We were just a bunch of random dudes with one thing in common: Metal Gear Solid.

When they closed the hype/news threads on the frontpage and we were forced into this thread... I thought it was over. I remember when barely anyone would post here on a full day. The thread would have 0 replies for hours. But somehow, we got past that shit and now we are more active than ever.

Sorry for being this melodramatic but I just wanted to say I luv MGS-GAF. It's like the only community on GAF where I feel like people have the same humor and interests as myself. I like to think I made some friends too. MGS-GAF also dragged me through some dark days when I was suffering from severe OCD/depression. You guys might not have known this, but those funny and insane convo's we tend to have really make you forget all the other shit going on.

I love this post. I too remember the times when there was very little activity in this thread. Now I can go to sleep or just be gone for a few hours when I'm in college and there will be multiple pages waiting for me when I come back. It's great even if it means I'll be replying to stuff a few pages back. I think it was the mosaic that made me love this community.

I made a system backup with EaseUs Todo Backup.

I have a total of 4 disks, called:
Sys000
Sys001
Sys002
Sys003

I created that back in August 2014

Now when I go to System Recovery. There's the Backup of August already listed:
"System backup 8-3-2014 09-23"

Now I go to browse and select the .pbd file of said date inside the Sys000 disk...

"0x47D0633E [?]
Incorrect image file"

Seriously, I am so fucking desperate..
Please kill me..

What the hell am I supposed to do!?

Serious question though. Why don't you backup your stuff in an external disk and format it? (The laptop ofc)

I've been a part of the PersonaGAF community since the first thread and I have to agree. The problem has come up before and it's not as bad now as it was. But I like being here too, glad I picked up the HD collection and started posting.

Get a external drive and back up your stuff, then make a clean installation on one of the disks (I guess you have partitions?)

I put some necessary stuff on partition D:

So, what would I have to do now?

"Remove everything and reinstall windows" And reset it to it's factory settings? I thought about that. But wouldn't that wipe partition D: as well?

Yeah! I know what you mean. I think the fans in the thread are certainly dedicated, but I never feel I actually contribute anything to the discussion since they all have their own crowd, and no disrespect to them, but I'd rather just play and enjoy the games than try and fit in. But yeah! I'm glad you joined in the fun that the Metal Gear community has to offer. Just so damn awesome; everyone here can put aside differences and serve as Kojima's hype messengers in harmony here in Outer GAF!

Today I showed my mother the E3 2014 trailer for The Phantom Pain.

She remarked upon the actions taken by Snake when he proceeds to rub ashes onto his face. She said "Oh, he's doing what the Hindu's normally do."

I asked what the significance was. And apparently in Hindu tradition, when you are cremated, the practice is to disperse those ashes into oceans or rivers to 'release' the person's spirit in order for them to be free and in peace.

In other circumstances, for instance; if your friend/relative has been murdered, and you are to vow revenge then you would proceed by rubbing those ashes into your face, this ritual would then be followed by a short statement e.g. "I won't scatter your sorrow to the heartless sea"

In a sense this ritual is a form of communication to the person that has been cremated, to inform them that they will have peace when revenge has been exacted. This form of practice may be present in other culture, that I'm not sure of.

When Snake talks about turning the ashes into diamonds, we can interpret this as an adamant unending sentiment of vengeance.

This possibly is what Kojima-san meant when he said the theme would be RACE and REVENGE, though I could be over-analysing.

A lot of the shots we have seen of Big Boss so far (apart from covered in blood in the E3 2014 trailer) see him wearing a similar expression. He just looks lost, broken and without a cause so to speak. Even though he has one. It makes me wonder about the overall story arc and character progression we are going to see in TPP. And how much the want for revenge comes from Kaz.

Big Boss looks pretty conflicted to me. It's going to be so good.

I agree. Believe me when I say this; when you're broken, sad, and/or depressed - you just don't speak. Your mind is constantly thinking... and thinking... and thinking. I know this, I've experienced it. I'm currently living it. That's why I have 0 issue with Big Boss being so much less talkative in TPP.

Now seriously, the problem with this game
Is that it was
Announced way to early and in a era that is seriously lacking big aaa titles, these practises are disappearing, usually now a game
Is announced with a year/year and a half distance maximum!! This game already has 2 years of marketing and the way things are going maybe will be released 3!!! Years after,
This could be aceptable in past gens, but nowadays with all the digital information its just ridiculous.

What Pinewood said really, i just don't use partitions (last time i did was in the XP days) and use other internal and external disks for storage and having an SSD as my system disk (C).
If you have partitions, and if i remember right, Windows will ask you to choose the disk you want to format, in your case C.
BUT, because it's not what i'm doing and i can't guide you properly, especially now that i'm at work, go to the tech thread, explain your setup (how many partitions you use, where is the Windows installation located, your OS version etc) and tell them you want to have a clean system install without losing your stuff in the other partitions.
I'm sure they will be able to help you and it will be faster than you imagine.

Guys, the financial report indicated that the game will release in Q1 of FY2016, i.e. between Apr-Jun 2015. Below is my reasoning for the same.

  • This confirms that their financial year is in the following manner - Q1 (Apr-Jun), Q2 (Jul -Sep), Q3 (Oct-Dec), Q4 (Jan-Mar)


  • Note that in the Q2 releases/pipeline slide it lists Jul-Sep 2014 releases and immediate 'pipeline' i.e. releases that follow. The last dated product is for Spring 2015 which implies that title is scheduled for Apr-May.


  • The 'pipeline' list clearly does not cover the the period beyond Q1 since PES 2016 (which should be either Sep or Nov i.e. Q2 or Q3) is nowhere to be mentioned.


  • Hence it is clear that they are indicating to investors the MGSV: TPP will release in Q1, i.e. between Apr-Jun 2015.

Hmm... I'm probably doing something stupid now. I'll reset my laptop back to factory settings. (And it's not even clear if this would actually be a solution for my problems).

I feel way to itchy when it comes to stuff like this and the people on TechSupportGAF are way too inactive for me...

Yeah pretty much this, get all your important stuff on D: or whatever and make sure your stuff from C: (or where you have windows installed) is backed up. When you put the windows disc in and it asks to install, you can choose where it installs. You do a format for C: and install there, that should leave other partitions, like D: as they were.
Maybe this helps, he uses a new partition though http://youtu.be/ZCRE2XQuuzM maybe name your drives, so it is easier to differ them durin installation.

I disnt find a video to show the partition, but you select advanced drive options in the drive choosing window, there you should have a formatting option, where you can format(essentially wipe) a drive, do that to C: (or where you will install windows).

Maybe you can find someone from your area who can help you out?

It will shurfife alright but you'll probably lose your stuff. If you haven't done that yet, don't do it and look online how you can format your system partition. Good luck brother!

Well I can't comment for sure on Konami but I know for a fact that several publishers follow this kind of financial year model since I have been working in the games business for several years.

Yuss, just got my last S Rank on Ground Zeroes, been putting that off for too long. That AA mission sucks, though.

Now on to the trials, I suppose. Wouldn't want to miss out on possible TPP rewards for getting all trophies.

From a speedrun I saw, seems like the fastest way is to
use the rocket launcher and shoot the AAs from the spawn, no reflex should give a S rank

That last shot of BB on the chopper looks seriously amazing.

I really do think they have been updating the engine a whole lot more. I hope they bring a lot of those updates to GZ.
