The new tweets are just Kojima saying that they've revealed more information about the avatar creation process, how Monolithsoft is nervous about their first user-created main character, lots of voice options, etc. PR shit.

The new gallery showcase is from Yoko Tsukamoto. She's doing character and enemy designs, and the main illustration being showcased is a character illustration which includes the "Roo" character which she designed.

Ah, thanks a bunch. Gonna update the OP in a few minutes.

Is there any relevant info from the website? Other than the list of VA for the MC that StreetsAhead already translated.

Is putting the voice actor's name standard practice in the selection screen? I'm thinking of other games with selectable voices and most of them just describe the type of voice in-game. The name for the actual person doesn't appear until the credits roll.

Ok, OP is fully updated. Hit the character limit, so I removed the website update from the first post and put a link to the 2nd post instead.

There are various short commentary stuff from Monolithsoft staff about the costumes and so on. I'm not going to bother, it's not very interesting.

Depends on the game really. It's not exactly unheard of, especially for games using the VA talent as a selling point.

It was more of a joke there but Saints Row 4 had a voice option that was straight up "Nolan North" (voiced by ...Nolan North) ...clearly a self-aware jab at the overuse of Nolan North as a VA.

I still don't get what the deal with Tatsu is. He's in almost every artwork together with the other party members, BUT he isn't among the other party members on the affinity charts, and if you watch gameplay he's slow as shit and he doesn't appear in the HUD! Is he just a guest tugging along in the entire game or something?

It is a mystery.

He just seems to be local guy helping with different things.

Something about how long he's been working on the OST? He's probably been working on the game since before the first reveal (over 2 years ago) but nice to get some info from him.... Something about Attack on Titan... Google Translate really drops the ball on Sawano's twitter lol -_-

.... Hopefully this works and we'll get a translation :p

Worked on Xenoblade X music from 2012 to early 2013 before jumping into work on Attack on Titan. Then he talks about AoT's film release.

Ah okay, thanks. I was hoping he had worked on it over the years... as opposed to just gunning out 90 tracks... I'm hopeful from what I've heard so far though (I mean, from the instrumental tracks)... not going to pass judgement on those yet. Some have been catchy, some have been too lyricy for me.

The fact that that Famitsu interview said that you party was made of four members yet the HUD in recent videos only ever shows three (even with Tatsu there) makes me think he is actually a permanent 4th party member that is distinct from the other 3 members.

At least to me so far it doesn't seem like any character has a distinct weapon and characters have been shown switching between Melee and range. What if all the weapons in the game are freely usable by all party members (with them each have a unique way of combat with it).

If that was the case Tatsu would be the one character who couldn't function the same. Due to his unique size and attacks he could have been spun off into his own unique thing.

This game has been in development from probably as far back as 2010 when Xenoblade was released. It's clearly a large-scale effort and I can't wait to play it.

I wish those environmental field shots were way more higher res shots. I want to save some for my wallpaper on my computer. They're so beautiful.

New week, new tweets.

[小島]前回に続いてアバター絡みで、今日はゲーム開始直後のアバターメイクとはちょっと違う話を。

https://twitter.com/XenobladeJP/status/567255861932736512

Google translate says something about equipping differently the right and left arm, the torso and the feet in the character customization. And how the cut scenes will include the customization?

Basically, as opposed to Xenoblade you can equip different things on your left and right arms, otherwise it's the same as Xenoblade (head, torso, legs feet). Kojima just goes on about having more stuff that's reflected in the cutscenes compared to Xenoblade and how that's great for players.

Thanks, added to the OP :D

thankfully armor design has so far been shown to be generally an incredibly aesthetically pleasing variety of sorts so kudos to the team for that enormous improvement

some of Xenoblade's made the cutscenes distractingly hilarious

It looks like interest in Xenoblade X has shot up based on the Famitsu top 30 most wanted list. As far as 2015 goes, the game didn't even appear until the week of February 1st, where it landed in the very bottom at #30. The week of February 8th then saw the game shift to #24, and now it has shot up again during the week of February 15th to #10 spot. Clearly, Monolith Soft's news updates has helped stir up interest in their title. Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XV holds on very tightly to its #1 position which seems like it won't change anytime soon.

Good to hear. Hopefully it sells better than the first Xenoblade. To get more japanese to buy this game they should put some Gundam Skins for your mech in that game. :D

Nintendo could have spent a lot of PR money to drive this game up that list if they cared enough

for some reason I hate the vibe of Final Fantasy games these days so I have not seen much to justify a #1 spot but hey that is Japan and the history of the IP goes a long way

I would like to play FFXV around the same time I play XBX to see which experience I enjoy the most

character design of FF seems to have more polished look and more work and money has gone into them but the games aways feel more overrated because it is just hype and eye-candy visuals, I almost fear I will waste $60 on a FF game and not be able to get into it

these games don't seem to feel similar at all, I get totally different feelings from them so I think I would feel better if Xenoblade X stayed low on the charts as an underdog title that just feels great to play instead of being driven by a big push and name that does not deliver the high expectations created around it

Ru (Voice: Ryotaro Okiayu)
An inventor and native of the planet Mira.
He makes his living by selling his inventions to Nopon and other native species.
With a very curious personality, he feels very close to the newly arrived humans and is, for some reason, very familiar with idioms.

The Frontier Net made up of Data Probes will automatically mine for things like Miranium, an all-purpose ore, and other ores and crystals called 'Rare Resources'. By finding Treasure Chests and completing quests, you will be able to upgrade the Data Probes functions.

icon_world04_probe_01.png

Mining Probe: Increases production, gathers more 'Miranium'.

icon_world04_probe_02.png

Research Probe: If you've found a hidden area or beautiful view in the areas surrounding this probe, you can gather tourism money.

icon_world04_probe_03.png

Battle Probe: Battling within the region surrounding this probe will give you various effects during battle.

icon_world04_probe_04.png
