3D Streets of Rage 2 rated by ACB

Meh....

Streets of Rage 1 was my favorite one!

Same here, but I think that's just because that's the one I had when I was growing up. I tried the other two games on XBL and I didn't like them as much (plus no car), I didn't like the music as much either.

I'd still buy it right away if it was released on the 3DS, though...

The 3D part makes me a bit leery. But as tedious brawlers go, Streets of Rage was pretty great. I also had a strange addiction to Rival Turf when I was a kid. Side-scrolling beat-em-ups were truly a dime a dozen back then.

wait? 3d thunder blade exists? does galaxy force?

Thunder Blade will be out at the end of this wave (Mayish, according to the schedule). Galaxy Force II came out last year, and it's not unreasonable to argue that it's the definitive version of the game

Ditto. Shocked as hell Sonic 2 wasn't in Wave 2, thought that was an obvious choice.

Especially as isn't it easier since they got Sonic 1 done already and they use the same engine and assets? What if it's due to the music and they need to re-license it over and over and over...

I'd bet ALL MY RINGS on it being them wanting to get the Sonic 2 special stages right, which would absolutely need special focus; you wouldn't get it automatically from using the S1 engine.

YESSSS!! These ports are so good.

I already have Super Hang-On, Ecco the Dolphin, Galaxy Force II, Shinobi III, and After Burner II. Next I want Outrun, Thunder Blade, and now this.

For the love of god, use Sonic 2 iOS code and just do that, M2!

Just port the Taxman Sonic 2 and throw some 3D on that shit. It's weird they didn't just do that for Sonic 1.

SoR2 is encouraging and I hope we see more.

Oh hell yeah. SoR2 is by far the best in the series. I beat the hell out of that game. This one will definitely be on my radar. What are the odds they don't screw this up? PEACE.

Edit: what the hell, this is 3DS? Ugh. This thread is where gaming boners come to die.
It's M2, they're incapable of screwing things up.

Awesome. Love Bare Knuckle II / Streets Of Rage 2.

Please also do the System-18 arcade version of Shadow Dancer !

It's hard to get excited over any new SoR ports when SoR Remake came through and crushed the buildings.

Like on some timeline alteration kind of stuff. I don't even have my SoR2 memories anymore, it's all SoR Remake.

"Multiple platforms"? Does that mean it'll be available on something other than a Nintendo handheld, or is that just done to cover 3DS/XL/2DS etc.?

I want to buy this but after their treatment of Streets of Rage Remake, nah rather not support it.
What did you expect them to do with it? They couldn't publish it or get it promoted because a lot of the content was using assets and materials from other games. specifically from SNK fighters and action games.

It was a great game, and my personal favorite SOR title, but there wasn't much they could do with it.

Well, I'd assume they'd want a different brand that doesn't include '3D' for non 3DS-family platforms.

I was thinking that the 3D might entail a polygonal remake of the game, which would mean it could be 3D (in that sense) on literally any current platform.

ACB sticks "various platforms" on damn near everything, don't read into it too heavily.

Australian ratings are rather expensive (so) so by saying it is multiplatform you cover the rating for titles called "3D Streets of Rage 2" for life. It costs nothing additional to do so there is no harm in ticking that box.

I don't know if the ACB have offered that forever or if game developers took time to figure out (looking at Halo you see the releases before 2007 are platform specific, while for Fire Emblem only the most recent one is multipatform proving the publisher has to request this).

Basically, ACB classifies all games like this. Probably to ease the porting process so you don't need to pay to rerate if the publisher decides to just put it on another platform

Give it to me now...SoR2 (and Remake) is essentially THE game that myself, my brother, and my sister played from day 1 it was released on genesis until today. Bro and I still play it often whenever I visit him, mania runs are great. It is the game of my family.

I'm not sure you'd really release a polygonal remake by branding it as '3D' these days. 'HD' would be far more likely, if anything, but from a personal standpoint I'd probably be most likely to give it a 'remastered' subtitle of some form.

I hope M2 is still doing projects this slick years down the line.

Then again, there were the rumblings about more original games from them soooo

Honestly, for me, I'd prefer these games on a bigger screen and with wider controller support. I know a bigger screen is possible with some $200 hardware mod and shipping out your handheld or whatever, but that's not something I'm up for right now.

I'm glad these exist and I'll pretty much buy them all provided I like the original game (which is almost all of them so far), but I'm looking forward to the day I can emulate them.

I agree. Honestly, all this stuff should be coming out to everything. M2 have clearly got some great tools to make games work across a huge amount of platforms - for them to only be on a 3DS is kind of frustrating.
