it either.

Me, too.

I don't believe it when I see my router logs the connections of different users.

That's because there is no such notification. 343 stated a few weeks ago almost all games were running on dedi's, the notification was only there the first week the game was released and was removed afterwards

Not true. I saw the notification last night.

Just expecting them to brush it under the rug at some point and hope everyone forgets. People will still eat up halo 5, even though the beta was abysmal imo

If this is really the truth and every game I have played is dedis, then they are some of the worst. Most games have noticeable lag and latency. Something is not right.

Hey do you guys remember the message "We are aware that some users are experiencing longer than normal matchmaking search times. " Lol. No one should trust what 343 says at this point

They let us all down.

Only in the video game industry can you sell an incomplete broken product and not only get away with it but actually have people defend you, that were entitled consumers and cut poor 343 some slack. I have no idea why people have those strange emotional engagement toward companies in video games.

Have to say, it's mind blowing to see people defend these companies. I'm not talking about Halo MCC, but just in general. It doesn't make sense why so many consumers are apologists for these people. As if they give a shit about you.

Five different studios from four different countries across two continents + short development time + multiple games and engines being cobbled together = clusterfuck

MS/343 should have delayed the game, but they obviously wanted to release the game in time for the shopping season last year.

The ironic part is that I'm sure most series fans would have been happy with just Halo 2 Anniversary, solid 60fps and original multiplayer intact.

Yes, I must want halo to fail. Even though I've owned and beat all of them. Check my gamer tag.

It's just pathetic and frustrating to see them botch this so badly. I wont be buying halo 5 until it's proven to not be a broken mess.

Just curious, does local LAN multiplayer work? My friends from my university days are trying to set up a Halo weekend next week and none of them thought to ask this question because they're all lapsed gamers.

Played a match tonight, far from a piece of shit.

I don't know about it being far from that. Sometimes I'll get into 2 or 3 games on the trot, but that's usually followed by the miserable experience of having to reboot the game after getting locked in a lobby, or constantly being separated from party member(s) and having to reboot when rejoining or invites don't work. Just that is enough to label the game nearly broken, but when you consider the likelihood of finding an even match and then actually getting to play said match before being shown a "Game Over" screen, you're looking at a game that some people can rightfully label a POS as far as MP is concerned. Especially the people that have had an inferior experience to the one I just described. Maybe the game works better for you, but it sounds like it's almost completely broken for some people.

No, there is no LAN. You have to connect through Xbox Live. You'd be better off using 360's.

Seriously? They removed LAN? What the hell?

Everyone just needs to boycott Halo. If you want to play it, load up an OG Xbox or PC. If no one buys 343's games, they will stop releasing them. Halo died with Reach.

Very weird the other day in that I've never seen this before. Got in a an extremely laggy game and a guy was like triple shooting burst shotting kind of like what hackers would do back in the Halo 2 and Halo 3 days. I don't know if he was hacking or it was just an extremely laggy game but he was like triple shotting with the sound effect of a burst amplified and people were just dying behind walls all over the place.

Just complete shameful dedicated servers have not been established and fully resolved yet, as well as the complete revamp has not gone live, and it is mid-February.

Also please add more than 3 map for the Halo Championship Series.
